Lee Jung-hyun's 101 Home Cooking Recipes

Lee Jung-hyun, who was active as a singer and actress.
Recently, she has been showing off her cooking skills on TV, and is now receiving a lot of attention as a cooking artist.
From the ever-popular all-purpose soy sauce to basil pesto, chicken and potato croquettes, egg sauce, and eggnog coffee.
Her popular menu items are piling up so many that you can't count them on both hands.

She usually makes anchovy stock, all-purpose soy sauce, and all-purpose seasoning sauce and uses them frequently in cooking.
This is because, with just basic broth and seasoning sauce, you can quickly make home-cooked side dishes, soups, stews, and even kimchi in 10 minutes.
Maybe that's why everything she cooks looks so easy and delicious.

Although she debuted at a young age and received much love, she suffered from mental illness due to numerous twists and turns over a long period of time, and then her passion would flare up again, and her mental illness would suddenly go away overnight as if it had never happened.
As these patterns repeated, she felt stressed and in a state of pleasant tension, and had to find something else to heal herself.
The food she encountered that way became a source of healing and great joy for her.

I became so absorbed in cooking that I could quickly recreate the dishes I tasted at famous Michelin restaurants at home, and those times were incredibly enjoyable.
The joy of sharing her own recipes with her beloved family and friends has now become a happy part of her daily life.
In the future, I want to share this joy with more people.

Into the book
It's really convenient to prepare sauces, seasonings, etc. in advance and then cook later, so that the whole dish can be ready in 10 minutes.
I usually really like light, clean, and refreshing flavors, so for the past 10 years, I've been mixing and matching various ingredients and finally perfected a truly delicious all-purpose soy sauce recipe.
The dish became more delicious and fun to make in advance by adding a lot of dried pollack to the soy sauce and adding yuzu juice and lemon.
This soy sauce can be used in a variety of dishes, from Korean to Japanese and Western.
You can make 7 kinds of side dishes at home in 10 minutes.
In addition, you can make braised short ribs, pickled vegetables, etc. by simply pouring the prepared soy sauce over them. I wonder if there is anything more convenient and delicious than this.
You too, take a day to make a bunch and use them in various dishes.

I really like basil pesto, and I wanted to make it so delicious that I could keep it in the fridge and eat it for a long time.
I've never been satisfied with the basil pesto I always buy or the basil pesto from restaurants.
15 years ago, after experimenting with different ingredients, I came up with a really delicious recipe.
There are so many dishes you can use it for, including pasta, pizza, sandwiches, and salads.

I really like tteokbokki.
I always keep some tteokbokki sauce in the fridge.
I happened to make a stir-fry with chicken in tteokbokki sauce and it was really delicious.
This is a recipe for spicy stir-fried chicken that was shown on TV and became a hot topic.
It tastes even better if you put it inside a Jeong Hyeon-pyo croquette.

This is a really savory, light, yet rich seaweed soup recipe.
I mix the seasoning in well before stir-frying the seaweed and beef.
When seasoning the soup, always use fish sauce instead of salt.
That way, the flavor comes alive.
It tastes like the seaweed soup I used to eat in the countryside.

Making kimchi seems so complicated and difficult.
I think one of the reasons it looks difficult is because there is a process of making the grass.
But you can make delicious kimchi really easily and simply without the complicated process of making glue.
I learned the secret recipe from my mother.
My mother always told me to measure it 'slightly', 'thump thump thump', and 'smoothly', so I decided on the exact ratio and perfected the recipe.
When I run out of winter kimchi, I make and eat green onion kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and pickled vegetables, just like my mother taught me.

10 years ago, when I was working overseas a lot, I was flying so much and had such a busy schedule that I would often get sick.
At that time, I visited a famous Japanese shabu-shabu restaurant, and the chef there made me porridge.
I ate a light porridge with a hint of wild chives and pickled plums, which are good for the body, mixed with egg yolks, and all my body aches disappeared.
I couldn't forget that taste, so when I returned to Korea, I started pickling plums with perilla leaves.
I still make it often these days.
When my young nephews and nieces are feeling a bit under the weather, I make this sometimes and they finish a bowl in no time.
If you have anchovy stock and rice, you can make this porridge in 5 minutes by adding an egg.
Make a warm bowl and enjoy.

“When I was working overseas a lot in the mid-2000s, an Eastern and Western breakfast was served every morning at the hotel where I was staying.
Even though I always wake up tired after a full schedule, the moment I see the breakfast table, all my fatigue disappears.
Even these days, I sometimes prepare breakfast for my beloved family.
“When I see people I love and cherish enjoying food, I feel a happiness that cannot be compared to anything else in the world.”

Publisher's Review
“Cooking is healing and happiness for her!”

Having debuted at a young age, she couldn't spend her 20s like others.
As much as I loved my work, it was physically tiring, but I was also happy.
Even though I received a lot of love, I sometimes went downhill, and I was lucky enough to rise, only to sink again.
Due to countless twists and turns, I would become mentally ill, and then passion would flare up again, and as if nothing had happened, my mental illness would suddenly be cured overnight.
As these patterns repeated, she felt stressed and in a state of pleasant tension, and she had to find something to heal herself.
She tried various exercises like Pilates, yoga, and ballet, and also developed other hobbies, but the greatest healing for her was something else.
That was watching food movies and food documentaries and cooking with my cute little Tori at home.
Then, she naturally began to enjoy eating alone and cook her own meals.
I visit delicious restaurants and delicious food with my friends, and I even try to cook famous chefs' dishes at home.
When I found something that tasted similar, I was so happy that I invited my family and friends over to share it with me.

From a young age, I became interested in cooking by watching my mother cook over her shoulder, and I learned a lot about sharing from her.
She is very grateful that she received the happy genes from her mother that allowed her to enjoy cooking.
Now, in addition to her career as an actress and singer, cooking has become her greatest source of happiness.
