Publisher's Review
This textbook was designed to provide international students with the content they need for college classes and life to ensure a successful college life.
This textbook is designed to enable international students with Korean language proficiency equivalent to a Level 3 student to simultaneously learn academic and professional study skills and everyday school life.
First, the topics of each unit were selected in a balanced manner to enable students to complete academic studies at university and to experience everyday university life.
For international students entering university and starting their semester, we have selected topics necessary for university life in one semester, from basic class preparation to course registration, participation in on-campus and off-campus programs, considerations about major studies, and career selection, to ensure smooth completion of university studies.
And, through topics such as lifestyle habits, interpersonal relationships, understanding the Korean language and culture, and public life, we aim to enable smooth communication in everyday school situations.
Second, the textbook integrates language functions and is structured so that vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, speaking, and writing are organically linked.
Through reflection, vocabulary, and expressions, the subject and learning objectives of the lesson are clearly understood, and listening, speaking, and grammar (3 items) are provided as essential elements to enable explicit Korean language learning.
In Activities 1 and 2, various situations that students may encounter in college study and college life were created to enable the language skills of reading, writing, and speaking to be linked in an eclectic manner, thereby expanding the learner's practical knowledge area.
Third, it was designed to enable active and self-directed learning by arranging confirmation learning and addition.
A variety of activity sections have been expanded to include topics with sufficient use, and confirmation learning has been provided to reconfirm previously presented vocabulary and expressions.
And at the end of each unit, we added content such as 'KOCW and K-MOOC learning methods, extracurricular programs, events and competitions, vegan food, world commemorations, counseling programs, body language, consideration seats around the world, public places for foreigners, career tests, and representative figures by occupation.'
International students can grow into active, self-directed learners by understanding the context of Korea and Korean universities through the addition of real-world topics.
