Publisher's Review
The best children's graphic novel of the year, crossing the worlds of comics and picture books with fresh imagination.

A diamond-shaped house that is difficult to sit or lie down in properly, a pointy table, a seesaw that pokes your butt… … .
Even though Bibitown is a bit odd and uncomfortable, the Bibis (who call themselves 'Bibis' in Bibitown) truly love it and know how to enjoy it.
Even though they were previously abandoned dogs and cats by humans.
The innocent and humorous actions and lines of the baboons came from the author's fresh imagination.
The author created a utopian space where abandoned animals can regain their happy daily lives and live a second life.
Turning the pages of the book, you will see at a glance the unique Vivi Town and the unique Vivies.
You can also catch a glimpse of the village scenery, which has everything, including accommodations, restrooms, bathhouses, restaurants, and beauty salons, as well as the daily conversations of the baboons.
The second work in the 'Pang Graphic Novel' series, which presents works that allow children familiar with games and video media to have a diverse and wide range of literary experiences, 'This is Vivitown' has received favorable reviews such as 'a book that exquisitely captures the world of comics and picture books' (Bologna Ragazzi Award judges' commentary), and is considered one of the most notable children's graphic novels of 2022.
Filled with a variety of elements, including the expressions and actions of adorable animal characters, lively dialogue in speech bubbles, and free-flowing layouts, every corner of the book is filled with plenty of content to ensure children have a fun reading experience.

Vivitown, a utopia for abandoned pets
A message of comfort to all the dogs and cats in the world.

Walter abandoned at a highway rest stop, Graton wandering around a gas station, Bibidu tied to a pole… … .
Abandoned by humans, lonely dogs and cats wandering the streets create a new, happy life with other abandoned animals in the ideal Vivitown they built with their own strength.
Through this book, children will once again reflect on the true meaning of 'companionship' and realize that companion animals are not human possessions, but 'friends who live together as partners with humans.'
Just as the abandoned animals in the work lead happy lives in Bibitown, I dream of a world where all animals in the world enjoy the right to live happily and not be abandoned.
I sincerely hope that after reading this book, our children will reflect on the weight of living with a life, of taking responsibility for a small life, and learn to cherish all living beings.

The shining value of ‘the joy of being together’ _ We will continue to achieve even greater things together in the future!

Bibitown is in shambles due to a strong typhoon.
At that time, Bibidu took the lead and announced the plan to restore Bibitown.
According to the plan, the baboons build houses, make furniture and utensils, and faithfully carry out their assigned tasks.
And finally, Bibitown is successfully restored.
The new Bibitown has a very different atmosphere from Walter's Bibitown.
The diamond-shaped space has been transformed into a unique space for each house, and the Vivi enjoys a leisurely afternoon among the gardens filled with flowers and trees.
However, Walter cannot hide his disappointment at the thought that the Vivitown he had founded has disappeared.
The Viviennes approach Walter and sincerely comfort and convince him that although "it's not as perfect" as before, "Vivitown will always be Vivitown" and "everyone's heart is touched everywhere."
“We will continue to do great things together in the future.” As Bibidu said to Walter in comfort, the two run ‘Walter and Bibidu’s Architecture Office’ together.
As children watch animals injured by humans work together to overcome difficulties, they will come to recognize each other's differences and realize the value of the "joy of being together" that allows them to achieve greater things through communication rather than conflict.

A book full of unexpected fun that makes you want to read it over and over again

The materiality of this book is as unique and creative as the author's ingenious imagination.
From the eye-catching emerald-toned cover to the title's typography, which reflects the fluffy Bichon Frise fur and Bibidu's palm-tree headdress, the book's appeal is truly enhanced.
Additionally, the three perforations on the cover, which are shaped like a diamond, the symbol of Vivitown, make readers want to enter Vivitown.
The perforated cover and the attached pages feature humorous baboons in each diamond-shaped room, creating a visual effect that seems to warmly invite the reader.
The artist delicately expressed the straight lines and geometric building forms of Vivitown, including outlines, using a Rotring pen, which is used to draw thin lines on architectural drawings, and implemented clear and vivid colors using a marker.
In addition, the book is arranged in a variety of ways, from a spread scene that allows you to see the inside and outside of Bibi Town in detail at a glance to a comic-style segmented composition with small images and text flowing together, adding a pleasant rhythm to each page.
The author, who usually enjoyed drawing Bichon Frise, set the two main characters of this book, Walter and Bibidu, as Bichons, the same breed.
However, readers can tell at a glance that the two have completely different tastes and inclinations.
Walter with his diamond-shaped glasses and Bibidu with his palm-tree headdress.
This is thanks to the contrasting styles of the two characters.
Another small pleasure you can't miss in this book is finding lovable and humorous characters in every scene, including the Three Musketeers Kitty, Kiki, and Kit, as well as the inimitable partners Poppy and Pipo.

A witty parody that will help you discover the meaning of architecture, space, and design.

Children can naturally think about the meaning of architectural art and space by looking at the architectural forms of Bibitown, each designed by Walter and Bibidu.
Walter uses straight lines and right angles in furniture and props such as desks, sofas, and glasses, pursuing simple and unique architectural forms made up of diamonds.
On the other hand, Vividu designs comfortable spaces that are in harmony with nature, with soft curves and circular shapes that take into account the individual characteristics of each resident.

The author explores the physical and psychological impact of architecture and design on users.
It conveys interesting ideas to young readers.
_From the Bologna Ragazzi Award judges' comments

Walter bibi's name seems to have been influenced by Walter Gropius, who founded the German Bauhaus and launched the modern art movement, and Walter's 'Lips Sofa' was reborn based on the 'Mae West Lips Sofa (1937)', a piece of furniture designed by Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali.
Walter's BB Town also brings to mind the Unite d'habitation (1947-1952), a mixed-use residential building designed by Le Corbusier, the father of modern architecture who valued practicality and efficiency.
Children will gain an engaging understanding of architectural art through the author's witty parodies of modern architecture and design, and discover new meanings in the spaces that surround them.
