McGill Korean 1
McGill Korean 1
Description
Book Introduction
McGill Korean 1 aims to teach basic grammar concepts necessary for everyday conversation.

By learning basic grammar concepts in a logical order, we increase the learning effectiveness of the subject and ultimately enable students to understand the big picture of the Korean language.
Grammar elements to be learned are studied through conversational examples.
A single concept is learned as a single unit so that it can be used in a variety of situations, and the interconnected grammar elements are learned in a fragmented manner so that their connections are understood and memorized unconditionally.
Special attention was also paid to any difficulties students may face due to their native language.
We also took into account the questions students frequently ask and made sure to fully reflect them in the grammar explanations.
It provides concise but thorough explanations of each grammar element, making it a good textbook for students studying on their own.

Publisher's Review
This course is aimed at English-speaking adults (university and graduate students) and aims to teach them the basic grammar necessary for everyday Korean conversation. The course is structured to provide a step-by-step overview of the basic concepts necessary for understanding basic Korean sentence structures, allowing them to see the big picture of the Korean language.

In the first year, sentence structure is the most important thing to focus on, and grammar that requires consideration of context is mostly covered in the second year.
Although the number of class hours and the environment may differ from school to school, the content that must be learned in the beginner course cannot differ greatly, and there are grammars that must be learned first and grammars that must be learned a little later, so I think the learning order cannot vary much either.
The learning content and sequence presented in this textbook are based on students' actual learning experiences over the past several years. By following these guidelines, we have confirmed year after year that students can easily achieve their learning goals and understand the basic framework of the Korean language.

I tried to faithfully convey the things I felt and realized while teaching students for a long time, and the explanations I came up with after much thought about the difficult parts of teaching.
I would like to express my gratitude to the students who actively encouraged me to publish this textbook and whose constant questions encouraged me to think more and become a better teacher. I sincerely hope that this book will be of some help not only to students striving to learn Korean but also to teachers who are deeply concerned about Korean language education.
