Book Introduction
A word from MD
A refreshing spring poetry collection that signals the end of winter
Poet Bang Ju-hyeon's first collection of poems has been published with illustrations by Nanda, author of "Acoustic Life."
This collection of poems captures the chatter of friends, the thrill of opening the classroom door, poems that immediately bring to mind school life, and even moments in life that make adults ponder.
February 14, 2020. Children's PD Kim Soo-yeon
A collection of poems in the color of forsythia, bravely returning after overcoming winter.

A child who just started first grade yesterday is forcefully making his way through a road jam-packed with adults ("I Can Go Alone").
The iron that wanted to be a ship that sailed the sea became a kettle, but the voice that shouted “I- came-// Ppu- pu--/ Ppu- pu--” was as loud as a ship’s horn (“Kettle”).
The residents of the five-story Wish Villa tear down the five-story dream tower in the morning and rebuild it every night ("The Five-Story Dream Tower of Wish Villa"), and the grandmother who rides a quadricycle brags every day that she will take off the training wheels after her 70th birthday ("It's a Good Thing").
Poet Bang Ju-hyeon's poetry is lively.
Even in situations that could be overwhelming or disappointing, all beings remain undaunted.
Starting from where we are now, we each move forward bravely at our own pace.
Somehow, I feel courageous.
Because courage is placed firmly on top of the moments of pain, sadness, and frustration that linger around us and come to us from time to time, courage reaches deep into the heart.
Therefore, the true value of this lively collection of poems lies in its affirmation of life while preserving the “distance between dreams and reality” (Ian) and the pain that comes from it.

"I Came" is the first collection of poems by poet Bang Ju-hyeon, who won the first Dongsi Majung Poetry Award for "Teapot."
It contains poems that are as exciting as when Jjajangmyeon is served for lunch, as pleasant as when you see soap that has been washed white, and as refreshing as wanting to take a walk on a clear day.
It's not easy to give strength while making people laugh, but "I'm Here" manages to do just that.

Publisher's Review
Look at what's hidden in the background, what's outside the scene

The poems in “I Came” are “familiar yet unfamiliar, common yet rare, old yet new.” (Ian) This is because while they use scenes from ordinary daily life as their subject matter, they focus on things in those scenes that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Things like the “seven jjajang dots” that appeared on the bridge of a child’s nose after eating jjajangmyeon (Jjajang Day), and the soap that “washed” a child’s face after washing it (Washing Face).
Even in the scene of chopping wood with an axe, the poet brings out the voice of 'motang' (a piece of wood used as support when chopping wood), which is neither the axe nor the wood.
Poet Bang Joo-hyun, who spends every day with children in elementary school, has an eye that does not miss the small things, the things that are considered trivial, and the things that can only be seen when you look closely.
In "I Came," all the beings who were hidden as backgrounds are the main characters.

Mrs. Pamtimai coming out of the greenhouse carrying a bouquet of roses
Teacher Lee Seo-yeon of Class 2, Grade 6, explaining a math problem
Mr. Kim Yu-seong walking with a briefcase
Park Mi-yang, a village bus driver
Everyone stop working for a moment
Looking at the distant sky
Around 11 o'clock
(-Full text of "Open Class for Parents")

Parents who were unable to attend the open parent class due to work look up at the distant sky for a moment from their respective workplaces.
This is the scene around 11 AM on a weekday.
While dealing with the subject of open classes for parents, it focuses on what is outside the classroom rather than inside.
This is precisely the uniqueness of poet Bang Ju-hyeon's perspective.
It goes beyond the invisible to reach those who are not here with us now.
This gaze makes us look at the empty seat left by Yeon-woo, who transferred schools, even in the noisy classroom ("Transfer"), and while hearing about a new chicken restaurant, it makes us think of the stores that have closed and disappeared ("Chicken Chicken").
The density of the world contained in our eyes and hearts increases significantly.

To the park, to the path
I'm tired from taking care of my grandfather
Mingaju walking stick

From early evening
Without even wiping your dirty feet
Sleep standing in the hallway

The ceiling is
The light that was turned on when I greeted my grandfather
Turn it off quickly

The wall is
To the slipping cane
Give me the corners
(-Specialized in "Ming-Aju Cane")

Looking after you from time to time and supporting you quietly,
Even if it's a little far away, it's in the closest spot

The poet's unique eyes, which see even the unseen and the absent, give us an idea of where he stands.
The position will be high enough to view the world from a wide angle, allowing you to see even those who are not present, while still being close enough to carefully observe the beings in every corner.
Like the '5 millimeter railing above the outlet' (「Landing」) where dust safely lands to avoid the vacuum cleaner, the 'wall' that gently gives a corner to the Ming-Aju cane that is slipping from exhaustion (「Ming-Aju Cane」), and the 'traffic light' that quickly turns on the red light for the children who rush to the school gate and get on the academy bus (「School Gate Turtle Survives」).

“I came” seems to be “one step away,” but it is a place that “looks over you from time to time” and “quietly supports you,” that is, “even if it is a little bit away/ it is the closest/ there” (“Thumb’s Place”).
Thanks to this, Hoon's bicycle can continue to move forward even though it is swaying ("Hoon"), and the first grader can bravely go through the crowd of adults on his own ("I Can Go Alone").

everyone!
“Oh, so cute!”
When you hear a sound
You have to run with all your might.
Otherwise
I'll never see my friends again.

(-「Snail Safety Education」Specialist

Nanda, the author of "Acoustic Life," has arrived.

The laughter and spirit of “I’ve Come” are further enhanced by Nanda’s illustrations.
He has a huge fan base thanks to his album 『Acoustic Life』, which meticulously depicts the subtle changes in repetitive daily life.
This time, the fun of watching the poem is enhanced by the lively spotlight shining on every corner that the poet's eyes turn to.
From the grandmother who falls asleep in the dentist's chair out of fear, to the village bus and its drivers exchanging greetings, to the snail children receiving safety training, Nanda's signature touch brings the characters to life, roaming around the book without any fuss, broadening the scope of the poem.
