Students who continue studying and students who give up studying.
In fact, school teachers say the same thing.
"Children give up too easily, so the classroom is filled with only the top and bottom." Why did these children give up before they even started studying? It's because their mentality was broken.
Before I even started, I gave up and said I couldn't do it.
But it ain't over till it's over.
Don't cower after failing once; get up and start again.
If you keep your mentality in check, you can continue studying.
If you maintain that attitude, your grades will eventually go up.
It is important to keep going without stopping.
Studying is inherently difficult.
Still, you have to keep studying.
Want to level up on your own? Start now, mentally!

Into the book
As I said before, studying is not something you do for fun.
It's something that every student has to do.
Just because you don't want to do something doesn't mean you can avoid it.
It's not an option, it's a necessity.
So, from now on, I hope you'll put aside the frustrating thoughts like, "Why isn't studying fun for me? Maybe studying isn't for me."
Instead, 'Studying is not fun for anyone.
Studying is something that every student has to do, so let's think about the purpose of studying, persevere, and work hard.
Instead of worrying about whether or not to study, it would be better to think about how to do well and make up your mind.
If you look at studying from this perspective, you will be able to approach it more realistically.

--- p.46-47 From “Studying is not fun in the first place”

The reason students fail to practice study methods is not because they don't know how to study.
Even if you put that study method into practice, you are not sure whether it will really help you and whether you can really make that study method a habit.
In fact, no matter what study method you use, the essence is the same.
If you do even one thing consistently, it will definitely help improve your grades.
So, it is important to first decide on a study method and put it into practice.
At this time, it is most important to make your study method your own habit.
--- p.56-57 from “The 21-Day Rule”

The Ministry of Education also stated that, as the existing standards for essay and descriptive questions in internal assessments were minimal, it will establish a basis for evaluating internal assessments based solely on essay and descriptive questions in the future.
This means that the high school entrance exams that high school freshmen will take starting in 2025 will no longer be based on simple multiple choice questions.
Accordingly, it is necessary to practice to become accustomed to essay and descriptive tests starting from middle school.

--- p.81 From “Changes in the internal exam to focus on descriptive and argumentative questions”

It is difficult to say whether there is a pro or con between choosing a specialized or autonomous high school and a general high school, but it is certain that choosing one of the two will change the direction of your studies during middle school.
If your goal is to advance to a regular high school, you can prepare for high school by completing the three years of middle school without too much burden, as your grades in middle school are not that important, and by just getting an average of one year ahead of your peers.
If you are aiming for a specialized or autonomous high school, you must thoroughly prepare for your grades during your three years of middle school, and you also need to get ahead of students preparing for regular high schools in terms of advanced studies.
So, when you're in middle school, you should have frequent, in-depth conversations with your parents and teachers about choosing a high school, and after you've made a decision, you should create a separate study plan and then put it into action.
--- p.87-99 From “Strengthening Convergence Capabilities and Concerns About High School Selection”

One of the things that cannot be left out when studying Korean in middle school is the use of ‘Korean magazines’ and ‘newspapers.’
Apart from general reading or problem solving, something that is definitely good to read during middle school is Korean language magazines and newspapers.
In the high school Korean language mock exam, topics that have been hot topics in recent years are sometimes tested as actual questions, and passages covering a variety of specialized knowledge appear, so it is helpful to have a sufficient amount of current affairs knowledge.
And when writing reports, discussions, or presentations in performance evaluations, it is clear that it is advantageous to be well-versed in current affairs.

--- p.107 From “Use of Korean Magazines and Newspapers”

We've all heard that middle school students should study advanced math first, but not many students really understand why.
If you don't know exactly why you are doing good deeds, your will to do good deeds will diminish and your earnestness will also lack.
That's why we need to be clear about the reason.
--- p.117 From “Why You Should Do ‘High School Prerequisites’ in Middle School”

High school science will also change as the revised 2022 curriculum is applied to students who will be high school freshmen in 2025.
First of all, 'Integrated Science 1, 2', a common subject learned in the first year, has become the scope of the College Scholastic Ability Test's science exploration regardless of whether it is science or humanities.
In the future, more questions that combine various fields will be presented in the school exam and college entrance exam.
Additionally, since the content of middle school science is linked to higher-level science, it will certainly be helpful to study science in depth during middle school to enhance scientific thinking skills and experience deep scientific thinking by considering a single problem from multiple perspectives.
--- p.143-145 From “Secondary Science Study Methods for Integrated Science”

There is something you absolutely must know.
The fact is that your own study method may be wrong.
Rather than getting stuck in a single study method out of habit, I try to learn from a variety of sources, including online communities for test takers, friends, and educational books. If I come across a study method that seems helpful, I try to modify it or apply it myself. This approach, with a flexible approach, ultimately contributes to my growth and development.
--- p.165 From “Don’t be stubborn, be flexible”

Striving with the mindset of being just one step ahead is the attitude of pursuing excellence, not perfection.
This helps us realize that we don't have to be perfect to get good grades.
It is not easy to prepare perfectly within the given short test period.
And there's no need to strive for perfection.
I am confident that if you study consistently with the goal of excellence and staying one step ahead of others, you will definitely achieve good results.

--- p.179-180 From “Strive for Excellence, Not Perfection”

The 12 years of elementary, middle, and high school are like a marathon.
Everything is just a process until you reach the final destination of college admissions.
At what point in the process does it matter who is faster or slower?
So, even when times get tough, I hope you believe in the power of the word "yet," and find the courage and comfort to get back up again, rather than being discouraged.
--- p.185 From “The Comfort of the Word ‘Yet’”

First of all, I acknowledge that there are positive aspects to comparison.
Comparison can be negative if it makes you feel frustrated and loses your motivation to study, but I used it in the opposite way.
If other medical school classmates were studying in a different way than me, I would reflect on that and adjust my own study methods. If other friends were studying in a similar way, I would use it as an opportunity to gain confidence that my study method was correct.
Comparison also served as a driving force for study.
When I see a friend who is ahead of me, no matter how hard studying is or how much I want to give up, I get back up and work hard with the goal of catching up to that friend.
It would have been difficult if I had thought of it as just a fight by myself.

--- p.200 From “A Negative View of Comparison”

What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't study to the point where your strengths are shaken while trying to fill in your weaknesses.
You should continue to maintain your strengths without losing sight of them, and invest in improving your weaknesses by reducing break time, reducing meal times, or using other time.
Otherwise, you may end up in a vicious cycle where you try to compensate for your weaknesses but end up missing out on what you're truly good at.

Publisher's Review
“Studying is originally not fun.
“Nevertheless, we must continue.”
“Never give up.
“If you just take care of your mentality, your grades will eventually go up.”

There is so much information about study methods that it could be said to be an era of study method overload.
However, no matter how good a study method you know, it is of no use if you don't have the will to put it into practice.
The strength that allows you to persevere in your studies even when things are difficult or you feel like giving up is none other than a strong mentality.
There are no longer any students who cannot study because they do not know how to study or because they do not have study tools.
The bigger problem is not knowing why you should study or what motivates you to study, or giving up or becoming frustrated when things get a little difficult or tiring.
Especially during middle and high school, students are completely immersed in a competitive college entrance exam environment, and in this competition, a strong mentality is paramount for students to maintain their own pace and run without wavering.

After the midterm exams for first year high school students are divided into two groups.
Students who continue studying and students who give up studying.
In fact, school teachers say the same thing.
"Children give up too easily, so the classroom is filled with only the top and bottom." Why did these children give up before they even started studying? It's because their mentality was broken.
