The revised edition of 『Unplugged Boy』, newly published by Munhakdongne, follows the original form of the first edition published in 1997, but is implemented with a new design that captures Hyun-gyeom's pure soul.
Additionally, the book's value as a collector's edition has been enhanced by including magazine color pictorials not found in the first edition and two-color illustrations in new colors exclusive to the revised edition.
As a supplement to the first edition of Volume 1, we will be giving away a signed postcard containing a message from author Cheon Gye-yeong to readers and one SD character sticker.
Volume 2 includes one illustrated postcard and one famous scene sticker.

Through 『Unplugged Boy』, Cheon Gye-yeong established herself in the Korean romance comics world with her bold directing, powerful dialogue, uniquely charming characters, and sensational story development.
In the 90s, when the series was serialized, hip-hop and idol culture were gaining popularity. 『Unplugged Boy』 actively borrowed these elements into the work and shared the codes of the times with readers, which led to its explosive popularity.
Many famous lines from the work, including “When I’m sad, I dance hip-hop,” are still talked about regardless of generation.


The main character, Hyeon-gyeom, is like the incarnation of the title, ‘Pure Boy Without Pollution.’
Not only did he appear in various fancy goods such as diaries and stationery, he also became the model for an advertisement for his signature item, bubble gum.
Female readers who loved the innocent boy Hyun-gyeom have continued to look for and reminisce about him in their favorite actors and idols, even as time passes.
As a token of appreciation, 『Unplugged Boy』 collaborated with idol group TWS (Tours) in 2024, 30 years later, to produce a special package themed around the work, and included a song of the same name.
Even recently, the main character, Hyun-gyeom, has collaborated with the cosmetics brand Clio to release special products, and he still lives and breathes among us as an icon of youth.


Cheon Kye-young, a current master of Korean romance comics

In 1996, he won the grand prize in the Seoul Cultural Publishers magazine Wink's new cartoonist contest for "Talent" and published his first serialized work, "Unplugged Boy," in the same magazine in the same year.
『Audition』, serialized from 1997 to 2003, sold over 1 million copies and was a huge hit, even leading to the release of a theatrical animation.
Since then, he has been actively pioneering the field of pure love comics by releasing several works with unique charms, such as 『DVD』『The Girl in High Heels』『Pretty Man』.
In addition, he has expanded his creative field in many ways, including writing the novel “The Club” and working on HOT’s music video “Our Oath.”
The webtoon 『Love Alarm』, which was serialized on Daum Webtoon (now Kakao Webtoon) in 2014, has been produced into various media such as dramas and romantic variety shows.
Beyond creating works, the author has also been working hard to produce web novels and webtoons that can expand the world of "Love Alarm Universe."
Ahead of the 30th anniversary of Cheon Gye-yeong's debut, Munhakdongne plans to continue republishing the author's representative works, including "Audition" and "DVD."
