Restore the spiritual identity of Christians!
“The economy is tough, do I really have to do this?”

“Is it an obligation that must be given?”
“Can I donate to a charity other than the church for people in need?”
The necessity, meaning, method, and even the heart of tithing
A book that answers every question you've ever asked with the Bible!
Professor Kim Ji-chan, the best Old Testament scholar in Korea
A masterpiece of commentary on the Ten Commandments, packed with deep insight and meticulous research!
Today's church is mired in numerous misunderstandings and controversies surrounding offerings and tithing.
Some people dismiss tithing as a legal obligation, others dismiss it as an inconvenient truth, and no one talks about tithing as a confession and practice of faith.
This book starts right at that point.
Tithing is both a gospel and a law in that it is an opportunity to offer joyfully to God in both the Old and New Testaments, and it is also a law in that it is something that should be given to God as something that belongs to Him from the beginning.
Moreover, tithing is not just a matter of money, but a matter of faith and obedience to God.

Into the book
Meanwhile, the Korean peninsula has been waging a frame war between those who abolish the tithe system and those who maintain the tithe system, and the hearts of believers and the church ecosystem have been devastated.
So what should we do? Stop the frame war and return to the Bible.
--- p.41
Tithing is a natural response of gratitude from those who have experienced in their lives that God is with them.
The vow, “Of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to you” (Genesis 28:22), is a natural response of gratitude that comes to anyone who experiences the God of Immanuel.
Moreover, Jacob does not say that the tithe he gave was a tenth of what he had earned through his own efforts.
He confesses that it comes from ‘everything God has given.’
Those who believe that 'God has given us everything' have no choice but to express this belief through tithing.
--- p.96
The tithe has been an offering since Genesis, confessing that everything humans possess is given by Jehovah.
When Abraham returned from defeating the kings, he offered “a tenth of everything” to the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, through Melchizedek, the priest.
Abraham gave a tenth of everything he owned to Jehovah, representing everything he owned, to make it visible.
--- p.124
Therefore, I call the Leviticus tithe text, although very brief, an abridged version of the spirit of tithing.
From this perspective, the Leviticus tithe text can be said to be the gospel of tithing, as it invites us to a holy way of life.
At the same time, if we consider the tithe as something that should be given as a matter of course because it is a sacred thing belonging to God, then it can be seen as the law of the tithe.
--- p.126
Jesus died and was resurrected so that his people could become children of God.
And, having inherited the abundance of God the Father, He is now building a new holy temple with Himself as the head and His children as the members of His body, and is expanding the kingdom of God.
Therefore, like Nehemiah, we too must do our best to restore the church, revive worship, educate the next generation, and evangelize the nations.
--- p.247
The purpose of the tithe text is not simply to address the question of how much to give.
The day of Jehovah's judgment is approaching, and this is Jehovah's answer to the question of how to prepare for that day.
So, if you give your tithe to God, you can return to your Heavenly Father.
Therefore, tithing is not simply a matter of money, but a matter of our relationship with God.
In other words, it is not simply a question of amount, but a question of how to avoid God's judgment.
It is also not simply an economic issue, but a question of how to return to God.
--- p.283
As we can see in 2 Corinthians, God did not say that He “loves” the tithe.
He said, “He loves those who give cheerfully.”
What God wants is for us to be willing givers.
--- p.425
The church leadership, including pastors, church council, and deacons, must teach the 'law of tithing', but above all, they must proclaim God's grace and love more strongly so that people can experience the gospel of tithing.
If tithing is not experienced as the gospel, it will remain a law and will prevent the saints from feeling true joy in their hearts.
--- p.433
Pastors should not be afraid to teach the Bible about tithing and offerings.
We must continue to preach with good conscience and conviction about the financial burden that God's people must bear.
In addition, the church must create specific programs to teach the next generation about tithing, offerings, and stewardship.
The mission of teaching the law of tithing and making people experience the gospel of tithing is no longer confined to pastors and seminarians.
This mission belongs to parents at home and to senior believers in the church.
Perhaps the legacy of faith can be passed on more persuasively through senior believers in the family and church.
So what should we do? Stop the frame war and return to the Bible.

Publisher's Review
Misconceptions about tithing
- Tithing was a provision of the Old Testament law and was abolished in the New Testament.
- In the New Testament, neither tithing nor offerings are mentioned.
There is only a record of salvation.
- Since there are no Levites in the New Testament, there is no need to give tithes to the church. You can give them to missionary groups or NGOs that practice the spirit of Jesus, which is justice, mercy, and faith.
- In the Old Testament, there are tithe for the holidays and tithe for charity, so tithe can be used for family meals or charity expenses.
The author, Professor Kim Ji-chan, felt saddened by the distorted views and misinformation about tithing that spread indiscriminately through YouTube and social media in today's secularized modern society.
Above all, the reality that there are almost no theses or books on tithing made me realize the need for an in-depth study of all the tithing texts in the Bible.
With this awareness of the problem and a sense of mission as a theologian, I wrote this book to correctly interpret and biblically guide the tithe.
Why tithe now?
In an age where religious standards for giving and giving have collapsed, this book guides us beyond tithing as a mere institution for church finances, to a journey of obedience that trusts in God's sovereignty and responds to His grace.
This book contains commentary on the tithe text throughout the Bible, encompassing the Old and New Testaments, theological insights and practical applications, and clear answers to questions facing modern Christians.
Therefore, for those who are contemplating what it means to live a life dedicated to God, we will present the values and lifestyle that tithing aims for.
Five Points to Correct Misconceptions About Tithing
√ It should be understood as a war of obedience, not a war of frames.
√It is a voluntary confession of faith in the grace received from God.
√It is not a simple rule of giving, but an expression of a life belonging to God.
√ It is a practice of maintaining spiritual identity and participating in the kingdom of God in a secularized age.
√It is a holy spiritual habit that reveals the life of the people of the Kingdom of God.
Today, the people who need this book the most
- Ordinary believers who are confused about offerings and tithing
- A theology student who wants to know the true meaning of tithing as described in the Bible.
Leaders and pastors looking for a biblical guide to use in discipleship training, small group, and offering education.
