Into the book
It was a week after I filled in the blanks on the calendar.
The first week of January should be a time of year filled with hope and excitement, but I was so depressed.
I promised myself over and over again that I would definitely start a diet starting January 1st, but I ended up going to a cafe and having coffee and even dessert.
I was disappointed that I was putting off my resolution until tomorrow, less than a day after I made it.
And I was also angry at myself for staying up all night because I didn't do the work I needed to do to prepare lectures and create content on time.
It was a week full of such bad feelings.
The following week, I looked at the calendar on the wall again to take notes, and for some reason, it felt different than before.
Rather than moments of disappointment or regret, there are times when you think, "Well, I did at least one thing a day. That's okay."
Looking back on the past week, I feel like I've had a pretty good time.
When something is going on, there are times when you get caught up in the situation and emotions of the moment and can't see other things.
As time passes and you step back and look at things, they look different.
That's exactly what I did back then.
Things that were invisible when I was caught up in negative emotions began to become visible only as time passed and my mind calmed down.
--- From Chapter 1, "Why It's Okay Even If Today Was Bad"
A mandala is made up of nine squares arranged in a 3x3 grid.
In the central square, write your core goal or topic, and in the surrounding eight squares, write your detailed goals or methods to achieve your core goal.
Each subgoal becomes the center of a new 3x3 grid where you can write down a more specific action plan.
It takes quite a bit of time to write down your core and sub-goal keywords, but I think it's a necessary time because it's a time to think about your life's priorities.
I'm using five spaces instead of eight for writing down my detailed goal keywords.
It's less of a burden than when there were eight spaces, and five spaces are enough.
--- From Chapter 1, "Let's Draw the Big Picture of Life"
Digging means 'to dig'.
I literally decided to dig into my taste in the subject.
I think my tastes will become a little clearer if I freely write down things that interest me about that month's topic.
You might even find commonalities between the things you like.
So the name of this taste discovery project is 'Monthly Taste Digging'.
Finally, on December 31st, I closed the cap of my pen after writing down my taste digging record for the day, then spread out my records for the year on my desk and looked at them for a long time.
Only then did I understand what 'taste' was.
Taste wasn't something that everyone could see as being fancy.
It didn't have to be clearly visible.
It wasn't that I had to know more or more deeply than others, nor was it that I had to be so affectionate that I could talk for hours.
It's exactly the same as the meaning of the word in the Korean dictionary.
'The process of figuring out what direction you want to go in is itself a taste.'
--- From Chapter 2, "In the Direction My Heart Desires"
I mostly write in dot notes.
When I filled it with text, it was more readable than lined or grid notebooks.
Most of the transcriptions are done after I finish reading the book.
The reason is that I want to write after understanding the flow of a book.
After reading a book and listening carefully to what the author is trying to say, I write it down by summarizing the important points and adding my own thoughts.
While reading a book, I keep an index on pages where I can relate to parts I want to remember, or sentences I want to quote someday.
And because it is realistically difficult to transcribe every sentence with an index, I set the volume to not exceed two double-page notebook pages per book.
I found it helpful to set a time limit so that I could practice picking out sentences that I thought were important.
--- From Chapter 2, “What Happens When You Copy Good Sentences”
Although quite some time has passed, I still think it was thanks to Mirae Diary that I was able to achieve my dream of completing the Great National March.
It was a valuable experience that made me realize that the experience of imagining and recording vague thoughts in concrete terms can bring them closer to reality.
Since then, whenever I have a strong dream or a goal I want to achieve, I have developed the habit of writing a future diary.
When you write a future diary, sometimes it comes true, and sometimes it goes beyond that.
Of course, there are times when things don't work out, but the moment I write in my diary, my heart races and I gain the courage to start anything.
I want to believe in the potential within me that hasn't yet blossomed, and I also feel grateful for things that haven't happened yet.
So I can't help but write it.

--- From Chapter 3, "How to Make Your Dreams Real"
Publisher's Review
“I’m writing today too because I want to become a little better.”
A journey of records that organizes the day and nurtures the mind
As you live your life, there comes a time like that at least once.
There are times when we hesitate before a new beginning, stop working because of the burden of having to achieve something, or become exhausted because things don't go our way.
There are many tools to comfort your heart, and one of them is ‘writing.’
The author of 'The World of Records' says, 'Records make life more solid and meaningful.'
That is why I recommend that you do not neglect your efforts to write consistently, even if it is bothersome and difficult.
If you keep recording a little bit every day, at some point, small but big changes will come.
Records help us overcome life's hurdles with flexibility.
This is something the author experienced firsthand.
It was records that helped me get through the meaningless times when life was going the opposite way I wanted and I had no accomplishments or successes.
My life started to change little by little after I started writing things down in my notebook.
By carefully observing the passing days, examining the past routines, and getting to know myself deeply, I found hope that things would get better.
What started as a short diary grew to fill a bookshelf, and the records uploaded to social media received countless likes, increasing the number of followers to 100,000.
One-line diary, routine tracker, observation log, sentence collection, etc.
Encounter big changes from small record-keeping habits
『The World of Records』 contains the author's records, methods, and examples, from short notes to a 365-day calendar and photo log.
Chapter 1 is a time to increase the 'length' within.
Let me start with a slightly lighter record.
It is a brief history of my experiences, a one-line diary, and a health record to check my condition.
If you write honestly, you can look closely at the day you spent.
Those continuous records serve as the foundation for expanding my world.
In Chapter 2, we begin with ourselves and explore the wider world by understanding the minds and perspectives of others.
Explore your emotions, discover hidden tastes, and deepen your understanding of the unfamiliar by observing places and other people.
Chapter 3 introduces records that will add depth to my expanded inner self.
You can discover your own unique perspective and create a dense thought system through reflection records, future diaries, and failure notes.
Furthermore, it helps me discover my potential and future.
Records play an important role in expanding the volume of a person's heart by filling the length and breadth of the inner world.
When the daily records that we think are insignificant are accumulated and accumulated, they become a good indicator of who we are as a person, what we like, and where we want to go in the future.
A world unfolds that we would not have known about if we had not written it down.
The author is sharing the benefits of records with 170,000 record-holders through social media and offline lectures.
In particular, I often get questions from authors about how to start writing and how to see it through to the end.
Each time, the author answers.
“What’s so special about records? It’s okay if you can’t write them every day, and even if they’re poorly written.
Please try writing at least one line.
“That is your own special record.” As the author says, recording is not something grand, but a light habit and hobby that can be started with a single line.
But if you continue with those small habits, eventually big changes will come.
The small records of daily life will accumulate and eventually help you face a better you.
