In the Serengeti plains, where every day is precarious, lions band together to overcome crises.
The story of friends who fill in each other's shortcomings and become stronger together is touching.

“I am weak, but we are strong!”
A story that makes you rethink the meaning of the word 'together'

Lion Wanini belonged to the Madiba pride before becoming a wanderer.
Madiba, Wanini's grandmother and leader, is a lioness with extraordinary bravery and excellent hunting skills, feared by all the animals of the plains.
But Madiba is so cold-hearted that he chases away the weaker lions to maintain a strong pride.
Banished from the Madiba pride for being useless, Wanini meets friends in the grasslands, but they are far from the brave lionesses of the Madiba pride.

Asante is a grown detective, but he limps after being shot, and Zambo is a smart detective, but he is a wandering young detective who has lost his siblings.
Malaika, a childhood friend, was also kicked out of the group after being badly injured.
Wanini and his friends often starved because they lacked hunting skills, and they were often chased because they were bad at fighting.
Wanini and his friends live on the grassland, bickering but trusting and relying on each other.
This book makes you ponder the meaning of the word "together" by showing Madiba, who makes cool-headed judgments and acts for the group, and Wanini, who tries to overcome difficulties by pooling their limited strength.

Publisher's Review
Author Lee Hyeon, who makes us dream of a new world
Back with the lions of the African savanna

Author Lee Hyeon, who has expanded the scope of Korean children's literature with new stories such as "Jjajangmyeon is Blowing!", "Long Live Jangsu!", and "Robot's Star," has published a new full-length children's story, "Blue Lion Wanini."
This is a fairy tale about the adventures of Wanini, a lion who was driven out of his pride for being useless and wanders the grasslands. It realistically and movingly depicts his adventures in the vast grasslands of Africa.
An exciting story set in an unfamiliar space will inspire readers to yearn for a new world.

“A lion should be a lion, and a crocodile should be a crocodile.”
An adventure story set in the African savannah

Author Lee Hyeon has written a variety of stories, from 『Jjajangmyeon is Blowing!』, which humorously yet sharply depicts the reality of children, to the science fiction fairy tale 『Robot's Star』, to the young adult novel 『1945, Cheorwon』, which deals with the historical space after liberation.
The new work, “Blue Lion Wanini,” realistically depicts the adventures of a lion living in the Serengeti plains of Africa.
The main character, Wanini, is a one-year-old lion cub who is driven out from the pride due to his small size and poor hunting skills.
Wanini, who has become a wanderer, is sometimes ignored by monkeys and birds, and sometimes runs away, chased by cheetahs.
Sometimes he narrowly escapes being shot by a poacher, and sometimes he leaves the rainless grasslands to seek out a place where rain clouds always linger, only to fail.

Wanini's every day is a series of crises and adventures.
The author realistically portrays Wanini's journey through crises and adventures to become a proper lioness.
In 『Blue Lion Wanini』, not only lions but also warthogs, hyenas, wildebeests, buffaloes, baboons, and hippos appear, each with their own unique way of living.
The author vividly portrays the lives of various animals, and even captures the harmonious appearance of the Serengeti plains where they live together.
"Blue Lion Wanini," which captures the unfamiliar and novel landscape of the African savanna, will instill in readers a yearning for a new world.

“There is nothing useless in the world!”
A fairy tale that reminds us of the preciousness of all things in existence.

Wanini, cast out from the group and left to wander, loses hope for survival.
The animals in the grassland watching Wanini also think that Wanini will soon die.
But Wanini survives with the help of things he once considered insignificant.
Unskilled at hunting, the crocodile overcomes its hunger by chewing on grass and trees, and fills its stomach with eggs and insects that it had previously ignored.
When Wanini wanders alone through the dangerous grasslands, the wandering detective Jambo, whom he had underestimated, readily reaches out and becomes his friend.
When he is in a life-threatening situation, Asante, a limping lion, risks his life to help him.
Through the story of Wanini, who was kicked out of the group for being useless, receiving a lot of help from someone he once looked down on, the author delivers a weighty message that nothing in the world is useless and that everything has value and meaning.

· Author's Note

“This book was written with young readers in mind.
Without their support, the small, weak lioness Wanini would never have become a proper leader and roared in the black land.
Thank you to all the young readers who became Wanini's friends!
