Publisher's Review
Author's Note

It is difficult for anyone to fully understand their own emotions.
It is even more difficult to express those feelings in words.
However, I think it is very important to look straight at your feelings and understand them properly.
We are releasing a new book with the hope that children will be able to understand and express the various emotions that are difficult to express in words, using familiar colors.
I hope that the various emotions and colors that fill a child's day will enrich their inner self.

What color is my mood right now?

We live our lives tossed by waves of emotions that come and go countless times every day.
Recognizing and expressing those emotions is never easy, even for adults.
This will be especially true for children who lack experience and vocabulary.
It may be natural for children to burst into tears when asked, “What’s wrong with you?” or to consistently respond with, “I don’t know!” or to act rudely.

Author Choi Sook-hee's new work speaks affectionately to such children.
“What color are you feeling right now?”
And it shows children familiar everyday moments and the emotions that swell in those moments in various colors.
A dazzling white when you first open your eyes in the morning, an exciting yellow when you leave the house, a shy lime green when you have to give a presentation in front of your friends, an exciting orange when you receive a compliment, a vibrant red when you fight with a friend… … .
All those emotions converge again into black, the color of night that ends the day, containing all the colors.
This black is also the color of the infinite possibilities of the inner universe, which deepens and broadens as the countless emotions that surge within a child's heart become more profound.

What kind of feeling will bloom like a flower tomorrow?

It is said that there are as many as 430 Korean words that express emotions.
This means that there are just as many types of emotions that we feel.
However, there are not many words among them that are used in everyday life.
‘Happy’, ‘sad’, ‘angry’, ‘excited’, ‘fun’, ‘surprised’, ‘depressed’, ‘happy’, ‘thankful’, ‘upset’, ‘proud’… … .
It would be difficult for anyone to immediately think of more than 20 or 30.

But emotions are so diverse and abstract that it's difficult to truly recognize them until we name them.
Not only children, but also adults often fail to properly recognize the emotions stirring within them and try to ignore them, or they are easily caught up in their emotions and swayed here and there.
They say the best way to get rid of these feelings is to properly notice them and express them.

But recognizing and expressing your emotions also takes practice.
This is especially true for children who struggle with self-expression.
Author Choi Sook-hee, who is also an adult who struggles with self-expression, suggests that such children try to express their emotions through color.
Color is a great material for intuitively expressing emotions, and it is also something that is familiar to children.
Furthermore, it tells me that every emotion that passes through me, whether positive or negative, is a precious color that fills my inner self.
The more diverse and rich the colors that fill our inner self, the more dazzling our tomorrow will be.
