Publisher's Review
The tiger we thought had disappeared has appeared right next to us!
Bringing the protagonist of an old tale to the 'here and now'

"Ruho" is a Korean fantasy fairy tale that begins with the unique question, "What would it be like if a tiger transformed into a human lived among us?"
In a quiet village, a tiger, a rabbit, and a magpie, who have transformed into humans, live together in one house.
Tiger 'Ruho', rabbit 'Dalsu', magpie 'Heeseol', and their guardian tiger 'Gubong' live together with people, believing that people and animals can communicate with each other.
However, a hunter named Kang-tae, who calls animals that have transformed into humans monsters, appears and begins to suspect Luho and his friends.
The story unfolds in an exciting way with the confrontation between those who chose transformation to survive and the hunters who have been chasing tigers for generations, and heads towards an unexpected conclusion.

"Ruho" brings to mind the concerns of today by calling out the tiger, which in ancient tales often engaged in confrontation with humans, as a "transformed tiger" who must live while hiding the stigma of being different from the majority.
Luho's roar, as he embraces his friends in the same situation and protects his precious land, resonates powerfully in today's society, where discrimination and hatred against minorities are more intense than ever.
We hope that the new story that emerged in the Year of the Black Tiger will resonate deeply with readers.

If a transformed tiger lived among us, wouldn't it look something like this? It would seem ordinary enough to go unnoticed by anyone.
It might seem odd and annoying to some people.
But he sees and hears things that others don't know, and he lives each step firmly with a tremendous roar in his heart.
May the hidden tigers no longer be chased, and may we all be at peace in whatever form we may take.

A tiger that transformed into a human to survive
An exciting showdown between tiger hunters!

"Ruho" is a lively and exciting narrative about the confrontation between shape-shifting animals that live like humans in the human world and the hunters who pursue them.
Tigers who have lost their home have gathered in a deep mountain valley that opens its doors only to those who have lost their home.
It was not easy for tigers who used to roam the green mountains to live together in a small space.
The mountain, unable to bear to watch, taught the tigers how to live together by transforming into humans.
They believed that humans and animals had the same mind and could communicate with each other.
Their descendants are the main character, 'Ruho' and his friends.

One day, a family of hunters who lost their ancestors to tigers and have been hunting tigers for generations, seeking revenge, move in next door to the Luho family, who live peacefully and quietly among people.
Kang-tae, a hunter who can see through transformations, stirs up the entire village and threatens Luho and his friends.
Amidst the tense atmosphere, a chase between hunters and transformed animals unfolds, and hidden secrets are revealed one by one.
The story, written in calm sentences with a solid narrative, will keep readers thrilled until they turn the last page.

“We can always choose our own path!”
A fairy tale that shines with the courage to open one's heart to another being.

"Ruho" criticizes the reality of our society, which distinguishes between the "ordinary" and the "abnormal," and the strong and the weak, and labels them accordingly.
As rumors of a tiger's appearance spread, the scene where people from the broadcasting station and onlookers of all kinds gather at the place where Luho lives vividly reflects the current reality of creating and spreading sensational issues.
However, among those who chase tigers, there are those who welcome beings different from themselves and call for returning the forest to the tigers.
The hunter's daughter, 'Jia', also willingly opens her heart to Luho and his group, contrary to her father's choice.
The courage of those who connect with and stand in solidarity with those who are rejected by the majority shows us all that we have the potential to make better choices.

We can always choose our own path.
Don't forget that.

Luho wonders why he has to live hiding his tiger form, and constantly asks himself what it means to live authentically.
Although he struggles to learn how to transform because he cannot understand why he must transform into a human, he succeeds in transforming because of his desire to save his friends and family in danger and his belief that even humans and tigers can ultimately share their hearts.
Instead of fighting or running away from those who call him a monster, Luho declares that he will “find my own place to live, like a tiger.”
It is a powerful roar that seeks to embrace the world while protecting one's own identity.
We all have a side of ourselves that we hide from others in order to fit into the 'normal'.
Luho's strong heart will give the isolated beings who live in hiding the strong courage to live as themselves.
