Logical thinking and writing
Description
Book Introduction
Reading and writing are the most important learning tools in college courses.
Knowledge acquired through reading is concretized and expanded through writing and speaking, and becomes part of the writer's general knowledge and worldview.
This textbook serves as a starting point for such a process, aiming to help students practice and acquire the fundamentals of various types of writing and speaking necessary for college life, such as essays, book reviews, personal statements, emails, and presentations.
Through the 'Logical Thinking and Writing' course, which is based on this textbook, we hope to 'acquire' the understanding that writing and speaking are useful means of self-expression that are performed according to procedures.

Publisher's Review
Knowledge acquired through ‘reading’
Embody and expand through ‘writing’ and ‘speaking’
Developing your own culture and worldview

Among the many expressions that characterize modern society, there is the term 'information overload.'
For this 'information deluge' to become a true blessing rather than a disaster, we must take the effort to divide, organize, and refine the information according to its value.
The importance of the ability to select and process information is emphasized.
However, selecting and processing information inevitably depends on human language acts such as speech and writing.
This is why we must learn to read and write, listen and speak.

The reason we often don't put in the effort to learn and practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking is because we think of these actions as natural, like breathing or eating.
But reading and writing, listening and speaking are not natural acts at all.
Even though they have been listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean for over 20 years, it is easy to find college students who still struggle to express themselves or express their opinions on specific topics.

It is true that there are cases where people have some kind of fear, especially when it comes to writing and speaking.
This is why reading, writing, listening, and speaking must be learned as part of the university curriculum.
This textbook was prepared with this problem in mind as a guide for college students to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
In particular, the focus was on writing and speaking, that is, composition and presentation.
