Ghost Teacher and Another World
Description
Book Introduction
Surely you haven't forgotten us?
The most popular children's cartoon ever featured in textbooks, 'Ghost Teacher', is back!

A children's comic that started as a monthly magazine serial, was included in elementary school textbooks, was invited to overseas book fairs, and won the Bucheon Comics Award, the most prestigious award in the Korean comics field.
There are countless words to describe author Nam Dong-yoon's 'Ghost Teacher' series, but this is the one that best describes it.
'There are children who haven't read, but there are no children who have read only once!'

The 'Ghost Teacher' series, which has been loved by young readers since the first book, 'Ghost Teacher and Real Children', was published in 2014, is back with a new story after three years.
Author Nam Dong-yoon, who has always chosen ordinary children as his protagonists rather than 'someone special,' has turned his attention to the small, ordinary beings around us in his new book, 'The Ghost Teacher and Another World.'
From dusty piggy banks, old teddy bears, and ownerless umbrellas to swallows and bees that have disappeared from view one day.
It is thrilling and exhilarating to see the beings we have inadvertently forgotten become charming characters that we can never forget once we see them, and confidently speak out for themselves.

Don't be disappointed that the book is smaller.
The amazing tenacity with which he packs over a hundred characters into a single scene, and the 'Ghost Teacher' humor that makes both children and adults giggle every time they turn the page, have become even more powerful.
You'll be left with a poignant feeling as you laugh heartily and then suddenly discover the author's sincerity in cherishing lonely children, forgotten objects, and lost lives.

Publisher's Review
Small, ordinary objects come to visit the children of Class 1, Grade 4!

Taehyun, who is thinking about how to confess to Danbi, looks around when he hears a 'groaning' sound coming from somewhere in the room.
And on one side of the desk, he finds a piggy bank that is dying of hunger.
The piggy bank 'Savings' explodes with anger at Taehyun, who had completely forgotten that he had a piggy bank.
"You selfish child who only thinks of yourself! Do you know the desperate hunger I feel?! I'm hungry too!"

Taehyun sets out to find the coins to give to Jeogeum, but it isn't easy.
Money stolen from other piggy banks is considered "poison," and should only be pure allowance! Can Taehyun save the coins before Jeogeum-i starves to death? Meanwhile, Boram is kidnapped by dolls on her way home from school.
The one who appears leading the small but terrifying dolls is 'Gomsuni', the doll that Boram once cherished! Gomsuni has created an underground world by collecting abandoned dolls and has become the heartless and tearless tyrant 'Gomlizabeth', waiting for the day when she can take revenge on Boram.
Boram's trick of trying to trick Gomsuni with sweet words is quickly exposed, and Boram engages in a breathtaking chase with the dolls from the underworld.
In addition, Su-jeong, who opened an umbrella whose owner was unknown and was left at school due to a rain shower, ends up in an unexpected misfortune because of the umbrella, which she claims was once a swallow.

"The Ghost Teacher and Another World" contains three fantastic adventures that unfold when an unexpected being appears before a child living an ordinary life.
This time, small and seemingly insignificant objects come to the 4th grade class 1 children who have been pouring out their worries and desires.
The moment you listen to that story, a world you've never seen before opens up and a fantastic adventure begins.

Stories of beings we've all had at least once and easily forgotten.

A piggy bank that you bought out of curiosity and then pushed to the corner of the room, a doll that you once treasured but can't even remember when you lost it, an umbrella that you don't know how precious it is because it's so easy to get...
"The Ghost Teacher and Another World" presents unique and individual faces and names, and stories that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, to beings who are easily abandoned or forgotten.
From Jeogeum-i, who shouts "Honey idea!" to Jesun-i, who raps at a rapid pace while repeatedly saying "Jijibaebae," to Gomlisabeth, the "Number One in the Underground Doll World," who is so cute despite her rather delinquent appearance! Not only are the main characters with unrivaled presence, but even the smallest characters that are easy to miss if you don't look closely have their own expressions and stories.
Another great pleasure of this book is examining each of these characters one by one.

The unpredictable developments and humorous lines of the next scene are filled with the author's loving gaze on the world we live in.
The number of abandoned dolls each year that Gomlisabeth tells us with anger is an actual statistic of the number of abandoned dogs that occur in our country every year.
The episode "Boram in Wonderland of Dolls" contains the author's concerns about abandoned animals.
Meanwhile, in one corner of the scene where Sujeong goes to find the swallow's house, a bee that lost its baby is crying, and in the writer's studio in the epilogue, there are posters opposing 'abandonment of companion animals' and 'Please find a home for the swallow'.

The author does not try to teach children with moral tales.
At the heart of the story, I hope that readers will discover the love for small and fragile lives in scenes that can only be seen if you look closely.
It may be the belief that artist Nam Dong-yoon gained from meeting thousands of children and drawing their caricatures for over a decade.
The belief is that children are the first to discover and listen to small and weak lives.

A "real" children's cartoon that anyone can laugh at with confidence.

Taehyun, Boram, Sujeong, of course, Donggon, Sanghyun, Danbi, Ryeoun, Teacher Kang Gwishin…
Readers of the 'Ghost Teacher' series will find familiar faces in 'Ghost Teacher and Another World'.
The children of Class 1, Grade 4, going back and forth between the school playground and the stationery store are a continuation of the previous story, making loyal readers of the series smile.
The 'Ghost Teacher' series makes anyone, regardless of age, eagerly await the next story once they've read it.
In fact, on author Nam Dong-yoon's blog, there are so many lovely curses (!) from readers who urge the author, saying things like, "I first read this series in elementary school, and even now that I'm in middle school, I'm still waiting for the new book."

Amidst the abundance of provocative cartoons and educational cartoons full of information, the reason this harmless and lovely children's cartoon has been loved for so long is because the 'Ghost Teacher' series is a story about all of us, ordinary people.
It is thanks to the 'sincerity' that the 'worries of the day' of ordinary children around us are considered most important, rather than 'one special protagonist', and that all kinds of laughter and imagination are used to solve those worries.
As time goes by, loyal readers who are no longer children hope that the healthy laughter of the 4th grade class 1 will continue, and new young readers can have fun playing with the children in the books who are just like them.
The 'Ghost Teacher' series will firmly establish itself as a 'real' children's comic that both children and adults can read and laugh heartily together.
