Into the book
Now is the time to pray with all our earnestness and fervor.
Can't you dream of recovery without praying?

Domestic and international political, economic, and social news is filled with gloomy stories rather than hopeful ones.
Internationally, the Ukraine-Russia war is still ongoing, and climate disasters such as heat waves, heavy snow, extreme droughts and floods are further adding to public fears.
The anxiety that dominates modern society manifests itself in many forms: the fear of failure stemming from fierce competition, the worry that we won't be able to meet our needs, and the fear of falling behind those who are ahead.
This anxiety is crushing hope and weakening society as a whole, with a particularly profound impact on younger generations.

The most important thing we must do in these times is to fast and pray.
Fasting and prayer are acts of worship in which we offer our hearts completely to God, our unchanging hope.
The only way to heal a society consumed by anxiety and fear is to find true hope in Jesus Christ.
It may seem like we are now facing a time similar to Joseph's seven years of famine, but God will sustain us just as He protected Joseph and his family.
Just as Daniel's fasting and prayer brought restoration to a devastated nation, I hope this book will help Christians in Korea and around the world overcome economic and spiritual famine through fasting and prayer, and help stagnant churches and souls recover.
--- From the "Prologue"

Fasting is an act that brings us closer to God and purifies our soul.
Fasting is a process of emptying and purifying ourselves of sinful habits steeped in the world, distorted desires and loves with entangled priorities, and indulgent appetites.
Through fasting, we invite God's presence into our lives and create space and time to enjoy God's goodness.
In this sense, fasting is an act of worshiping God.
Because worship is to long for and desire only God.

--- p.20

Fasting reveals what is in our hearts.
Fasting is a tool for overcoming temptations and trials, but it is also a test in itself.
When a person fasts and his heart is revealed to be not in self-satisfaction and the world, but in God, Satan is startled and retreats.
Most people live according to their greed and lust, so there is no room for Satan to cling to them.
There is no room for Satan in the center of the heart, so he disappears.

--- p.32

Daniel did not use 'out-of-body language'.
“I am different from them.
He didn't say, "They sinned, but I don't care."
Rather, “we have sinned against God.
We rebelled and disobeyed.
“We have committed evil,” he confessed.
Daniel prayed according to the 'law of identification', repenting specifically for his sins.
This is the prayer that God answers, the prayer that restores desolation.

--- p.47

The basic principle when we say we walk with God is that we must walk in the same direction as God.
Walking with God means walking in the direction God wants, not in the direction I want.
To do that, I must decide my own goals and pursue my own purpose, not just move in the direction I want.
Walking with God requires a willingness to deny oneself and lay down one's own plans.
Only when this is presupposed can we walk in the same direction as God.

--- p.52~53

Daniel clearly believed that God would protect him even in the lion's den and was thankful in advance.
Daniel's gratitude was not only gratitude for answered prayers, but also 'absolute gratitude' for God being God.
Absolute gratitude doesn't matter whether God answers your prayers or not.
It doesn't matter whether God answered positively or negatively.
Because it is gratitude that comes from the belief that God is always right and that God is always good.

--- p.58

The gratitude that is especially needed in times of adversity and tribulation is absolute gratitude.
This gratitude comes from faith in God, the good God, the good Father God.
Daniel prayed to God three times a day and gave thanks.
Daniel gave thanks to God in all circumstances.
He prayed three times a day and offered prayers of thanksgiving.
Gratitude is an important feature and principle of Daniel's prayer.
He prayed and thanked God even when he was in danger of being thrown into the lion's den.
Because I believed in God's sovereignty and providence, and was convinced that all circumstances in my life were within God's good plan.
The fifth principle of Daniel's powerful prayer is an attitude of gratitude.

--- p.59

In fact, one of the reasons we fast is not to show God how pious we are.
God already knows what we are like at our core.
Fasting is not something special that we have to do in addition to our prayers to get an answer from God.
There is nothing in the gospel that makes God love us more or pay more attention to us.
He already loved us completely on the cross.
Daniel's fasting and prayer were simply an expression of his desperation and his reliance on God.
--- p.60

Have you been hindered in your efforts to live by God's Word and obey His will? Do you find yourself wondering, "I'm trying to live according to God's will, but why isn't it working?" It's because the devil hates it and fears you.
If the more you try to obey, the more you get stuck, you need to realize this.
'Ah, this is something that truly pleases God.
'It's such an important matter that the devil is interfering with it.' At this time, we should not be discouraged if the answer to our prayers is delayed or not answered.
That's what the devil wants.
That's when we need to move forward to the place of prayer.
--- p.65

Publisher's Review
When the world is in turmoil, society is in turmoil, and souls are in need, Christians must turn even more to prayer.
We must fast and pray and desperately cling to God until the end.
Fasting is a form of self-denial, emptying us of physical attachments and desires, drawing us closer to God, and purifying our souls. Fasting is an act of faith that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Fasting is an expression of the earnestness and devotion that comes from a deep relationship with God.
This book guides us to realize the grace and benefits of fasting and prayer, the secrets of fasting and prayer, and to practice the three-day fasting and prayer in practice, just like Daniel, who risked his life and prayed earnestly to God for his country and people.
I highly recommend this to those who wish to experience the history, answers, and breakthroughs of prayer through the Daniel 21-day fasting prayer, setting a New Year's resolution and prayer resolution.
