What's the secret behind a child with zero exposure to English until the age of seven being accepted into a foreign university at 16? The secret lies not in an English kindergarten, early study abroad, or academy classes, but in "Mom's Step-by-Step English, Three Hours a Day."
"Mom's English: Now, Let's Start" thoroughly analyzes the "English exposure method" that produces more reliable results than academies or private tutoring, along with over 1,500 pieces of content necessary for this.
Author Nuri Bodum began homeschooling her child when he was 8 years old and began learning English with his mother when he was 14.
It is good to leave your child in a school or institution, but on the other hand, I was worried that the child's individuality would become uniform.
After much discussion with my child, I decided to use 'Mom's English', and gradually exposed him to English videos and books for three hours a day starting when he was eight years old.

At 8 years old, everyone said it was too late, but surprisingly, the child's English skills grew explosively.
I became comfortable speaking and writing my thoughts in English, and eventually, at the age of 16, I was accepted to an Australian university.
And at the age of twenty, I entered the integrated master's and doctoral program at a domestic university faster than others.
To others, it may have been a 'missed opportunity' to learn English, but to the child, it was a 'shortcut' that helped him get closer to his dream more quickly.
"Mom's English: Now We're Starting" is a book that analyzes and organizes how a mother and child with "zero exposure to English" learned English the way mothers do, providing step-by-step/period-specific practice methods and a list of contents so that they can be seen at a glance.
Our curated collection of over 1,500 English books and videos, curated by moms, will serve as a "one-of-a-kind treasure map" for moms who are always thirsty for new information and have a hard time choosing just one English book.

Into the book
Bandi first started learning English through his mother's English when he entered first grade of elementary school.
However, since I was a 'mother who couldn't speak English', I soon encountered the limitations of my mother's English.
Ultimately, the child had to find his own way to overcome those limitations.
The mother found English stimuli that were appropriate for the child according to age and level, and the child practiced them consistently for eight years.
As a result, we have come closer to achieving the goals and objectives we set.
--- p.20

During my second year of elementary school, I focused on listening to five sets of chapter books, each containing more than 30 volumes.
Most books were less than 100 pages long and the audio recordings lasted about an hour.
One book a day! Once I start, I read it without stopping! This was our family's ironclad rule for focused listening.
It is also important to set aside time when you are physically and mentally relaxed and will not be interrupted.
After I finished the intensive listening, I didn't do any additional studying.

--- p.47

After Bandi had focused on listening to the audio to understand the content, he took time to think about the 'Think About Reading' questions at the end of the story.
This section contains a collection of question-type sentences. While reading chapter books, Bandi, who was more familiar with written language than spoken language, became interested in question-type sentences.
The book included questions ranging from simple comprehension questions to more thought-provoking ones.
This part was digested to the extent of talking to me in Korean.

--- p.169

Starting from the third grade, the textbooks were used in a way that did not take up much time by selecting one or two series per year that were appropriate for the child up to the upper elementary grades.
It is important not to be greedy when studying.
You should compare and check the level that your child can sufficiently digest before making a choice.
Especially up to the third grade of elementary school, it is best to ensure that textbooks do not take up too much of the total time spent learning English.
--- p.187

Now that I've finished my mother's English and homeschooling, I'm confident that although it wasn't an easy path, it was the right one.
Since returning to Korea, I have been sharing my experiences with many mothers through offline lectures at the library.
I wanted to be an active guide, giving them confidence and courage as they cautiously took their first steps on this path.

Publisher's Review
“I’m worried that my child will be the only one who can’t speak English at school.”
When you think it's too late, your child's English grows the fastest!

“I’m 8 years old and I’ve never read an English book before. Will I be okay?”
“Please tell me how to expose myself to English effectively before entering school!”
This is a question that mothers often ask the author through lectures and blogs.
Each time, the author answers like this:
“You say it’s too late? Don’t give up.
“Anyone can start learning English with an 8-year-old mom.”
Most mothers and children experience an 'English crisis' before entering elementary school.
If you are a mother who has never exposed your child to English, a mother who is conflicted between an academy and her own method, or a mother who is at a loss as to how to choose an English book, you can gain 'Mom's English confidence + Mom's step-by-step/period-based English exposure method' at the same time through this book.
