Publisher's Review
"Eating should be a source of hope, not fear." _ Han Sang-wook, President of the Korean Cancer Association
A Daily Home Cooking Guide for Cancer Patients Who Don't Know What to Eat

From cancer diagnosis to recovery, the strength to overcome all the fearful and difficult processes begins with 'food'.
Cancer patients need to carefully consider their nutrition and diet to support their bodies, maintain their immunity, and overcome side effects.
However, with so much uncertain information flooding the world, the reality is that questions like, “What should I eat?” and “They say on YouTube not to eat this, is it really okay?” are pouring in.

In addition, when starting chemotherapy, various symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by chemotherapy make eating more difficult and discouraged.
Even after being cured, finding reliable information about "safe foods" feels like homework because I worry about the cancer returning.

But eating is not just about filling up on nutrients, it is about filling up my body and mind.
《Cancer Healing Healthy Diet》 is a daily home cooking guide created by therapeutic diet experts from Samsung Seoul Hospital and Samsung Welstory for cancer patients and their families who are at a loss as to what to eat.
To help cancer patients make eating a source of hope rather than fear, we've included scientifically-based guidelines on how to eat and healthy recipes.

Cancer treatment diet experts developed to suit the taste of Koreans
A total of 109 recommended menu items and a table setting by type

Eating when you are physically and mentally exhausted from treatment is not as easy as you think.
So, this book aims to reduce the difficulties of eating by providing recommended menus for each symptom.
We provide 39 recipes tailored to the various types of experiences you may have during cancer treatment, such as when you need to manage your weight gain or loss, when you experience digestive issues like diarrhea or constipation, when you have a dry or bitter mouth that makes it difficult to swallow, or when you feel nauseated or vomiting and have an aversion to food.
We also introduce how to make versatile broths, seasonings, and dressings, and provide 31 healthy soup and side dish recipes based on these, making cooking less difficult.

Above all, the greatest strength of this book is the expertise of the diet and recipes developed in three stages.
First, based on the know-how accumulated while educating actual cancer patients at the Samsung Seoul Hospital Cancer Education Center, a systematic dietary guide for each cancer symptom was compiled.
Next, Samsung Welstory's nutrition and cooking experts analyzed customer preference data accumulated through many years of group meal and hospital meal service to develop recipes that anyone can enjoy and follow easily.
Afterwards, it was reviewed by clinical nutrition experts from the nutrition team at Samsung Seoul Hospital, and verified that only the most necessary information was selected and contained efficiently.
These recipes, developed over three stages, will help you prepare healthy, everyday home-cooked meals that suit the Korean palate, not only during the treatment process but also after returning to your daily life.

Tips for making healthy choices in everyday life, such as eating out, company dinners, and convenience store snacks.
Includes the diets that patients ate during treatment.

As the number of cancer diagnoses has increased, the number of people returning to their daily lives after treatment has also increased.
One of the growing concerns after returning to work or home is eating out.
It would be nice to always be able to eat healthy at home, but that's often not possible at work or in social situations.
Accordingly, this book provides practical tips for choosing healthy food in a given environment, including how to choose a menu when eating out, how to cook using a microwave, and how to choose food at a convenience store.

Another thing this book contains is the life-changing diet that cancer patients ate during their treatment.
The super simple beef rib stew I ate while receiving chemotherapy after being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, the phytochemical juice I started eating after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, the porridge made with various ingredients I ate after colon cancer surgery, the tomato and egg stir-fry I ate while receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplant after being diagnosed with stage 4 malignant lymphoma…
In this way, the book shares the experience of food, which fully embodies the healing process, and delivers a message of hope that if you receive treatment well and eat well, you can get better.
