Into the book
This book contains the various tastes I discovered while living and traveling in Taipei, a city I have loved for a long time.
From neighborhoods steeped in traditional charm to up-and-coming new spaces, we've curated a selection of must-see Taipei destinations for travelers.
I hope this book will serve as a small guide along your journey, and serve as an opportunity to discover your own 'extremely personal' Taipei.
--- From "Prologue"
Freshly fried croquette-like radish pancakes are made by frying only thinly sliced radish in a thick batter.
It is famous among Koreans as ‘Muhotteok’.
They serve it fresh out of the oven, so it's delicious while it's hot, and it's still delicious when it cools down.
There are so many customers that you will definitely have to wait in line, but don't worry, the food comes out quickly so you won't have to wait long.

--- From "Local Old Restaurant / Vegetable Pancake Restaurant 'Wenzhou Vegetable Pancake (Wenzhou Jieruo Bossi Bingdaren)'"
If you're a fan of stationery, you'll know Tools to Live By, a brand with its headquarters in Taipei.
Created by a couple of designers who wanted to transform Taiwan's desks, this brand has many fans not only in Korea but around the world.
Passing through the store's large doors, a world of all kinds of stationery unfolds, enough to make even the most discerning stationery fanatic's heart race.
It is full of products made in-house and imported from overseas, such as fountain pens, ink, stamps, clips, notebooks, ballpoint pens, scissors, paper knives, and rulers.
(omitted)
--- From "Lifestyle Accessories Shop / Stationery Shop 'Tools to Live By'"
It is famous as the filming location for the music video for the girl group New Jeans' song "How Sweet" and the Taiwanese drama "The Year of the Sheep."
Every sight is unique, from the five buildings surrounding the circular rotary, to the uniquely designed sky bridge connecting the buildings, to the elevated road that crosses the center of the rotary.
The round structure, which I have never seen before, is unfamiliar, but this space, which has an old and lived-in feel, looks similar to an old Korean apartment.
If you walk around every nook and cranny and take pictures, the results will have a local feel and vintage flavor thanks to the atmosphere of the space.
(omitted)
--- From "Hip Place / Photo Spot 'Hwagangjeongtaeksagu (Hwajangjeongjaiseochwi)'"
There is a small live performance hall on the lower floor of the feminist specialty bookstore, Yeoseojeom (page 402).
This place, where famous Taiwanese singers such as singer-songwriter Zheng Yi-nong have visited, is said to have played a big role in the development of Taiwan's indie scene.
There are still a steady stream of performances by indie bands and singers, mostly from Thursday to Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM.
