The Windy Poetry Book, Volume 4, is a series of poetry books that contain stories and stories, and tells the story of the loneliness and longing of Dracula's child who lives alone.

Dracula's child lives alone.
At night, I wake up from a scary dream, and my fear leads to my imagination, making me cower.
Just as a child left home alone without his parents feels fear, Dracula's child also feels fear.
And I miss my mom.
It reminds me of a time when I lived a long time ago.
Then, suddenly, Dracula Child confesses his loneliness, saying that even though spring comes and flowers bloom, it has nothing to do with him, and that no one will read the beautiful and wonderful poems he writes.
It shows the appearance of a child with a delicate inner self, grumbling as if no one understands his feelings.

"The Poem of Dracula" examines the loneliness and fear of children that adults can easily overlook through the story of Dracula, a child who lives alone.
For adults who dismiss children who only laugh and chatter as having no reason to be lonely or afraid, and for children who grumble that no one understands their feelings, "The Poem of Dracula" offers a cool yet warm comfort.

Elementary 3rd grade, 1st semester Korean language 10-30.
Read the poem while thinking about the parts that you found interesting or moving.
Dracula is the protagonist of the poem?

When you think of Dracula, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Perhaps a terrifying image of a blood-sucking, night-time monster?
Or perhaps they are a different species living in a place separate from the human world.
"The Poems of Dracula" can be said to be an autobiographical poem filled with the lonely heart of Dracula's child.
In order to explore the theme of loneliness, author Kim Gaemi chose the Dracula Child, an uncommon character, as the protagonist.
This was so quirky and yet so appropriate.

Me too like you
I have two eyes
It has two legs

Sleep like you
Have a meal

Wearing clothes
Thinking about what to do today

I desperately want a friend like you
I like listening to stories

Yesterday and today, I am like you
I will talk to you today and tomorrow too

It's me, open the window
--- "It's no different"

Young readers will see into Dracula's mind in ways they never thought possible through The Poems of Dracula.
When you don't think about an object, it's not fear or anything.
But the moment you feel it and become conscious of it, it takes on a greater meaning.
But while Dracula is often an object of fear, here he appears as a lonely and desolate child.
Author Kim Gaemi twisted the typical image of Dracula, creating a strange and different side of Dracula that makes us think about it.
Readers who see the poem do not feel a scary Dracula, but rather a lonely Dracula who is always alone.
Rather than looking at the universally recognized appearance or image, we come to understand and empathize by looking into the true inner self.

Meaning invisible

Dracula's child dreams too.
I have a scary dream.
But don't scream or cry.
Because there is no one to come running to you.
Dracula's child is always alone.
No, actually, you are not alone.
There are ghosts and spiders hovering around Dracula's child.
But Dracula's child doesn't see them.

No matter how long I cover myself with the blanket,
It's not getting warm

No matter how long I don't eat,
Don't die

Even though spring comes and flowers bloom
It has nothing to do with me

At least write a beautiful and wonderful poem
No one reads it
--- "Monologue on a Cloudy Day"

Dracula's child wants someone to look at him, but he can't see the ghosts and spiders that are always around him.
Through these relationships, 『The Poem of Dracula』 tells us that loneliness is not simply a matter of physical distance, but rather the loneliness and sadness that comes from not being able to see each other even when in the same space.
Readers can look into their own lives through The Poems of Dracula.
You can feel like you are in the same space as a stranger, a friend or family member you have never seen before.
Additionally, you may find comfort in your lonely heart that no one cares about.

1.
Is there a reason why the picture is expressed as if it was drawn by a child?
I was worried that if I expressed Dracula's child's loneliness in a solitary atmosphere, it would be too heavy.
However, I was worried that if it was too light, it would ruin the atmosphere.
After thinking about how to balance the different feelings, I thought it would be good to express it in a way that felt like it was drawn by a child.
I thought that fear was felt as humor, and lightness as purity.

2.
What is the focus of the picture?
I took into account that the readers of this book are young.
I thought a lot about what would be fun for children, so I came up with a comic book-like structure.
I wanted to portray vivid characters, such as ghosts without pupils and spiders with six eyes (though they actually have eight).

3.
Is there anything you would like readers to know?
Although the story ends with Dracula alone, the ghost is actually watching Dracula with interest throughout the story.
The ghost is afraid of Dracula, so he can't approach him. If he were to muster up the courage to meet him, it would be fun to read while imagining how the story would unfold.

Poet Kim Gaemi's Poetry Story

One of the things I hear sometimes is the term 'negative emotions'.
I couldn't understand that at all.
I think at some point our society started forcing emotions on us.
Do you feel ashamed of loneliness?
If you say you're lonely, they call you a loser, and it seems like they're forcing brightness and lightness on you.
That's ridiculous.
Because loneliness is a powerful force that can achieve anything.
Who can be free from loneliness until death? Perhaps it's the feeling that occupies the largest portion of our emotional lives.

This book is about loneliness, or the fear of loneliness.
What can be done in a society that doesn't know that forcing emotions is violence?
Being lonely and being weak are not the same thing.
There is no need to try not to be lonely.
Because emotions are not a 'problem' to be solved, but a 'state' to be endured.
You can't avoid being lonely, but you can change your attitude toward loneliness.
I wish there was a place where we could talk about things like that, and that's where "The Poems of Dracula" comes in.
