[Book] Accurate Korean for Multicultural Families: Beginner 1
This book is the result of the 2017 Multicultural Family Textbook Development Project, commissioned by the National Institute of the Korean Language, in line with this trend of the times. It was designed to enable members of multicultural families to use Korean at a balanced level in both spoken and written Korean based on an understanding of Korean culture.
Furthermore, as the social activities of multicultural families are increasing day by day and awareness of gender equality is also rising, we have ensured that learners have a firm identity as members of Korean society and can naturally use the Korean language necessary for various social activities, including family life, interactions with neighbors, and work activities.
The content was designed to enable learners to move beyond a passive attitude of adapting to Korean society and live with an active attitude of leading Korean society together.

Publisher's Review
With the rapid development of transportation and communication, exchanges between countries around the world have increased significantly, and the number of foreigners settling in Korea has also increased significantly.
People who have immigrated to Korea and are living with their Korean spouses, and foreign couples who have settled in Korea while working are living in Korea for a long period of time, giving birth to and raising children, clearly showing that Korean society is gradually transitioning into a multicultural society.
I believe this is a desirable social phenomenon that indirectly demonstrates that Korea's international standing is steadily rising.
This book is the result of the 2017 Multicultural Family Textbook Development Project, commissioned by the National Institute of the Korean Language, in line with this trend of the times. The content is designed to help learners move beyond a passive attitude of adapting to Korean society to an active attitude of leading Korean society together.
This book was originally planned as a revised edition of “Korean with Marriage Immigrants,” commissioned by the National Institute of the Korean Language in 2008 and published in 2010. However, in order to reflect as much as possible the teaching methodologies that have developed in the Korean language education field over the years, the structure of the textbook at that time was significantly different.
The biggest difference is that the main textbook is divided into two volumes with different characters.
“Fun Korean for Multicultural Families” is structured to include more oral language-based assignments, while “Accurate Korean for Multicultural Families” is structured to include more written language-based practice.
Soon, “Accurate Korean” was written as a main textbook on par with “Fun Korean,” enriching the content of the existing workbook, which was treated as a supplementary textbook.
I believe that if we organically connect the two books and teach and learn them, we will be able to achieve both fluency and accuracy.
I sincerely hope that all members of multicultural families will diligently study Korean language and culture through this book and become successful members of Korean society.
