Book Introduction
Pastor Jo Jeong-min's clear response to the honest religious concerns of The Message Lab's 100,000 subscribers.
- 80 Most Curious Questions About Faith
- 80 Answers from Pastor Jo Jeong-min, a Faith Mentor of This Era

Faith, prayer, suffering, discernment, family, love, daily life, etc.
To you who feel frustrated between faith and reality

During the "Beautiful Companionship" service at Basic Church, which aims to spread the word to non-believers, a live Q&A session is held after the sermon to discuss concerns about religious life.
This book is a compilation of carefully selected 80 questions and answers.
The book divides the realistic concerns that Christians walking the path of faith in a noisy world face between faith and reality into seven topics: faith/prayer, religious life, weakness, suffering, discernment, family/relationships, and daily life. It provides clear answers in language that Christians can empathize with, based on the Word.

The reality is that we believe in Jesus, but we are still afraid, and we love God, but we are always anxious.
And when we struggle with relationship issues, it can be difficult to discern what it means to live according to God's will.
The author says that my faith is as much as I have given up.
He also says that suffering is one of the ways God awakens us when we live our lives thinking that what is not ours is ours.
This book helps us let go of the things we hold onto in a world that constantly disrupts our peace and focus on God.
It tells us the secret to how Christians can overcome the world and guides us to a life filled with joy by walking with God like the Apostle Paul.

Into the book
Because I acknowledge God as sovereign, I believe that the timetable is up to God.
And if I had met God in my 20s or 30s, I would have made the same mistakes that many pastors make today.
I can't tell you how fortunate I am to have become a pastor after making enough mistakes.
If my wife had insisted on going to church, I would never have gone.
Instead of pressuring me, my wife held my feet and prayed for me as I returned from drinking.
I'm asking you to let me go to church instead of going to the bar with these feet.
I was unconscious while my wife was praying, but God heard her prayer.
So don't be impatient.
Don't worry.
God's timetable is unerring, so be bold in your faith.
---From "Is there a time for each person to meet God?"

If you are using KakaoTalk or thinking about something else while worshipping online, that is not worship.
Likewise, while worshipping on-site, thinking about something else and doing something else is not worship.
Whether in church, online, in prison, or in a dungeon, if you are in the Spirit, if you are in Jesus, if you are in the truth, then worship is possible.
---From "Is online worship also worship?"

We do not live a life of faith by going deep into the mountains and meditating like monks, or by entering a monastery and meditating deeply like monks.
We live our lives of faith while caring for our families and neighbors in this noisy world.
Even when we're humiliated at work, when our teenage children are harassing us, when we're dealing with the aftermath of a family member's accident, when we're hurt by a neighbor who's giving us a hard time, we find peace in it all.
This is the power of Christianity.
For this peace the Lord came.
---From "I often feel irritated, angry, and anxious"

The absence of suffering is the deepest suffering and the most pitiful state.
It needs to rain, be windy, and have waves to create a good environment to live in.
So I say never pray for no suffering.
There is amazing adaptability in our lives.
I believe that there is a total amount of suffering that God gives to humans.
I believe that life depends not on circumstances but on perspective.
Depending on how I interpret it, life can be worth living or it can feel like I'm going to die.
---From "How should we interpret a person who lives well without suffering?"

If my dream comes true, someone will be unhappy.
But when a dream given by God comes true, I am happy and others are happy too.
The value of the Bible lies in life.
The Bible does not speak in terms of money.
We don't talk about power.
I'm not talking about popularity.
The only value the Bible speaks of is life.
And life and love are synonymous.
Love is life.
---From "What is the difference between my dream and God's dream?"

The climax of Christian love is ‘loving one’s enemies.’
But can you love your enemies? We can't do it on our own, but if Jesus comes into us, we can.
To love is to be the standard, not me, but you.
The ability to lose is love.
To love to the end, you have to decide what you have to give up, what you have to let go of, and what losses you are willing to accept.
---From “How is Christian love different?”

Don't expect to do anything special when you walk with God.
Don't expect to be treated differently from others.
Remember that it was people who showed extraordinary zeal who crucified Jesus.
Let us remember that there are people who boast of extraordinary faith who have walked a path different from God's will.
I hope that you and I can simply be content with our lives as saved people walking with God.
That is the essence of faith and the beauty of faith.
