“Why don’t boxing gloves talk?” is a question children often ask.
Boxing Gloves may seem reserved and blunt, but he is a friend with a warm heart.
When teachers or friends have difficulties, I am the first to step forward and help them.
Imagine dreaming of those boxing gloves. What dreams do you, children, have? Some of you have one dream, some have many, and some of you have constantly changing dreams.
Maybe there are some friends who haven't found their dreams yet.

I only started dreaming of becoming a writer when I became an adult.
When I was young, my dreams kept changing.
When we meet later, I'll tell you what my childhood dream was.
You'll probably be surprised.
We always support children's dreams of becoming anything!

Let's go meet our future selves on the time machine umbrella!
What kind of adult will I become?

It's time for the Glove Elementary School friends to present their homework.
But, it is said that the inventor's dream was to create a time machine.
At first glance, it looks like just an umbrella.
The mischievous twin gloves couldn't just sit by and watch that happen.
The moment I approached stealthily and tried to snatch the umbrella, thunder and lightning rumbled.
The classroom became as dark as night.
The teacher tried pressing the light switch, but the light didn't turn on.
“I’m going to go out and check for a bit, so everyone stay quiet, okay?” While the teacher was away for a moment, the twins pressed the umbrella button.
Then the umbrella opened up and was sucked into a hole in the classroom wall.

Round, round, round, round… The children arrived at the school hallway after passing through the tunnel of time.
But the teacher teaching in the classroom looks exactly like a rubber glove.
Yes, that's right.
The time machine in the glove worked perfectly! The kids, curious about what I'd look like as an adult, started exploring the neighborhood.
With excitement like when you go on a treasure hunt.


Kitchen gloves became a baker as they always wanted to be, and plastic gloves became a doctor.
Wow, the twin gloves have become movie stars! They said they would become twin pirates, and they ended up playing the main characters in a movie called "Twin Pirates of the Caribbean."
But there are still friends I haven't found yet.
There are racing gloves, boxing gloves, and sparring gloves.
What happened to the three friends? Did the boxing gloves become world boxing champions, as they had predicted?

The future can be changed at any time!
You can be anything!

The "Glove Elementary School" series is written and illustrated solely for children by author Yoo Seol-hwa, who has been asking serious questions to both children and adults through her picture books.
This series originated at the request of a child the author met at a lecture hall.
After receiving a request to “make my story into a picture book too!”, he said he developed a desire to capture the lovely images of the children he had met in a picture book.


All the children appearing in this series have the appearance of gloves.
Detective leather gloves, tough rubber gloves, honest boxing gloves, peaceful scrubbing gloves, thoughtful work gloves, cowardly vinyl gloves, active baseball gloves, and even gluttonous kitchen gloves… .
Each child has a different personality and talent, and each glove has a different purpose.
Oh, except for the new transfer student's toe socks.


This story moves beyond Gap Elementary School, which has been the main setting, and extends into the future.
The time machine umbrella created by the inventor's dreamer, Mokjanggap, actually works.
If children go to the future, the first person they want to meet is none other than themselves as adults.
Glove friends are no different.
The glove friends, who have discovered that they have truly come to the future, each set out to find their adult selves.
Fortunately, most of my friends have grown into the adults they wanted to be.


However, the gloves worn by the comedian who dreamed of becoming a comedian and the lace gloves worn by the pianist or fashion designer who dreamed of becoming a fashion designer are slightly different.
Your dreams may have changed as you both grow up, or you may be pursuing hobbies rather than working.
As long as the two friends who have become adults are happy, it doesn't matter, right?


While the Glove Friends are diligently searching for their future selves, there is also a friend who is somehow passive and just gets dragged around by the other friends.
These are boxing gloves.
Friends expect Boxing Gloves to become a world boxing champion, but Boxing Gloves secretly dreams of something else.
You hesitate to show your friends your dream because it is so different from what they expect, and it is not as grandiose as other friends'.


Boxing gloves may seem taciturn and reserved, but they are actually the most affectionate of friends.
Even during that time, whenever my teachers and friends had problems, I was the first to step forward and help them.
Whether others know it or not.
But this time, it's the adult boxing glove who has achieved his own simple but precious dream and saves his glove friends from danger.
Seeing that, the young boxer unconsciously raises his fist.
“That’s really cool!” And then, returning to the present, he proudly shows off his unique talent that he had kept hidden all this time to his friends.


There is nothing more or less wonderful in a child's dream.
You may have had this dream yesterday and that dream today.
A child's dreams should never be judged or denied by worldly standards.
Because that would be judging and denying the infinite potential of children.


Author Yoo Seol-hwa hopes that children will have as many different dreams as there are children around the world.
I hope those dreams will decorate this world beautifully like the stars in the night sky.
So I hope that more diverse possibilities will emerge in this world.
I hope this book, filled with the author's hopes and encouragement, will inspire children to dream more.
