This book, which takes place 100 years after the special theory of relativity was first published, examines from various perspectives how the theory of relativity has influenced our lives over the past century.
Experts in various fields describe the influence of the theory of relativity on philosophy, science, art, and culture in the first half of the 20th century, transcending our preconceptions that it is simply a scientific theory, in an easy-to-read and engaging way.
This book is divided into two parts. Part 1 briefly outlines the current significance of the theory of relativity and Einstein's life. It then lifts the veil of genius and creativity that surrounds Einstein and the theory of relativity through the historical background leading up to the creation of the theory of relativity and the various people who influenced it.
And, while helping students understand the theory of relativity from a physical perspective, it was structured so that they could think about what the theory of relativity means as a new worldview.
Part 2 examines how scientific discoveries have influenced the entire cultural and artistic landscape of humanity at the time, beginning with philosophy, and extending to art, photography, literature, music, architecture, film, animation, advertising, and even our daily lives, and how that influence continues today.
