Central Korean 2 (Part 2)
Description
Book Introduction
The Chung-Ang University Korean Language Education Center began developing its first textbook in 2006 and published Volumes 1-4 of "Chung-Ang Korean" in 2012.
It was a massive undertaking, dividing each volume into upper and lower volumes and producing workbooks for each level, totaling 12 volumes.
After completing the textbook, I used it to teach classes, discovered problems, and revised it to create a textbook that could actually increase the learning effect, so it took a lot of time.
It was the result of the hard work of many people, with the writing staff alone reaching 22 people.
The satisfaction level of students who have studied with this textbook has been high, and the students' Korean language skills have improved beyond expectations in a short period of time, demonstrating that it has been very effective.
However, as several years have passed since 2012, many of the situations in the textbook are from the past, and there were many opinions that the volume should be reduced, so this textbook was published after a new process.
We held our first meeting in 2015 and began the revision process. We reflected various research findings from the Korean language education community, made novel changes to not only the dialogue but also the illustrations and photographs, and reorganized the book's structure to make it easier to understand. As a result, it ended up looking more like a new book than a revision.
This is why I do not call this book a revised edition.
While there were only 4 Korean language textbooks, we developed 5 and 6 during this project, completing the framework for levels 1 to 6.
Volumes 1-4 are in the form of integrated textbooks, and Volumes 5-6 are in the form of subject-specific textbooks, which we are confident is the most effective method for learning Korean.
As the title suggests, this book reflects the philosophy that it should be “easy to understand and fun.”
To dispel the prejudice that Korean is a difficult language to learn, much effort is needed from Korean language educators, and I believe that the most crucial task is the compilation of textbooks.
Learning Korean should be fun, and you should feel the beauty and precision in the Korean language.
To reflect this, this compilation of textbooks has enabled education through the use of various media, including YouTube, and has inserted more fun and diverse activities.
『Easy and Fun Central Korean』 is a Korean language textbook developed by the Chung-Ang University Korean Language Education Center for foreigners learning Korean as a foreign language.
To this end, it includes topics ranging from basic communication skills necessary for daily life to specialized and abstract topics.
This content is organized to allow practice and language activities for listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
