Dangsan Station Ghost Park Ja-eon X Makmuga-nae Hell Guardian Do-myeong
An exorcism action drama unfolding to achieve the end of reincarnation and rebirth in paradise!

“Can you hear me? Sing a song.
“With Cherry Filter’s [Romantic Cat]…”

The 'Dangsan Station Ghost' appears on subway line 2 from Hapjeong to Dangsan on rainy days.
He approaches the human he sees and begs them to call him 'Romantic Cat'.
It is unclear whether he is just a mischievous ghost or a vengeful evil spirit, but Domyeong, the guardian deity of hell, heads towards the human world in order to drag him to hell.
To Domyeong, ghosts are nothing more than sinners who have refused the suffering of reincarnation that leads to paradise.

Just before taking the ghost to Dangsan Station, Do-myeong is caught by Avalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva who takes care of the ghosts of Ingando.
Guanyin urges Do-Myeong, who was trying to drag a ghost who was not even a demon, to hell.
At some point, Do-myeong forgot his compassion and became more focused on proving his own righteousness.
To such a man, Guanyin gives a special mission.

“We are going to give another year to the ghost of Dangsan Station, Park Ja-eon.

I will let him relive the most important year of his twenty-six years.
Domyeong, you helped Park Ja-eon's Bodhi heart blossom throughout the year.
“At the end of the year, please send Park Ja-eon to paradise.”

After going through reincarnation, one reaches a state of ultimate comfort and peace, free from suffering and worry, ‘Supreme Bliss’.
Dangsan Station ghost Park Ja-eon gets to relive the most important year of his life under the mercy of Avalokitesvara.
But I don't even remember why I died, or why the year I was reborn as a third-year high school student in 2011 was the most important year.
In the midst of all this chaos, Do-myeong and Ja-eon are given only one year.
Together, the two solve strange incidents in everyday life, crossing the line between life and death, human and ghost.
For the end of reincarnation, for rebirth in paradise.

Publisher's Review
[2019 Korea Content Awards] Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award
The beginning of a new reincarnation universe that will become the new standard of Korean comics!

『Paradise』 began serialization in 2018 on the independent serialization platform [Dillihub].
In an interview with [Dillihub], writer Dr. Gosari, who chose independent serialization on a new platform instead of a large platform, said, “I was curious about how far independent comics could go without the capital of large corporations,” and “I wanted to choose readers who would discover the true value of ‘Paradise’.”
Ultimately, comics are one of the means of communication between humans (writers) and humans (readers).
“We needed to think about various methods to ensure the smoothest communication possible and establish the optimal strategy,” he explained the reason for his choice.

Achieved sales of 200 million won in just 10 months of serialization.
A work that demonstrates the potential of the independent serialization (open platform serialization) market by breaking away from the current market structure that relies on exclusive webtoon platforms and agencies.
_[2019 Korea Content Awards] Overall Review of the Winners

And it didn't take a year to prove 'how far independent comics can go'.
After 10 months of serialization, it achieved sales of 200 million won solely through 'comic series' and won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in the comics category of the [2019 Korea Content Awards], setting a successful precedent.

This is not the only significance that 『Rebirth in Paradise』 has.
What ultimately made it a new and successful precedent was the solid worldview and fun of 『Paradise』 as a comic.
In 2011, the 'College Scholastic Ability Test Special Lecture' was first introduced and the 'Yuna's Haptic' mobile phone was in use.
It builds an interesting worldview using traditional themes of exorcism, reincarnation, and Buddhism in the recent past that evokes both familiarity and nostalgia.
The three-dimensional characters created by studying Buddhist art and researching traditional Korean ghosts unfold in this world.

Do-myeong and Ja-eon help them by looking not at how to exorcise ghosts, but at why beings who were once human had no choice but to turn into ghosts.
And in the process of helping and being helped, you learn.
How to forget and remember something (episode 2), how to love someone you once hated (episode 3), how to cherish something (episode 4)?
They learn the attitude towards life that is bound to be awkward in everyone's first life through their second life.

Stories of women who are living, want to live, and must live.
About the power of revival that blooms once again in the shackles of loss

"Paradise" is the story of Park Ja-eon, who died and came back to life, helping ghosts for a year and reflecting on the most important year for him.
Ja-eon died at the age of 26 and was reborn as a high school senior.
They say life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy when seen in long-shot.
But the seven years that have passed since then, especially the '3rd year of high school', are still too recent to be called a comedy or a tragedy.
What kind of drama will the life I live again be like?

The end of adolescence, the most important year for a person, is neither pure nor beautiful.
Trapped in a small classroom, they observe each other with sensitive and anxious eyes.
Friends whose minds I couldn't understand and a mother who was always nagging me were like tiresome shackles in my second life.
However, the reborn Ja-eon gradually comes to realize that he is still in the same shackles.
How easily I forgave and loved the friends I had so easily hated.
How much I resemble my mother, who I thought was difficult.
How precious are the moments when you can express your love in words.
What we only realize in hindsight is that life is both a dazzling tragedy and a bitter comedy no matter where you look at it.

The unique worldview created by incorporating traditional materials from the recent past and the stories of bold and individualistic female protagonists provide comfort and courage to those of us who are living, wanting to live, and must live today.
The author's ability to incorporate universal values into a feminist story also ensures the comic's enjoyment.
Also, although it was serialized on the web, it was a work created based on the form of a published manuscript, so the paper version of 『Paradise』 feels like it has been dressed in its own clothes.
Korean materials, vivid characters, and humanism that touches life.
『Paradise』, which combines both meaning and artistry, is opening up a new horizon for Korean comics beyond independent comics.
