Into the book
I'm going to quit.
sincerity.
It's not something I've thought about for a day or two, but this time, for real.
Now that I think about it, I should send a text message to the boss right now.
Since he is a human who might appear at any time, there is no need to wait until he shows his face to be polite and speak.
I put the mop into the bucket and fumbled around in my apron pocket for my cell phone.
As I was searching for the president's number, the door chime rang.
I put my phone back in my pocket and greeted the customer as instructed.
"welcome.
“It’s Comic Heaven.”
--- p.15

The guest seemed genuinely embarrassed.
“I don’t live here.
I've already booked a morning express bus, but I have nowhere to go until then.
“It was raining a lot, so I searched for a comic cafe and came here.”
That was a story that left even me speechless.
I came here thinking it would be better to stay here, so what do you mean you're telling me to leave?
Both I and the guests were confused about whether it would be safer to go out and go somewhere or to stay here.
--- p.34

“I’m not coming back today.
I came here to ask the HR team something.
Things like using maternity leave and childcare leave in succession and applying for salary.
“I sent an email to the team leader saying I would be coming on Tuesday to say hello while I was there, and when I got there,” Manager Shim chuckled.
“When I came here, they treated me like I wasn’t there.”
Jisoo places her clenched fists on her knees and bows her head.
--- p.60

It's the most tiring commute I've ever had.
Jisoo miraculously manages to get a seat on the bus and stares blankly out the window.
Even though it's a squatting seat, finding a seat during rush hour is usually not a good idea, and getting off work on time is also rare.
It was as if two unexpected blessings had come to me at the same time.
Come to think of it, today wasn't as bad as I thought, Jisoo thinks.
--- p.64

If there is a 23rd century in the predetermined future, then... ...we don't have to worry about things like Y2K.
After that, Meng Sun-young forgets most of our conversation over the next few months, but she remembers that she might be Leslie Cheung's counterpart and that she doesn't have to worry about Y2K.
On the other hand, I keep quiet because I think I might get caught by the National Intelligence Service if I go around talking loudly about these things.
--- p.88

“Why don’t you grow your hair out?”
After a long time, Yeongji asked first.
Her short hair, cut almost steeply from the sides of her ears to the back of her head, was covered by her relatively long, shiny top hair, and the piercing poking into her earlobe was half-hidden by her flowing top hair.
It was funny to think back to how my father ignored all these, so to speak, unladylike things and only praised me for losing weight by listening to him.
Suyeong hesitated for a moment before answering.
“Because there is a lot of hair.
Because it's not managed.
“Because it’s annoying.”
“I guess I look like my grandmother.
“My family is all thin.”
--- p.113

“This hair doesn’t suit me.”
Youngji smiled awkwardly, playing with the ends of the dark brown wavy wig the staff had put on her.
“It suits you.”
At Suyeong's words, Yeongji laughed again.
After paying for the two wigs I tried on, I still had over 1.5 million won left.
“With the remaining money, just do whatever you want with your sister.”
--- p.122

As I was halfway up the stairs, Minhyung started to come into view.
I felt a bit embarrassed and walked with my head down.
In this situation, I realized that it feels strange to see each other's faces and become closer to someone I'm neither close to nor a complete stranger.
My nephew climbed to the top of the stairs first and greeted Minhyung.
Perhaps because I was a little late in exiting, I felt like I was an uninvited guest in their promise.
--- p.130

“Would you like to have a drink?”
I liked that saying.
“Shall we meet properly?”
At my suggestion, Minhyung's face turned as red as when I first brought up the 'Saurus Ranger' story.
“I wonder.”
I'm not sure if I can like this person yet, but I feel like I want to make him like me.
--- p.149

Even I, who had just turned 30, was one of the younger members of the Baby Club.
I couldn't get used to the culture of the 21-2 year old bears, who would save up their allowance or part-time job wages to buy snacks, open them one by one, wrap them individually, put them in a box with a large drawing of Ki-young (why? Is it because he's the main character of [Black 'Rubber Shoes']?) and send it with a note writing down how much time they have left until their discharge. However, the sophisticated gift sense of the 31-2 year olds was something I wanted to learn from, emulate, and follow.
Thanks to that, I finally started to feel fortunate that I belonged here and not there.

Publisher's Review
Park Seo-ryeon, winner of the Hankyoreh Literary Award and the Young Writer's Award, has powerfully told stories of women's lives and solidarity through her novels, "The Worker Kang Ju-ryong," "Martha's Work," and "The Shirley Club."

Nine short stories, each with its own distinct personality, draw readers into the story and resonate with them.

Since the publication of Park Wan-seo's "Three Wishes" as the first volume, the short novel "Mind Walk" that combines novels and illustrations has now been published in a total of ten volumes, including "Welcome to Comic Heaven."
The insert illustrations for 『Welcome to Comic Heaven』 were drawn by Choi San-ho, an illustrator who is loved for his beautiful pastel-toned coloring.
Fifteen illustrations that seem to gently soothe the hearts of the protagonists in funny and sad situations, along with the novel, touch the emotional line.

If I had to pick something in common, it would be that these novels were written with the thought that it would not be easy to tell a serious story within this amount of space.
I hope you find it cute and fun to read.
I'm not always a bright person, so there are parts of me that are unintentionally gloomy.
If you find such a part, please think of it as finding a special item in a treasure hunt.
But if we look at the content, the selfish desire to look good is probably the strongest.
To whom? Probably to you.
I'm embarrassed, so just pretend I didn't hear that.
-From the author's note

“Why are you even bringing me that? I’m just going with you.”
Scenes from our time, where people in different situations broaden their understanding of each other.

The characters of "Welcome to Comic Heaven" are not easily discouraged even in the midst of a chaotic reality, but reach out to each other and continue their love.

"Love Makes the World Go 'Round," which is named after the OST of the animated series "The Powerpuff Girls," is a minimalistic story about lovers "Ro" and "Be" going to buy a chair, sensually capturing the scenery of love.

Around the corner, in the direction Vega pointed, there really was a conveyor belt sushi restaurant.
Although he was impressed by Law's memory, Law was also not sure if there really was a sushi restaurant there.
Ro figured that a sushi place had just opened up in that spot because he wanted to feed Bey sushi.
I believed without a doubt that this was the only way the imperfect and ever-changing universe worked.
As if there were not a single chair left in the universe to remember.

"Dinosaur Mania Age," which arouses curiosity from its title, is a story that unfolds when the main character accidentally brings his young nephew along to a place to see a fortune teller.
The protagonist's inner voice is depicted in an exciting way as unexpected situations unfold one after another.

Minhyung insisted on explaining it all while his ears were red all the way to the tips.
This is the kind of thing that makes your face turn red.
It's not when we brush hands while drinking together that you blush, but when I explain about a children's foreign film series.
A thought suddenly occurred to me.
Oh, my.
This is embarrassing.
Oh, my.
I don't think we should think of people as cute because of this.

The story of "Chuseok Mokjeon," about a man who loses his hair due to cancer and goes to Seoul with his cousin to buy a wig, is deeply moving.
The two cousins, who have completely different personalities and feel awkward meeting each other after a long time, gradually come to empathize with each other's pain and situation on the car ride to Seoul.

“Sister, have you been to Hongdae?”
"no."
As for Yeongji, he had never been to Seoul before.
All I remember from my school days was going on field trips to museums and amusement parks.
I wanted to see a bit of Seoul since I was already here, but since Sooyoung and I were so awkward together, I thought it would be difficult to ask her to do something like that, so I had given up on it from the beginning.
“Are you going to take me?”
“Why are you even taking me with you? I’m just going with you.”

121 "Just Before Chuseok"

From science fiction to comedy and horror
We invite you to the colorful and bustling world of Park Seo-yeon.

"Welcome to Comic Heaven" features short yet powerful stories optimized for the short story format. Nine stories, spanning a diverse range of genres, from science fiction to comedy, horror, and drama, await readers.
"The Almost Eternal Golden Age of Leslie Cheung" is a science fiction film about time travel.
The story begins on a winter night in 1999, just before the turn of the millennium, when aspiring actress Maeng Soon-young, walking home alone with ramen and a video of "Abijeongjeon" under her arm, meets a man who claims to be from the distant future.
This is an impressive work that cleverly deals with the subject of Leslie Cheung, which has recently been experiencing a re-release boom.

“We are planning to cast actress Maeng Soon-young as Leslie Cheung’s counterpart.”
“Leslie Cheung? The Leslie Cheung I know?”
I analyze the various emotions that appeared on Maeng Sun-young's face.
Joy and positive surprise stand out, but are soon overshadowed by doubt, while the shock and fear previously felt have not yet completely subsided.
-p.
74 "The Near-Eternal Heyday of Leslie Cheung"

The horror genre of "Minyoung" gives readers a fear of "loss of self" that becomes even more bizarre the more they think about it.

When I woke up, I was in a hospital.
I slept well and woke up.
When you sleep really well, your eyes tend to open on their own.
Even though you don't wake up because you have to go to work or have somewhere to go in the morning, there are times when you open your eyes and it feels like all the sleep you've left is being wiped away.
When the white, crisp bedsheet and the sunlight overlap as if they were originally one body, I wake up feeling refreshed as if my body is also one with them. That is the moment.

95 "Minyoung"

The novelist of "Milk Bottle" who received an offer to write a short article about Hannam-dong for Monthly Yoon Jong-shin and dreams of making a fortune and buying a house in Hannam-dong, makes people laugh.

This is a milk bottle.
The milkmaid was selling milk and in her head she was thinking about how she had already bought a cow.
Why do some people on the internet say things like, "If I just brush fingers with someone I like, I'll go, 'Wow...' Should I look into English kindergartens?"

Park Seo-ryeon's "Welcome to Comic Heaven," which tells the stories of young people of the same generation with a warm gaze and unique humor, will provide great fun and laughter to readers weary of the harsh world.
