365 Chinese Character Vocabulary Guide to Master Literacy
Description
Book Introduction
EBS Star Instructor with 1.04 million cumulative students
A collection of essential Chinese character vocabulary compiled by a teacher with 25 years of experience!
“The beginning of a lifetime of study, a single book that covers Chinese characters, Korean, and literacy!”

In 2022, the Ministry of Education announced that the percentage of students with average or higher academic proficiency in Korean dropped by a whopping 23.5 percentage points, from 77.5 percent in 2019 to 54 percent in 2022, according to the results of the academic achievement evaluation.
The percentage of students who did not meet the basic Korean language proficiency standards doubled from 4 percent to 8 percent.
This means that the number of students who are practically illiterate and cannot understand textbooks even after reading them has increased.
If literacy, the ability to read and understand text, is low, it affects not only Korean but also other basic subjects such as social studies, math, and science, resulting in overall poor grades.
Moreover, literacy problems persist not only during school life but also after becoming adults.
This is why the media frequently reports cases in which communication is cut off due to misunderstandings of basic Chinese characters such as 'a sincere apology', 'good luck', and 'lunch today' in everyday life.

Author Kang Yong-cheol, a representative middle school Korean language instructor at EBS and a current teacher with 25 years of experience, emphasized the importance of literacy and published “365 Chinese Character Vocabulary for Strong Literacy.”
This is because literacy and Chinese characters are inseparable in the Korean language, which consists of more than 70% Chinese characters.
Author Kang Yong-cheol wrote this book with a focus on whether elementary and middle school students 'know the vocabulary they need to know accurately,' and said that through this book, 'you can breathe life into vocabulary by understanding not only the meaning of the vocabulary but also how and in what situations it is used.'

Publisher's Review
The critical period when the vocabulary gap widens is the 3rd and 4th grades of elementary school!
Knowing the essential "learning tools" found in textbooks will improve your grades.

Kang Yong-cheol, the author of "365 Chinese Character Vocabulary for Literacy," has 25 years of experience in the real world of education, teaching students at school and meeting countless parents and teachers outside of school.
In the process, I experienced firsthand the increasingly serious literacy problem and believed that equal education without gaps begins with reading comprehension skills.
And at its root lies the learning tool language.
Learning tools are, as the name suggests, conceptual words that are like bricks that form the foundation of learning.
If you don't understand these basic words, you won't be able to grasp the exact meaning no matter how much you read the textbook.
In particular, the third and fourth grades of elementary school, when the number of subjects increases and the difficulty of education increases, are a turning point where the gap in vocabulary widens.

This book focuses on that very point and puts the most effort into identifying the vocabulary that elementary school upper grades and middle school students must know.
And, based on the learning tool words registered on the Ministry of Education's website, 365 words were extracted.
The words listed here are mainly selected from the concepts of learning for each subject that appear in textbooks, as well as words that help children build knowledge and form the basis of essential liberal arts.
Considering the difficulty of Chinese characters and vocabulary, it is divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and in addition to each level, it teaches you how to increase your vocabulary application skills through context and usage examples, rather than simply knowing the meaning.

One page a day, 5 minutes a day is enough!
A shortcut to mastering vocabulary and mastering grades and the CSAT

This book can be used a hundredfold if you carefully examine the contents of each page, corner by corner.
First, read the words, Chinese characters, and Korean pronunciation on the left several times to become familiar with them, and then read the meaning of the words on the right to understand their exact meaning.
Next, look at the examples below and improve your application skills by solving the skill-building quiz.
In the 'Related Words Talk' on the right, you can learn additional related vocabulary such as synonyms and antonyms.

Finally, finish by reviewing by repeatedly saying the pronunciation through ‘mumble and write’.
Although it is only one page, through this process, you can perfectly learn a single word and its derivatives.

The author states in the prologue that "this book is not easy" and recommends studying the 365 words steadily, one or two a day, like a marathon.
Then, at some point, I cheer you on by saying, 'Your knowledge will also take root.'
Improving vocabulary is a daunting task that cannot be accomplished through memorization alone. However, if you study this book for a year, along with reading and textbook practice, you will be able to successfully achieve your middle school grades and even the college entrance exam, and take one step closer to achieving your dreams.
