Find My Room
Find My Room
Description
Book Introduction
A journey to find my room with the slow and weak Munsan.
The room that confines me in my heart, a new 'room of my own' for my growth.

What kind of place is "my room"? It's the space that holds me in comfort and comfort, whether I'm sick, happy, or sad.
But for some, it could be a room of seclusion, a room that confines them, like the foolish Mr. Mi in the book, unable to escape the swamp of the past.
For others, it may be a space to endure the waiting time for a wonderful transformation, like the caterpillar's room in a book.
What does "My Room" mean to you right now? This book is a journey to find "My Room" with a distant companion, a "slow and weak" person like ourselves.
Munsan, who is afraid to leave his room, continues to grow wonderfully as he goes on a journey to find a new room of his own.
We all want to get the look we want, the results we want in life, as quickly as possible.
So I always try to hurry and go quickly.
If I fail or get frustrated in the process, I lock myself in a room somewhere in my mind and struggle to get out.
The room that Munsan encounters in the book and the story told by the room's owner are the rooms of growing pains that we are experiencing now.
If there is a story about a room owner that I am particularly drawn to, it would be a point of growth that I must overcome now.
It is time to willingly open the door of the room that is currently confining me and try to find a new room.

Ozo, an artist who teaches English to students and draws pictures, once met a boy with Down syndrome.
The image of the boy always looking out the window with a happy expression reminded me of the distant mountains.
Although the distant mountains are somewhat lacking in reality, they are also like ourselves, always pursuing the happiness that lies beyond.
My room, which holds me most comfortably in the world, may not be a ‘space’ at all.
It could be the world I imagine, the people I meet.
My room is also my heart, where I have shed all my masks, and my heart is open to the world.
If I face the world with my true self and an open mind, I can find a 'room of my own' where I can stay most comfortably, anywhere in the world.
When I am most open, I can fill my heart most richly.
Now, it's time for us all to embark on a 'Find My Room' journey with Munsan.

What does the room that is holding me now look like?
What kind of place is the 'my room' that I want to find again?

Into the book
Everyone has memories they don't want to forget.
But we can't stay in the past forever.
Because if you stay where you are, you won't be able to move forward.
But that doesn't mean we can go back to the past.
And today, standing there, will also become the past.
If I look at myself standing here today in the distant future, won't I regret it?
--- p.44

There's no need to be greedy for everything that looks good.
Even if everything looks good, as time passes, there are things that are not good.
You can't tell what's good by looking at it.
Sweet compliments give me confidence, but they are often not sincere.
Someone's bitter advice can later become medicine that makes me stronger.
--- p.70

When you are in the darkness, the bright light becomes more precious and beautiful.
Look around you now.
If the darkness where I can't see anything scares me,
I firmly believe that someday the light will shine.
Even if light is covered by darkness, just as an oyster covers a pearl.
--- p.101

Each person has their own pace.
It's the same no matter what you do.
Some people can climb stairs quickly, while others cannot.
If you rush to climb the stairs too quickly, you will tire easily and have a harder time.
You can only get to the end if you climb one step at a time at your own pace.
--- p.109

I think that anywhere can be my room, as long as I can fill it with stars as beautiful as the infinite universe, without cramping myself with useless thoughts.

Publisher's Review
A room for encountering the self that is withdrawn and wants to hide
Egg room, ant room, temptation room, chain room, pearl room, top room… .

Munsan was born with a small and weak body, so his mother, who felt infinitely sorry for him and had to stay locked up in his room, prepares to send him out into the world.
Dressing him in a nice suit with a bow tie and a hat, I hope that no one in the world will ignore or harm him as he looks at the wonderful sight of Mt. Munsan.

A distant mountain begins its journey around the world in search of a new room of its own.
Part I, 'Thank You for Everything, My Room', looks back on the things that have kept Munsan locked in his room and prevented him from going out into the world.
The room of eggs where baby birds break out of their eggs with thousands of knocks and come out into the world, the room where all of Mr. Mi-ryun's things are piled up, the room of chains where he finds the key to the shackles on his ankles and runs away, the room of ants where each of them lives with a reason for existence although they are very small, the room of taste and the room of temptation where he encounters sweet whispers, and the room of thoughts where worries follow one another, he prepares to say goodbye to his past self.

Part II, 'Munsan-i Goes Out to the Sea', shows Munsan-i's slow but wonderful growth.
As he passes through the room above the sea where he encounters a violent storm but soon becomes accustomed to the storm, the room under the sea in full color that he bravely jumps into and looks at, and the room of pearls that shine brightly in the pitch black darkness while trapped in a hard shell, Munsan feels curious about a new world.
Then, as he passes through the top room where he is told to go at his own pace, the larvae's room where he spends his time waiting to transform into a magnificent adult, the mirror room where he faces his own reflection, the mask room where he reveals his true self, and the trophy room where he thinks about honor, Munsan encounters a side of himself he had not known before.
And another window, moving forward without hesitation towards a new world.

All the rooms that Munsan encounters in the book are rooms that we encounter in our hearts.
These are aspects of oneself that one is afraid of and wants to hide.
The room where everything is piled up symbolizes foolishness, the room of eggs symbolizes the pain of growing up, the room of chains symbolizes the confusion when faced with a difficult problem, the room of masks symbolizes the self that one wants to hide, the room of trophies symbolizes the self that one wants to package, and the room of thoughts symbolizes a mind full of useless worries.
I hope that along with Munsan's 'Find My Room' adventure, I will encounter the rooms in my heart one by one, and that this will be an opportunity to find 'my room' and 'my heart' in a comfortable and open state that can fill my heart most abundantly.
