Basics and Understanding of Korean Reading
Description
Book Introduction
A book that helps international students acquire the ability to read a variety of texts effectively.
"Basics and Understanding of Korean Reading" teaches international students how to effectively read a variety of texts they will encounter in the future and what characteristics each type of text has.
Part I focuses on finding keywords and topic sentences, which are the foundation of all text reading, understanding paragraph structure, understanding the characteristics of various narrative styles and expressions, and learning about argumentation methods, which form the basis of critical and logical thinking.
Part II is a representative genre that is frequently read or written in college: explanatory writing, articles, reviews, literature, and editorials.
We selected these five and presented post-reading activities along with texts that could demonstrate the characteristics of each genre.
This book is designed to enable students to study knowledge and vocabulary expressions that can be applied to general education classes at universities, and to enable instructors to utilize it in their classes.
In particular, the author says that students will study better if they try various reading activities (reading each paragraph separately, sharing information, and then reading together, giving preliminary assignments related to the topic, expressing opinions about what they read, etc.) to help them become active and subjective readers.
