This book is a revised edition of 『University Korean for International Students』, created by the Language Education Center of Ewha Womans University for international students. It is a Korean language textbook designed to help learners with intermediate or higher Korean language skills develop the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills required for university (graduate school) in a balanced manner.
As Korea's influence abroad has grown due to economic development and the Korean Wave, the number of international students coming to study in Korea has steadily increased.


And among international students, the number of those coming to Korea not only to learn basic Korean but also to complete formal education courses at universities or graduate schools is steadily increasing.
Accordingly, the Ewha Womans University Language Education Center has been continuously operating a Korean language education program for international students to ensure that they do not experience difficulties in their studies due to lack of knowledge and language skills in their academic fields upon entering university (graduate school).
And the 『University Korean for International Students』 series is a book series designed to help international students acquire advanced language skills that will enable them to take undergraduate and graduate classes, based on the educational experience and continuous research of these language education centers.


"University Korean for International Students 2: Listening and Speaking" consists of 10 units, answers, listening passages, and an index.
Each unit is divided into two sub-units, 'Listening' and 'Speaking', and the introduction to each unit presents questions for students to think about in relation to the content of the unit.
The detailed structure of the unit is as follows.

In 'Preparation', you prepare for the lecture by looking at content related to the topic.
In 'Learning Vocabulary', you will learn vocabulary related to the topic and vocabulary and expressions that appear in the lecture.
In 'Mastering Strategies', you will learn and practice strategies for understanding lecture content and taking notes.
In 'Listening', you will listen to the lecture, take notes, and understand the overall and detailed content.
In particular, all listening materials are structured around lectures to help students develop the listening skills necessary for university classes.
In 'Broadening Your Mind', learning content is reinforced through speaking activities related to the topic.

* [Speaking] is composed of ‘preparation-learning vocabulary-learning strategies-speaking-broadening thoughts.’

In 'Prepare', you prepare to speak by thinking about content related to the topic.
In 'Vocabulary Mastery', you will learn vocabulary related to the topic and vocabulary and expressions needed for speaking tasks.
In 'Mastering Strategy', you will learn and practice the strategies needed for presentations and discussions.
In 'Speaking', you present what you have researched on a topic or logically state and discuss your own opinion.
It is characterized by having students perform assignments using various presentation and discussion strategies learned and practiced in 'Strategy Mastery'.
This method not only reduces the burden of speaking, but also helps you express your thoughts more coherently.

In 'Broadening Your Thinking', learning content is reinforced through various activities such as expressing opinions on presentations and writing after discussions.
