Real Study for the Future Generation's Real Leaders
The first study method book by Kang Won-guk, Korea's top writing and speaking expert.

Author Kang Won-guk's new work, "Kang Won-guk's Real Study: 30 Study Stories for Teenagers," has been published.
Kang Won-guk served as a speech secretary for former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun, and was also a speech writer who polished the writings and speeches of business leaders.
After writing various books, he has also been active in lectures and broadcasting.

Unlike his previous works, where he used speaking and writing as tools to reach adult readers, this book is the first to tell a story about studying to young readers.
Even in 2023, our youth are still suffering under the shackles of college entrance exam hell and the obsession with grades.
Kangwon-guk poses an honest question to a society that offers them only a few choices.
The question is, 'What is real study?'
The author calls out to our teenagers who are running forward like racehorses, saying that 'real study' is 'an exciting and sweet journey to find a part of myself that I don't even know'.

To begin your journey, Kangwon National University recommends reading 30 study stories over the course of a month.
The book is filled with the author's experience and the common study methods of leaders he observed, along with a study mindset and the knowledge and skills necessary for studying.
As you read through the stories one by one, not only teenagers who are overwhelmed by their studies, but also adults who are about to start something new can explore who they are, what kind of studies they need, and how to go about it.
If you keep following along like that, you will soon find yourself with the courage to try any challenge.

Publisher's Review
A story about "real study" that I really want to tell young people.
I met a study that nurtured me, and the second act of my life began.

Kang Won-guk, a former speech secretary who wrote and polished the writings and speeches of former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun, and an author who has written books on writing and speaking, has published "Kang Won-guk's Real Study: 30 Study Stories for Teenagers."
This is my first book on the subject of study, but there is one more thing that is new.
The fact that it is a book written specifically for young readers.
Why did the author, who said that studying was not fun not only during his school days but also during his time at university and work, feel compelled to talk about studying to young people?

Author Kang Won-guk says that the first act of his life was the period of nearly 20 years when he lived as a speechwriter, receiving recognition from presidents and business leaders.
However, the author recalls this period as a time when he “tried to do what he was told to do in order to be recognized” and “did his best to read the minds and hearts of those who gave him orders.”
That time was not very enjoyable because I studied to polish other people's words and use other people's words.

However, when a book he wrote by chance became a bestseller, Kang Won-guk began to “speak my mind and write my words.”
Living as "Writer Kang Won-guk" rather than "someone's speech secretary" led him to a completely different life. He began a second chapter by making himself known to the public through diverse activities like TV and radio programs and lectures.
At its foundation is an encounter with true study.
The author says that the thing he has done most in his life since his school days is studying.
However, he says that it was only after he encountered a study that would help him grow and that would lead to his future growth that he felt like he had truly begun to study.
In addition, observing the leaders' studies for a long time and understanding their know-how was also helpful.
Based on that enlightenment and discovery, his studies were enriched and even his attitude and direction in life changed.

Kang Won-guk tries to overcome the regret of not having discovered this fun earlier and at the same time, unfold his philosophy of "study that expands sharing," and tells readers what true study is.
Above all, he stated that he wrote this book to convey the importance, joy, and virtue of learning itself to young people who are fighting a war every moment on the front lines of college entrance exams.

Studying for everyone who is about to start a new life
After reading these 30 stories, you will meet a changed person.

The author has compressed his own thoughts, conclusions, and specific study methods into 30 stories and divided them into a four-week course.
This guides readers to become familiar with the study gradually over the course of a month.
The chapters are written in a length that is not burdensome to read, one per day, and at the end of each week, a 'Weekly Note' is inserted, where you can find questions to help you get to know yourself better.

As “study begins with self-love,” the first week is set aside as a period to prepare oneself for studying.
Think about what motivates you to study, and explore what you like and what you are good at in the process.
The power of observation required for that exploration can be developed through nothing other than 'looking around' at various things.
Through this new perspective, readers can develop strong mental muscles of self-esteem, self-efficacy, and affection.
In addition, the author shares his secret method, saying, “Subtlety and perseverance are important qualities to cultivate during school days,” and encourages readers to create their own small secrets to increase their endurance.

Once you have the will to study, you will move on to the second week, which will build up the basic stamina and muscles for studying.
“Don’t be fooled by your will any longer,” he says, emphasizing that overcoming your will is a habit.
This is because once you create a routine of your own rituals and form a habit, you will naturally become absorbed in your studies.
The author also clearly states the purpose of study.
The real purpose of studying is not to beat others, but to develop myself.
Competition inevitably breeds unhappiness, and a competitive atmosphere prevents the creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills needed in the new era.

In the third week, we move into the stage of developing learning skills that are essential for any learning, such as speaking and writing, memory and questioning skills, thinking skills, and vocabulary.
Here, the author introduces specific methods that he practices in real life.
We introduce five steps to developing summary skills, which have become essential in an age overflowing with knowledge and information, and practical methods for improving memory, such as information selection, visualization, and categorization, which remain crucial even in the AI era.

Kang Won-guk advises that true learning occurs throughout life, and that growth should not be limited to the academic realm.
So in the fourth and final week, the scope of study expands to life.
The author's wish is that each individual will become a 'good person' rather than a 'bad person' or a 'good person', and that our society will be filled with good people rather than smart people.
The first step toward becoming a successful person is to reflect on one's personality, speech, and speaking habits, which can even determine one's fate.
Furthermore, based on his experience working with leading leaders, the author defines a leader as “a person who communicates with members through words and writing,” and introduces common thinking and organizing tools he discovered from them.
As you read this book, you will sense Kang Won-guk's honest and sincere attitude toward learning, and a small spark of study will be ignited in a corner of your heart.

Share, take out, do it for life
In the age of artificial intelligence, it's time to consider "real" study.

So why does Kang Won-guk want to talk about studying to teenagers, rather than any other generation? Studying without considering the nature of studying itself is always doomed to failure.
Many teenagers try various study tips they come across on social media and YouTube, but they end up struggling in the process of blindly following them and easily conclude that studying isn't for them.
Most people become adults by becoming more and more distant from their studies.
The reality is that during our school years, when we study the most intensively in our lives, it is difficult to consider the real concerns, such as what studying is, what the purpose of studying is, and what kind of person we ultimately want to become as a result.
But that is why our youth need to think about learning and come to their own conclusions even more.
Because they have to live in an unpredictable future, and their school years are the optimal time to prepare new attitudes, knowledge, and skills for that future.

The author's real study can be summarized in three points.
It is a study that expands sharing, a study that takes it outward, a study that is carried out throughout one's life.
Global corporations that are shaking up the world's political, economic, and social landscape continue to develop artificial intelligence, and its technological prowess has brought anxiety to the very existence of humans.
The author believes that academic background no longer defines an individual, and that a better future does not exist in a country where individuals compete against each other.
Therefore, he says that we need to shift the paradigm to studying in which we develop each person's individuality and grow together by sharing knowledge and wisdom with each other.
Traditional learning methods that involve simply outputting what is learned cannot compete with artificial intelligence, but creativity is still a human skill, so I suggest that we cultivate writing and speaking skills that embody our own creativity as a learning method.
Furthermore, the author's voice is embedded throughout the book, emphasizing that lifelong learning, transcending specific locations and times, is essential to becoming a leader who takes the lead, rather than a follower who is swept along by the tectonic shifts of the times.

Therefore, 『Kangwon-guk's Real Study』 is highly recommended to young people who want to lay a solid foundation for studying, young people who want to ignite their motivation to study with a new mindset, young people who want to examine their own study methods, and young people who want to prepare for the future.
I also believe that anyone who feels fear and anxiety about taking on a new challenge will find the courage and encouragement to begin through this book.
In the very first chapter of the book, Kang Won-guk tells the reader:
“We offer infinite possibilities to those who want to start studying.”
