Seol Min-seok's Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2
Description
Book Introduction
Only the most important and core content! An explanation that fits perfectly into your head! It couldn't be easier! A lecture to finish the Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Korea's representative 'knowledge curator'! A long-running bestseller that has been loved for 2,000 years and has become a part of our lives! Is there another book that has been reborn into countless works in such diverse forms as Romance of the Three Kingdoms? It's the most famous work in China's 5,000-year history, and has remained a long-standing bestseller for hundreds of years. "Don't discuss life with someone who hasn't read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms at least three times, and don't even dare to discuss life with someone who has read it more than ten times." This is a famous saying that immediately shows how much the Romance of the Three Kingdoms can help us understand and live life. This is because the Romance of the Three Kingdoms talks about and deals with ‘our life itself.’ The Romance of the Three Kingdoms contains all kinds of human relationships. The identities of heroes, which change from time to time depending on their circumstances and self-interests, and the self-image that clashes between justification and practicality in order to achieve worldly hegemony, are surprisingly similar to our current state. It's no coincidence that Romance of the Three Kingdoms always ranks first among countless leaders who have achieved success in life when asked to name their most memorable book or a classic they would definitely recommend. |

Into the book
The homeless man sighed as if he had no idea what was causing his illness.
Zhuge Liang thought for a moment, then took out a fan and smiled brightly as he spoke.
“You said the wind blew the day you first collapsed? It seems like a disease I can cure….”
In his haste, Lu Su didn't even ask what was going on, but grabbed Zhuge Liang's hand and pulled him outside.
“Let’s go.”
When the two men went to find Zhou Yu, Zhou Yu spoke to Zhuge Liang with a heavy expression on his face, as if his chest was blocked.
“Something inside me is churning wildly, and I keep losing consciousness and collapsing.”
Then Zhuge Liang said:
“I’ll write you a prescription.”
Zhuge Liang picked up the paper and brush in front of him and began to write.
“To defeat Cao Cao, we must use fire attacks. We have everything ready, but we are missing the southeast wind.”
--- From "Resonance Magic, Turn the Wind to the North-Northwest"
There's a saying that yesterday's enemy is today's comrade. Isn't that the charm of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms?
Now, Liu Zhang's actions may seem very cowardly and mean from a human perspective, but when viewed tactically, it can be called "controlling barbarians with barbarians."
The meaning of barbarian is to keep barbarians in check.
It is also a common diplomatic strategy used by weak countries to protect themselves by enlisting the help of neighboring countries.
When the elders of Hanzhong invaded, Liu Zhang brought Liu Bei to block the elders, and now that Liu Bei is trying to attack him, he calls in the elders to block Liu Bei.
If we make peace with China and South Korea, we will at least be able to save our lives.
I thought that if Yu-bi came rushing in, he would be beheaded in one stroke.
Since he had repaid kindness with enmity, he thought that even the world's most virtuous generals, Liu Bei, would not spare him.
Liu Zhang also knew very well that there was no such thing as betrayal in Liu Bei's dictionary.
Eventually, he was forced to write a humiliating letter to the elders of Han and Zhong.
This is truly an absurd and shocking situation.
If used well, this strategy can be a great way for a weak country to survive, but the strategy used by Liu Zhang, who failed to keep his word, somehow leaves us with only bitterness.
So, how would the elder feel when he suddenly receives a request for support from Yujang?
--- From "Equipment Legend, War with the Head, Persuasion with the Heart"
In this situation, Zhuge Jin arrived.
He proposed that he marry his daughter to Sun Quan's son.
Guan Yu heard this and laughed for a long time, then said to Zhuge Jin:
“Look here, Master Zhuge Jin.
Go and tell Sun Quan.
Even if you have no shame, you still have a lot of money.
Think about the atrocities you committed against our brother in your own country.
They called my brother and said they would make him their son-in-law, but then tried to assassinate him.
"And you've even kidnapped my sister-in-law, so how dare you make such a proposal to me? Do you think I should marry her off, knowing what you're going to do to my daughter?"
Up to this point, it was a reasonable argument.
But what he said next was so rude and disrespectful that even Guan Yu's generals gasped in surprise.
"How dare you marry a tiger's daughter to a dog's son! If you say such a thing again, I'll have your head cut off, so get out of here!"
Zhuge Jin was so shocked and angry that he hurried to Dongwu.
Sun Quan asked.
“What do you say?”
“I am ashamed to say this, but…….”
When Zhuge Jin hesitated and was unable to continue speaking, Sun Quan urged him on.
“It’s okay, just tell me.”
“Would you give the tiger’s daughter… to the dog’s son…?”
For a moment, Sun Quan's face distorted and he jumped up from his seat.
“So I’m a dog? You’re saying I’m a dog.
If I am a dog, my older brother Sun Ce is a dog, my father Sun Jian is a dog, my mother, my younger sister are all dogs… … .
Have you ever seen such a son of a bitch! I will never forget this humiliation I endured today! I really can't stand it anymore.
“Excuse me, bring me the wooden tablet right now.”
--- From "Guan Yu's slip of the tongue, the mouth is a door that invites trouble, the tongue is a sword that cuts the throat"
I think that Cao Cao, who enjoyed more fame, wealth, and power than anyone else at the time, realized that humans are ultimately weak beings in the face of death.
This passage reminds me of King Solomon from the Old Testament.
He had a vast territory, gold and silver treasures, and over 1,000 wives that his father David had left him.
What more could he possibly want, having enjoyed everything there was to enjoy?
But in the book of Ecclesiastes, which he wrote when he was older, there is a passage like this:
“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”
Life is fleeting.
How can I express this situation with words other than these four letters?
In Buddhism, there is a saying that human life is about coming empty-handed and leaving empty-handed.
What do we truly hope to achieve, what do we pursue so fiercely each day? This passage makes us reflect on our lives once again.
