A story that no one has ever told honestly!

Would you like to hear a bitter story that shows the inner workings of the church?

This book is for those who feel uneasy even when attending a church known for its health, and who suffer from an inexplicable sense of frustration even when listening to a sermon from a great pastor.
Why do young people keep disappearing from churches? Why is the number of people who claim to believe in God but don't attend church constantly increasing? Perhaps these people were "obedient" churchgoers who, during their time at church, attended dozens of revival meetings, retreats, and Bible studies without fail.
Because of the countless church services he had to do because he couldn't refuse, he must have been a 'tired' church member who couldn't fully enjoy the joy during worship.
Yet, deep in their hearts, there is love and faith in God.
It's just that the church and the pastor are uncomfortable.

Just looking at the table of contents of this book, any believer will find at least one question they can relate to.
Even though they go to church faithfully on the outside, they still harbor some unresolved religious issues in their hearts.
"What if I'm not happy even though I go to church? How much more do I have to love God before it's enough? When will I ever be saved? Should I blindly obey authority? Star pastors, are they always right? Doesn't devotion to the church lead to better employment?..." This book candidly addresses questions we'd be reluctant to ask in church, questions we'd be hesitant to ask our own pastors.
Above all, the bitter story is approached in a humorous way through the setting of questions and answers between a 'younger brother' who is burdened by church and a close 'older brother' who is a pastor.
But it's not all bitter.
My brother's warm and heartfelt advice still reminds us that the church is our hope.

Into the book
Those who were pointed at as sinners, those who were thought to be cursed by God, and those who had to live as outcasts from the village, instead became Jesus' friends.
Jesus came to those who thought they were abandoned and restored them, calling them “my people.”

--- p.24

Being saved means that I have accepted that Jesus came as the conqueror (ruler) of the land I was standing on.
I am raising a flag that says that the ruler of this city where I am the lord is Jesus.

--- p.33

God has never given you or me an imperfect salvation.
Because He gave us perfection, we are becoming perfect as we remain on that path, in that life, and by that truth.
When we acknowledge both the nobility of the Holy Spirit and our own lowliness that is not, we become complete.

--- p.45

I think faith is asking questions that this world doesn't ask.
It questions the steadfast beliefs of this world.
That is why every moment of our religious life can ultimately be said to be a ‘question.’
Let's change the question.
Not “Am I a saved person?” but “Am I living as a saved person?”

--- p.71

If the language you use becomes your own specialness, superiority, or boasting based on something you own or possess, then you are not yet a born-again Christian.
If the language you use contains sorrow and earnestness from God and based on God's will, then you are a born-again Christian.

--- p.113

We are all sinners who want to be kings.
We must be a community where those in authority, those who follow authority, and those who resist authority all ask themselves what their heart's motivations are before the Word.
If it is something good and not against your conscience, you must practice obedience, and if it is something good and not against your conscience, you must have the courage to resist.

--- p.126

The church should be a place that goes beyond acknowledging and praising a person for what he or she has accomplished, and acknowledges and praises that person for who he or she is.
Ultimately, we must understand people as those who thirst for 'recognition and respect'.
--- p.135

Holiness is not something that a 'converted me' creates, but rather a moment of God that comes to me when I am not converted.

--- p.163

It's a joy to have success that others can't have, even without faith.
But when you step down from that place of success, when you become an unknown and useless being again, the only thing that can make you happy is the 'ability' that can only be found in faith.

--- p.174

Pastors need compensation, recognition, and people to treat them kindly.
He is a foolish sheep before Jesus, the Shepherd, who prays that his own desire to do well will benefit someone.

--- p.185

Christians must live as 'good citizens' and 'good citizens'.
As I live as a citizen of this land, I must ask myself how I can live as a citizen of the kingdom of God.
Faith and reality are not opposing concepts, but rather ‘different beliefs’ that we use to live in reality.

--- p.224

The reason why small things, small people, and small tasks do not end up as 'small' to us is because we believe in God.
Because before the God we believe in, big and small are completely different from our perception, and we cannot know what kind of butterfly effect the thing we thought was small will have in history.
Because we believe in God!
--- p.249

Publisher's Review
Those who live their faith with a sense of skepticism in a healthy church,
Those who cannot explain in their own words what they believe, no matter how long they have been attending church.
Those who are like a hamster on a wheel, repeating confusion and guilt,
A must-read for those who love (or want to love) the church!

The church spoken of in this book is not the church of one person who has become a temple, nor is it the universal church created by God.
It refers to a church that is dependent on one person, the pastor, and a church that is an organization where power in the form of people and money exists.
It is a church of false faith that seeks to grow the church by taking the lives of its members hostage.
Many people confess that even though they participate in many church programs, such as discipleship training, missionary training, and spiritual training, when they return to real life, the assurance and joy of salvation disappear.
Looking at the title, “I’ve never heard of such a story before,” you might think that this book talks about something completely new and different from what the church has been talking about, but what the author wanted to tell us is a story that we already know but have not easily brought up.

The point is to break away from the pastor's authoritarianism and church growth-ism.
This is a story we should have faced honestly a long time ago.
This book calmly tells the bitter story that has been avoided for so long.
This is not to criticize megachurches.
If our religious life is like this at this point, at the tail end of the "mega-church movement," then something is definitely wrong. Therefore, I extend a hand to share our concerns and to walk again toward the true truth.
If there are those who are tired of a life of faith where joy has disappeared at some point, I hope that reading this book will bring them renewed hope.

“I confess that the most amazing news in faith is the Incarnation.
The most humbling of the highest, the most glorious becoming humble, the Creator God becoming a baby, the most decisive event of God sending his Son to this earth, the pivotal event of the kingdom of God where high mountains come down and fill valleys, and the righteous Jesus coming to seek out sinners like me and finding those sinners—the fact that these events happened to me is a blessing I cannot exchange for anything.
I hope you never forget that this faith is a blessing!”
