Into the book
I guess it's because these memories are still so vivid inside me that they drip out on my exhalation even though I just recall them and exhale.
It's still such a pretty color.
It's so painful, yet so beautiful.
I sat there for a long time, staring intently at the pink in the cup.
--- pp.26~27
“That’s why I go out with you.” It sounded both boastful and demanding.
It sounded like he was begging me to come with him, but it sounded like he was asking me to do something I needed.
“When I’m with you after being with the kids, it’s like going into the water.”
--- p.108
What is this yearning to become someone else, or to truly become myself? How does it come into being, grow, and become the very fabric of a person?
I couldn't understand the feeling, but I knew it when I felt the thick artificial skin on my fingertips.
Ah, this longing is definitely real here.
--- p.134
Mirin covered Ju-gyeong's ears and kissed her.
It wasn't because I knew J's conclusion.
Actions that are originally filled with love tend to have quite a few vague aspects.
Joo-kyung closed her eyes without realizing it.
In general, it is said that this is what you should do when kissing.
--- pp.228~229
One day, we will know the universe, be free in the universe, and be able to travel the universe.
But that hasn't been achieved yet, and instead, they're trying to conquer space, and they still can't make a single proper gesture in space.
But I still believe.
Humans will one day roam the universe.
Like this butterfly.
It's still such a pretty color.
It's so painful, yet so beautiful.
I sat there for a long time, staring intently at the pink in the cup.

Publisher's Review
Giant Books' anthology series, 'Giant Picks', begins.
You can meet the shining names selected by Giant Books, which has presented captivating stories that lightly transcend the boundaries drawn between novels, all in one place.
Giant Pick is for readers who don't care what genre a captivating story falls into: science fiction, fantasy, or pure fiction.
Whether it's a literary magazine, a book, or a web platform... ... This series will bring pure joy to readers who are ready to instantly fall in love with writers who each have their own unique light, even though they originated from different territories.
Giant Picks will be published once a year, in the first month of each year.
As we experience a new era and yearn to become a different person from last year, the energy contained in this story will gently transform anxiety into excitement.
When you first read the story, keep in mind the memories, feelings, and scenes that came to mind, and then read it again after a while and follow the changes in your heart.
I hope this becomes a story that is read over and over again throughout the year.
Like a timeless classic, an anthology series you'll want to read for a long time—Giant Picks.
In the first month of 2023, we present 『I'll Give You the Love That Remains』 by Lee Yu-ri, Kim Seo-hae, Kim Cho-yeop, Seol Jae-in, and Cheon Seon-ran.
"There's no word that can replace 'love.'" Kim Gyul-wool (BookTuber and author of "Winter Bookstore")
The name of all the hearts that want to be touched, love
For some, it will bring to mind a longing song, while for others, it will be a captivating sentence in its own right. 『I Will Give You the Love That Remains in Me』 contains five short stories.
Kim Gyul-wool (booktuber and author of “Winter Bookstore”), who read this work first, commented in the foreword what readers can expect from the anthology as follows:
“Each author’s novels will be equally entertaining, while at the same time allowing readers to enjoy each author’s different styles.
“I’ll Give You the Love That Remains” delights readers with the works of five authors, each with their own unique charm.” (If You Could See the Remaining Love, p. 281)
Lee Yuri: "I'll Give You My Remaining Love"
“Seongjae left.
“I was left with an empty house, a sick cat, and a love that was useless.”
The ingenious imagination contained in her first short story collection, Broccoli Punch, immediately aroused the interest of readers and critics.
Yuri Lee continues to write refreshing stories that make you feel good after reading them, just like her own story.
This work is also one of them.
A scene where, when the useless love after a breakup is transplanted using the 'emotional transfer' technique, the emotions exhaled along with the breath appear as a fluffy, pink gas.
In front of this, wouldn't readers be able to quietly imagine what colors and forms the emotions that are difficult to hide take?
Kim Seo-hae's "Poltergeist"
“I opened my eyes and looked outside.
“The city looked like a small model of summer in a glass bottle.”
This is Kim Seo-hae's first work to be presented to the world.
We are truly delighted to introduce this new artist, who excels at vividly capturing emotional states that flow, blend, and are constantly in motion.
The meeting of two boys that began in the summer, the strange events they experience, and the flow of feelings for each other that runs through that time.
As readers see the character say, “When I’m with you after being with the kids, it’s like going into the water” (page 108), they will be forced to look back at the language of emotions that have been expressed in a lumpy manner.
And I will definitely be looking forward to this author's next work.
Kim Cho-yeop's "Summer Vacation in Subdani"
“The president came to this conclusion.
“If the material of humans changes, wouldn’t the interaction between humans and the world also change?”
Kim Cho-yeop is an author who built a wide fan base with her first short story collection, "If We Can't Travel at the Speed of Light," and continues to make us look forward to her future with her first full-length novel, "Greenhouse at the End of the Earth," which has garnered fervent support.
This may be due to the author's curiosity to understand humanity, as well as his will to constantly renew that perspective through science fiction.
This work also contains its essence.
What if the material of humanity, the skin that interfaces with the world, were to change? What name would readers give to the character who listens to the client who asks for metal skin, saying he wants it to rust, and tries to make it happen? What name would readers give to that heart bent on understanding?
Seol Jae-in's "A Spoonful of Mirin"
“It was sad that I was such a coward, but I hated being sick so much.
The ending had to be gentle.”
From 『If I Drink Makgeolli with You』, which imprinted the name of the storyteller Seol Jae-in, to the recent work 『If I Go to You』, which created a community connected by affection and consideration rather than blood ties.
The author, who boasts a surprisingly prolific writing style, is interested in the stories of 'women for whom home is not a sanctuary.'
This work, too, is set in the aftermath of the apocalypse and tells the story of a woman who has lived a little longer in the world, saving a girl who has not yet reached adulthood.
Through this powerful narrative, you will come to feel that love for the weak and anger toward the world are in fact one and the same.
Cheon Seon-ran's "Record of Bones"
“Rovis’s holeless mouth traces the waveform along the sound.
“Mr. Park Do-hae, I will do my best on your final journey.”
By publishing her first short story collection, “The Love of a Certain Material,” and her novel, “A Thousand Blues” (winner of the grand prize in the long novel category of the Korea Science Literature Award), Cheon Seon-ran became a name that readers would never forget.
A unique sentence that does not stay on the surface, but goes deep and draws up, a persistent gaze that looks at the fateful events of human life such as death and loss.
The reason readers love him is probably because of his authorial attitude of facing darkness, even when it is painful.
What kind of scene would a human death portray to readers through the eyes of a mouthless undertaker robot, designed to listen silently and mourn? Its unexpected beauty will soothe the heart.
After reading all five works, what will be the one "one pick" that remains in readers' hearts? I hope readers will experience the joy of reading—the joy of finding this one captivating, and the joy of finding another that feels incomparably the best—with the Giant Pick, "I'll Give You the Love You Have Left."
I hope that the year for all readers will be filled with the names of all the hearts they want to reach and with love.
