A rumor made by everyone

“Have you heard the rumor?” a splendid golden lion asks surreptitiously from within the red cover.
I don't know what kind of rumor you're talking about, but for some reason it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
The word 'rumor' is somehow alluring, like the intense color red, and it arouses a thrilling curiosity.
It doesn't matter whether the story is true or false.
Rumors are just fun.
The more it passes through many mouths and ears, the more provocative the story becomes.
This book tells the story of the golden lion who is at the forefront of false rumors, the animals who fall for the golden lion's tricks, and the silver lion who is the victim.

The golden lion wants to be king, but is annoyed by the silver lion, who has been nominated for the throne for his good deeds.
So, they make up a false story to tarnish the reputation of the Silver Lion.
At first, the animals did not believe the golden lion's words, but they came to believe him simply because they all knew the same story.
And then the story moves here and there.
The story is passed down by word of mouth and becomes more and more exaggerated.
In the end, the country that fell for the tricks of the golden lion is devastated, and animals lament here and there.

Who, then, can we blame for our nation's ruin? The golden lion may have spun the lie, but it took countless animals to spread the rumor.
The process by which one story becomes a huge rumor makes us think that rumors are not something that can be created by just one person.

The result of an unthinking attitude

Lies will sneak up on me even if I stay still, but I can't find the truth unless I step forward.
Ironically, in our society, it is easier to find evil than good.
So we must constantly think and check to see if there is anything wrong with what is in front of us.
Because when you let your guard down and don't think, the truth can easily be covered up with lies.
It's as if the silver lion, falsely accused, never sought the truth, believing that the misunderstanding would eventually be cleared up.

Among the sins committed knowingly and those committed unknowingly, the former is considered evil, but the latter, which is not considered foolish, is considered foolish.
This foolishness has the power to change the world if you just move it.
There are also some stupid animals in this book.
These are animals that literally translate the words of the golden lion.
Of course, there was only one golden lion that was malicious.
The animals were just worried that the silver lion was so aggressive that they told their friends and family to be careful.
But wouldn't the story have been different if someone had just once thought about whether the rumors about the silver lion were true or not and checked them?

A brilliant book from a one-man publisher!

Chiisai Shobo is a one-person Japanese publishing company founded by Noriko Yasunaga with the idea that, "Just as games and TV cartoons can be enjoyed by everyone, wouldn't picture books with pictures and text be something that everyone can relate to regardless of age, gender, or occupation?"
