From The Art of War to Seth Godin's books
Goh Myung-hwan's successful business strategy, gleaned from thousands of books.

*** JTBC·Sebashi·Baedal Minjok Hot Topic Lecture ***

A book that was flooded with requests from readers to “please republish it,” and was being sold at used bookstores for more than ten times its original price.
Published in 2017 and serving as a guide for countless small business owners, Goh Myeong-hwan's "Read Books and Become a Sales God" has been out of print and is now available in a new edition.

Go Myeong-hwan, a master of alley business who has been generating over 1 billion won in annual sales for 10 years after four failed businesses, listens to lectures by 50,000 people every morning.
This book is a bit rough and clumsy, but it contains the early stories that made Go Myeong-hwan who he is today.
From the car accident in his 30s that changed the author's life, to opening "Buckwheat Flowers Have Blossomed" after four failures and achieving annual sales of 1 billion won, a dream number for small business owners, the author records in detail everything from the preparation stage to operation of a business.
It also contains vivid stories that can be helpful to those just starting out in business, showing how to get ideas from the book and apply them to their business.

The author says that the only thing we can do in the worst recession is to prepare more thoroughly.
Let's start preparing for a successful business with this book, as instructed by the book, not by people.

Into the book
I did business as people told me to and went bankrupt four times.
After that, I read books and did business as the book instructed, and it was a huge hit from the first day of opening, and I have been recording annual sales of over 1 billion won for 10 years now.
This book is about that process.

--- p.5

Books reduce trial and error.
You don't necessarily have to experience failure.
While gaining firsthand experience can be more valuable, sometimes it comes at a high price.
Even if you learn something hard through failure, it may be impossible to recover.
If you lose everything and people, what good are the lessons learned from failure?
So you have to read the book.
When doing something, read several books on the subject, apply your own situation to it, calculate and find the answer while applying it to your situation.
Reading books is a shortcut to making money.

--- p.53

The same goes for starting a business.
I need to be able to say in one word what I want to do.
When talking to investors, if you can speak clearly in one word, your chances of receiving investment will greatly increase.
In another book, The Icarus Story, Seth Godin states, "You should be able to explain what you're trying to do in 20 slides, each lasting 20 seconds."
The goal is to finish the story within 400 seconds, or 7 minutes.

--- p.69

It's actually quite obvious that you need to know the whole process.
However, there are many cases where people start a business without knowing this.
That's why I prefer franchises.
Because they make everything and bring it to you, and there's already a set manual, so you just have to follow it.
But even if you start a franchise, the owner must know how to do it.
The owner must know how to fry chicken.

--- p.84

An empire fell from a single nail.
Victor Hugo also wrote in Les Misérables that the Battle of Waterloo was decided by what a shepherd said to a Prussian in the forest: “You must go this way, not that way.”
Air China reportedly realized that not all passengers would eat in-flight meals and reduced the amount of food they prepared by 95 percent, which resulted in significant fuel savings.
How much is that worth? Ten million dollars a year! Small things are big things.
All big problems start from small things.
When doing business, you have to pay attention to even the smallest things.
That little thing snowballs and ruins the entire business.
Especially in today's world where the Internet and smartphones are so developed, rumors spread in an instant.

Publisher's Review
"A book that was being sold for 10 times its original price in a used bookstore."
Finally republished due to overwhelming reader requests!
Successful business strategies gleaned from thousands of books

Baedal Minjok? Sebashi's hotly anticipated lecture, a top-rated speaker with millions of views on YouTube's "Hawaii Mansion," "Jangsa Kwon Pro," and "Human Story."
Myung-Hwan Koh is a role model for small business owners and the greatest motivational expert of our time.

Goh Myeong-hwan's "Read Books and Become a Sales God" was published in 2017 and became a guide for many small business owners, but it is now out of print and unavailable.
Then, as readers started flooding in with requests to “please republish it,” and the book was being sold at used bookstores for over ten times the price, the number of readers coming back for more increased, so we decided to republish it.

Go Myeong-hwan, a master of alley business who has been generating over 1 billion won in annual sales for 10 years after four failed businesses, listens to lectures by 50,000 people every morning.
This book is a bit clumsy and crude, but it contains the early stories that made Go Myeong-hwan who he is today.

“Do what the book tells you, not what people tell you!”
From The Art of War to Seth Godin's books
What to read and how to apply it to business

In Korea, where half of restaurants close within three years and over 80 percent within five years, it is not easy to run a restaurant that consistently generates 1 billion won in annual sales for 10 years.
The author wasn't good at it from the beginning either.
I have failed four times in business, from a gamjatang restaurant, an indoor food truck, a snack bar, and a chicken breast business.
So what was different about the last fifth one?

After success, there was ‘reading books’.
Instead of asking questions to people, the author began asking questions to books.
We used the 'Five Conditions and Seven Strategic Strategies' (five conditions and seven strategies) from 'The Art of War' to select a startup item, inspired by the 'Sneezer' (a person who can't stand not talking) from Seth Godin's 'The Purple Ox' to create word of mouth, and applied the 'Finding Commonalities' from Daniel Pink's 'To Sell is Human' to respond to customers.
I searched through thousands of books, found answers in them, and started a business as the books told me to.

The results were surprising.
In the first year of business, the company achieved sales of 560 million won in just six months, and has maintained annual sales of 1 billion won even during crises such as MERS and COVID-19.
The author says that all of this is not something special that only he can do, but something that anyone can do.
He said that if you just buy and read 10 volumes, the book will tell you what to do next.

“Why am I doing this?”
From item selection to market analysis, turnover rate, and optimal profitability.
Things you must know before starting a business

As was the case with past authors, surprisingly many small business owners start businesses without preparation.
Without any specific goals, such as what their restaurant's main product is, what their turnover rate is, or what their target profit margin is, they are busy just getting through the day.
However, the author emphasizes that what is important is not immediate sales, but setting the value of what you do.

In addition to the item selection and promotion methods included in the existing book, we have included '7 Questions You Must Ask Before Starting a Business' specifically for those just starting out.
From setting goals like why you want to do this and how to set up a system to specific know-how like calculating the appropriate profit margin and turnover rate, we will show you how to increase the chances of success for your restaurant.

Every year, they say, 'This is the worst recession ever.'
But if you stand still because you can't see ahead, you won't be able to take a single step forward.
Now, when more thorough preparation is needed, this book will teach you what self-employed people need to know.
