This textbook is designed to improve the conversational skills of Korean language learners.
The writing team is comprised of teachers and researchers who have taught foreigners in Korean language education settings. They participated in the development of this textbook with the awareness that existing Korean language speaking textbooks are inadequate in fostering complete conversational skills.

The 『Korean Speaking - Easy for Foreigners』 series will be published in 12 volumes, four each for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
The syllabus for beginners is centered around ‘situations’ and ‘functions’, for intermediate students it is centered around ‘topics’, and for advanced students it is centered around ‘genres’.


The beginner textbook, "Korean Speaking - Easy for Foreigners," is divided into 40 units per volume, organized by communication situations and functions, presenting a total of 80 speaking situations and 80 functions.
This Korean conversation textbook, focusing on situations and functions, will provide you with a dynamic and practical means of communicating and exchanging information with diverse members of society.


Unit composition

▶ Conversation
- 4-6 typical dialogues are presented for each situation.
This allows learners to predict to some extent the relationship between a situation and the language used in that scene, and to learn how Korean is used in real-life communication situations.

▶ Words and expressions
- Analyze the dialogue by 'meaning' unit and provide explanation and translation.
Explain 2-3 selected spoken grammar items in terms of meaning, function, and pragmatics, and provide carefully selected examples for each.

▶ Practice
- First, extract some key sentences from the dialogue, listen to them repeatedly, and memorize them in their entirety.
Second, practice speaking by replacing or transforming the given word or sentence into a sentence that contains the target spoken grammar.
This makes it possible to break down and relate the linguistic elements involved in a situation.

▶ Activities
- It is structured as a stage for meaningful and practical oral communication using the situations, functions, and target spoken grammar set by the unit, assuming two or more conversation participants.
It allows for adaptation to each classroom environment and also provides a list of language input resources teachers can use.

- In addition to exercises and activities, we have prepared and presented additional content that teachers can teach and teaching methods that can be utilized.
The class is taught in the order of the textbook, but includes various teaching methods that can be modified when certain variables arise.

- First, you can encounter natural Korean conversation by presenting dialogues typically used in specific situations and functions.

- Second, because the dialogue is analyzed by 'meaning' unit and explanations and translations are provided, it can help develop the ability to 'express' in spoken language and can also be used as a self-study book.

- Third, you can learn complete pronunciation, practice communication considering your conversation partner, and apply it to meaningful contexts.

- Fourth, to accommodate novice teachers, we have included various teaching methods that can be modified when certain variables arise, while conducting classes in the order presented in this textbook.
