Publisher's Review
Faith, the theme of a Christian's life
It is solved in the unique way of author Kim Min-seok!
“I, who have lived with the faith from birth, now
Not a single verse of praise, not a single prayer,
“The state of being dazed during worship, etc. has continued for two years.”
Seong-gyeong, whose faith is no longer what it used to be, goes to see a church sister for religious counseling.
However, at the meeting place where they arrived, Seong-gyeong's ex-boyfriend, 'Yona', was also there.
Jonah tells the flustered Seong-gyeong that he will help him restore his faith, and Seong-gyeong ends up following Jonah…
It is not easy to recover faith that has been lost.
Quite a few people are unable to overcome this crisis and end up leaving the church.
However, author Kim Min-seok does not avoid the painful reality.
We face head-on the problems we have been ignoring and failing to address.
Therefore, it is important to examine what problems the characters in the work went through and how they restored their faith.
Through this, we will look back on our own faith and that of those around us, and receive help in overcoming our crisis of faith.
From 'Strange Wall' to 'Faith Lived Through the Body'
Seeking direction for the church.
At the root of the crisis of faith experienced by the characters is a 'strange wall'.
The strange wall depicted in this work is shaped like Jesus, and many people are stuck to it.
This wall gives you only the advice, comfort, and motivation you need.
In front of the comfortable walls, the words of Jesus in the Gospel are ignored.
Ultimately, those who rely on strange walls are trapped in a self-satisfied religious life.
Therefore, the real name of this wall is myself, that is, 'narcissism'.
Individuals and churches that are immersed in 'narcissism' lose the essence of the gospel and hurt others.
“It’s a really strange wall.
People are hugging this wall, saying, 'Yes, I haven't looked at Jesus in a while!'
Yet, they do not want to listen to the words of Jesus in the Gospel.
As this empty cycle repeats, the wall grows larger and larger…
Only then did I realize.
That this religion cannot be changed.
“No one can break this disguised and deified narcissism.”
“That’s not faith.
I wanted to say that, but…
I kept my mouth shut.
Because Jonah wasn't asking for the definition of correct faith.
If there is such a thing as true faith, it is time for me to demonstrate it.
“Actions speak louder than words.”
The author's insights now move toward a solution. Through faithful research and study, he explores the message of Christianity and the faith of the early church, presenting the results convincingly.
This book tells us that what we need to recover is a faith that is concretely demonstrated in our daily lives, without “hating the body.”
And through the work, we can see that this is not a burden that one alone bears, but that the community carries it together.
Living the gospel together.
This is a topic that the church has wrestled with since its birth, and it is the church's original calling.
