Learning Basic Hangul for Mongolians 1: Basics
Description
Book Introduction
Hangul is composed of 14 consonants, 10 vowels, and a combination of double consonants and double vowels, which create letters and sounds.
The Korean alphabet consists of approximately 11,170 characters, of which about 30% are commonly used.
This book is based on Korean words frequently used in daily life, and was developed with the following as its focus.
It consists of basic learning content based on the consonants and vowels of the Korean language.
By presenting the stroke order of Hangul, we aim to lay a solid foundation for the correct use of Hangul.
A lot of space was devoted to 'writing' so that Korean can be acquired naturally through repetitive writing practice.
We provide materials that can be studied in parallel with the textbook on our website (www.K-hangul.kr).
The content is organized around letters and words frequently used in daily life in Korea.
We have reduced the content on Korean characters that are not frequently used, and included only the essential content.

■ The reason for creating Hunminjeongeum
-Hunminjeongeum is the correct sound to teach the people-
The statement in the preface to Hunminjeongeum that “the language of the nation is different from that of China and is not compatible with Chinese characters” means that because customs and temperaments were different, the pronunciations were not the same.
“For this reason, there are many foolish people who have something to say but are ultimately unable to express their thoughts.
“I took pity on this and created 28 new characters so that everyone can learn and use them more easily.”
Hunminjeongeum, which a wise person can understand before dawn and a foolish person can learn in ten days, is praised as the most creative and scientific of all writing systems on earth, as it can express everything from the sound of the wind, the cry of a crane, the crowing of a rooster, and the barking of a dog.
