A new educational method that is gaining worldwide attention: the self-selection modular method.

The number of elementary, middle, and high school students with multicultural backgrounds in our society is increasing every year.
Those who are going through a tunnel of growth may be experiencing an even more difficult period of growth in Korean society, where the language and culture are different.
We must ensure that these students can adapt well to Korean society and grow into happy individuals within the Korean education system, where they can experience the culture of their peers.
We need to create a society where school-age students from multicultural backgrounds can compete fairly and pursue their dreams.

The most fundamental thing is the ability to communicate in Korean.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education established the ‘Korean Language Curriculum’ in 2012 and has been implementing a systematic Korean language education curriculum in public education settings.
And based on several years of field experience, we revised the Korean language curriculum in 2017 to make it more effective and concrete.


The recently published textbook, "Standard Korean for Middle and High School Students," was developed in accordance with the 2017 Korean Language Curriculum Revision Notice.
This textbook is intended for students with no or significantly inadequate Korean language skills, and adopts a modular, self-selecting approach, a new teaching method attracting attention worldwide.
Therefore, you can choose a textbook that suits learners of various levels, and this textbook is particularly unique in that it is divided into [Communicative Korean] and [Learning Tool Korean].
[Communication Korean] is a textbook designed to develop Korean communication skills necessary for daily life.
[Learning Tool Korean] is a textbook that helps you learn Korean vocabulary and other subjects to help you follow the Korean curriculum.

The communication textbook, "Standard Korean for Middle and High School Students," allows learners to choose from a variety of learning options based on their specific situation.
Each unit is divided into required lessons in the 'Must Learn' area and elective lessons in the 'Learn More' area.
'Must Learn' contains the educational content that must be covered for the corresponding grade and subject.
‘Must Learn’ consists of ‘Learn Vocabulary’ and ‘Learn Grammar’.
'Learn more'
It is composed of educational content that can be selectively covered in the relevant grade and topic, linked to 'Must Learn'.
'Learn More' consists of 'Talk' and 'Read and Write'.
Between 'Must Learn' and 'Learn More,' we placed the 'Culture' section to help learners from multicultural backgrounds better understand Korean society and culture.

We also actively utilized QR codes and videos to help students learn Korean more naturally in a digital device and internet environment that is familiar to them.
We attempted a three-dimensional learning method that allows students to learn Korean more enjoyably with content and illustrations that teenagers can more easily relate to.


Unit Introduction: Provides an overview of the entire unit's content.


[Must Learn] Introduction: Questions are presented to naturally bring up the background knowledge necessary to learn the topic and objectives of the unit.


[Must learn] Learn vocabulary: Topic-appropriate vocabulary selected based on the topic of the unit is presented using illustrations.


[Must Learn] Learn Grammar: We present the most representative scenes where the target grammar is used in illustrations to help learners understand the grammar information more easily.


[Learn More] Introduction: We have specifically presented the learning objectives that we want to implement in 'Learn More'.


[Learn more] Let's talk: It consists of before, during, and after conversations.
The dialogue in the middle stage is presented in comic format, and the dialogue in the previous and later stages can be viewed through videos of the characters conversing via QR codes.


[Learn More] Read and Write: We've selected topics from the texts in each unit of 'Talking' to help you further enhance your understanding of each unit.


Necessary for middle school students' studies
[Learning Tool Korean] to learn basic Korean language skills

"Standard Korean for Middle School Students" (Learning Tool) helps middle school students from multicultural backgrounds acquire the basic Korean language necessary for their academic studies.
It consists of 16 units and is comprised of curriculum-related topics, texts, and activities that serve as a stepping stone for middle school learning.


Each unit consists of 'Introduction to Learning Activities', 'Learning', and 'Adding Knowledge'.
'Learning' consists of 'Learning Text', 'Check Vocabulary', 'Check Content', 'Check Function', and 'Activity'.
[Learning Tool] The textbook is linked to ‘Must Learn’ in [Communication 3, 4] and corresponds to ‘Learn More’.
The 16 units of [Communication 3, 4] and the 16 units of [Learning Tools] are linked, so you can choose between [Communication]'s 'Learn More' and [Learning Tools] depending on the situation at the educational site.


Introduction: The 'Introduction' provides an overview of the entire unit.

Introduction to Learning Activities: This is a visual presentation of the learning activity's procedures, processes, and methods.

Learning: Text is composed of visualizations and media that clearly highlight the characteristics of each learning function.

Knowledge Plus: We aim to further enhance learners' Korean language skills by providing 'curriculum-adapted Korean' vocabulary related to the unit's topic and learning text materials.
