The sanctification of everyday life
Description
Book Introduction
Holy Fire is not a set formula
This is a living, breathing story that is happening in my daily life right now.
Come into each of our lives
A story about God working in detail
Many people misunderstand the process of 'sanctification' as becoming a religious person by separating from ordinary daily life.
We believe that the Christian sanctification process is all carried out according to the same framework, and we even force that framework on others.
Maybe that's why.
We are surrounded by advice that says that if we just do 'this', we can grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.
But there is no magic key to the path to holiness.
No matter how profound theologically rich the advice may be, it cannot encompass all the various areas of our individual lives.
God understands the uniqueness of each of our lives and dynamically transforms us to meet the practical challenges of our lives.
The Holy Fire is the story of me and God that happens in our daily lives.
David Polison presents us with various aspects of sanctification, including his own personal experience, while also not missing the underlying theological insights.
As the author emphasizes, becoming holy is not something that is separated from everyday life.
It's about living your life more wisely, becoming a better friend, and becoming a better family member.
I hope that through this book, we can cast off the heavy burden of sanctification and walk the journey of sanctification while looking to God at work in our daily lives.

Into the book
Why did John say the world has too many stories to contain? How can there be more life stories than there are sands on a beach? Because when you look closely, each individual's life story is unique from start to finish.
Each person's life has different circumstances and circumstances.
Every single moment in a person's life is a unique moment that will never be repeated in their lifetime.
God is the one who takes into account all these differences and uniqueness.
He doesn't miss a single word we say without thinking, the number of hairs on our heads, or a single teardrop we shed.
Jesus works in each of our lives, considering all these things.
---p.15
Becoming more holy does not mean becoming detached from reality, becoming religious, or detaching from the ordinary life in pursuit of something higher.
In a word, it means becoming a wiser person.
That is, you will be able to manage your economic life, sexual life, and work life more wisely.
It's also about becoming a better friend and a better family member.
Our words become more insightful, more thoughtful, more pleasing to others, and at the same time more realistic.
It is about honestly praying to God and finding out who God is amidst the limitations and needs of human beings that we feel in reality.
---p.18
It wasn't these theological doctrines that played a decisive role in my wife and I's transformation on that particularly cold winter day.
Nancy was transformed by the vivid description of God personally caring for her.
God came to Nancy and covered her with grace, protecting her like the apple of His eye.
Also, what helped me directly that day was the parable of the eagle.
A vivid metaphor of the Lord descending like an eagle, flapping his wings over my head, picking me up like a young eagle and carrying me on his wings.
---p.40
The clearest sign that you are becoming sanctified is that you begin to think less about yourself.
When you stop worrying about 'how well am I doing?', you actually do better.
The more you forget yourself and worry less about yourself, the better you will understand yourself.
As one who has been forgiven of sin, as one who has been freed from suffering, as one who is being sanctified, your happiness is closely linked to the happiness of us all.
