Into the book
This book cannot say, “Portugal is the best among the magnificent ruins and natural environments of other countries.”
But I want to let you know this.
“It’s attractive.
“The city, the people, even the time spent in Portugal becomes so fond of it.”
--- From "Prologue"
A pousada is a state-run hotel that was renovated from the castles or monasteries of former lords or the mansions of the wealthy.
With 35 locations across Portugal, poujadas are priced similarly to five-star hotels, but their unique cultural experiences ensure they are always fully booked, so it's best to book months in advance.
The castle's classic interior has been preserved while the facilities have been renovated to provide a modern experience, and there are also hotels decorated like resorts, perfect for relaxation.
--- From "MISSION 5: Portugal's Special Hotel Pousada"
Lisbon is an understatement to say it is the capital of Portugal.
There are no fancy or sophisticated buildings.
People open the doors of cafes on the barren Seven Hills, drink biscuits, clean sardines and joke around.
I get excited when I go to this ordinary city.
It is because there is an inexplicable attraction called atmosphere, as if it were a vague feeling of utopia.
--- From "Lisbon, an Eternal Dream Towards the Sea"
Just as Paris comes to mind in France and Prague in the Czech Republic when it comes to cities of romance, Porto comes to mind in Portugal.
The Douro River flows under the Dom Luis I Bridge, and a cruise ship passes over it.
The buildings of the Ribeira district, a World Heritage Site, are painted in faded pastel colors, creating a vintage atmosphere.
As the grapes ripen in the mountain region, the winery of Villa de Nova Gaia fills the empty oak barrels.
The bells of the Clérigos Tower, the highest point in the city, ring and birds soar above the orange roofs that resemble the sunset.
If only you were here, this would be the perfect Porto.
--- From "Porto, the Eternal Port at the Entrance of the Atlantic"
It is the oldest city and religious capital of Portugal.
The name Braga, an ancient Roman city, is derived from the name of the city at the time, Bracara Augusta.
From the 6th century onwards, it served as the capital of Catholicism in Southern Europe, ruled by an archbishop, a high-ranking Catholic priest.
There are over 70 cathedrals in Braga alone, and among them, the magnificent and beautiful Bom Jesus do Mont is a famous pilgrimage site.
--- From "Braga, the Continuing Tradition of a Religious City"
As soon as I get off at Coimbra station, I get tangled up with students.
The cheerfulness that youth brings is the face of this city.
In the morning, visit the university and witness their passion. In the afternoon, listen to the fresh laughter of freshmen at a café. In the evening, enjoy the Coimbra Fado performed by students from the University of Coimbra.
But I want to let you know this.

Publisher's Review
Mission in Portugal
Everything You Must Do in Portugal
Portugal, which still retains traces of the Age of Exploration, is a travel destination with a unique sensibility.
In particular, the pilgrimage to the holy site of Fatima, which attracts many pilgrims, and the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, which is listed as a World Heritage Site, and the monasteries of Alcobaça and Batalha, which are splendid and mysterious religious buildings, attract attention.
Another great way to enjoy the Portuguese sensibility is to feel sorrow and comfort while listening to the traditional music of fado, which began to be sung in memory of those who went on voyages during the Age of Exploration and never returned.
When it comes to travel, not just sightseeing, food is something you can't miss.
Introducing representative Portuguese food.
Portugal, with its high rice consumption, is full of foods that suit our taste buds.
Knowing the details of coffee, wine, and even Portuguese beer, cerveza, to go with your food will make your trip more enjoyable.
Enjoy Portugal
