Book Introduction
The number of test takers for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) increased more than 110-fold, from 2,274 in 1997 to 264,842 in 2018.
In other words, this is objective evidence that the number of foreign learners studying Korean is increasing every year.
Recently, as the media for learning Korean has diversified, the ripple effect has become larger and broader.
In keeping with the times, we have published a new series of textbooks that incorporate online learning through a blended learning system that incorporates IT technology.
An online learning system has also been added to enable Korean language education to be conducted in computer and mobile environments, allowing for a more learner-centered approach to education.
We have systemized the system so that you can receive Korean language education anywhere without spatial restrictions and check and improve your learning progress.

Into the book
The KBS Korean language textbook series is designed for general learners and consists of five levels: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and Advanced.
The textbook is an integrated textbook that presents tasks that integrate Korean vocabulary, grammar and expressions, speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
This textbook was developed incorporating the 『International Standard Model for Korean Language Education』, 『Development of Vocabulary Contents for Korean Language Education (Stages 1-4)』, 『Development of Grammar and Expression Contents for Korean Language Education (Stages 1-4)』, and the revised Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) published by the National Institute of the Korean Language.
We put a lot of effort into maintaining learners' motivation and interest through task performance rather than simple repetitive practice.
Additionally, a workbook has been added as a separate textbook so that students can practice what they have learned through online education.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the president and editorial staff of Hyeongseol Publishing for their support in every way possible, making it possible to publish the 'KBS Korean' textbook series.
Moreover, I hope that this textbook will be of practical help to both Korean language learners and teachers.

Title
Each lesson is presented with four photos related to the title and topic, along with a 'Let's Think' question.
This is the preparatory stage through brainstorming.

Topic-specific vocabulary
Select vocabulary by topic, check the meaning of the vocabulary, learn the semantic field, usage, and collocation relationships, and improve your vocabulary ability to express it in sentences.
Dialogue
Three dialogues are presented to help you understand the situations presented through illustrations and practice conversations appropriate to the context.
Practice real conversation situations in the form of pair work and role-playing.
Improve your speaking skills through meaningful interactions.

Grammar
It consists of practice of the form of the grammar, sentence practice, and extended practice (conversation).

Practice the conjugation of target grammar.

Practice asking questions or answering questions by looking at pictures in sentence units.

Practice short conversations as shown using pictures and photographs.

Task
It presents tasks that allow you to learn the listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills of Korean.
Each task is presented in stages (steps 1 to 3), making it a meaningful activity while simultaneously learning four functions in an integrated manner.
