Pack your bags
Description
Book Introduction
A travel essay that made even top entertainers like Yoo Jae-suk and Kang Ho-dong laugh.
Feeling like going somewhere? Pack your bags!
A good book to take with you on vacation
"Packing" is, above all, a fun book.
The charm of this book is its cheerfulness, which has been highly praised by Korea's top entertainers, including Yoo Jae-suk, Kang Ho-dong, and Park Myung-soo.
Because it is full of unique and interesting situations I have experienced while traveling around the world.
The episode where he plays a game of wits with a Nepalese monk over a lottery ticket ("Milk Becomes God 1") or the episode where he gets his snacks stolen from his room by a baboon ("Villain of Safari") are funny enough to make anyone burst out laughing.
PD Kim Young-hee's cheerful and outspoken personality makes any place he visit bustling and full of fun.
With the addition of illustrations drawn by PD Kim Young-hee herself, readers can become immersed in his travel stories.
This is a delightful book that is perfect to take with you on a trip.
“Packing” shows us “sideways” (“There are many sideways paths in life”).
In the world, there are side streets, side alleys that lead to local spaces rather than tourist destinations, and new paths that we can pioneer.
If you lose your hotel key, you can sleep in the middle of the sandy beach.
Because it is an open road with “the star-filled sky of the Atacama Desert” (“A Gift Brought by Difficulty”).
There we encounter a new landscape and a new us within it.
It is no coincidence that he returned from his travels and presented some major programs.
This is because the unfamiliar daily life and the fortunate extraordinary that she encountered while traveling gave PD Kim Young-hee the strength to recharge herself and creative inspiration.

Into the book
I lay down on a piece of cloth in the middle of a sandy field with an open sky.
I try to close my eyes, but I can't fall asleep.
And it was getting colder and colder.
Even in the hottest desert, the nights are cold.
I try to endure the cold by curling up, but I've already reached my limit.
The moment I gave up, an amazing sight unfolded.
Starlight, sparkling like jewels, poured down like snowflakes.
Oh my, is there such a beautiful night sky? Even though I slept outside, I was rewarded with the star-filled sky of the Atacama Desert.
--- From "The Gifts Brought by Difficulties"
As soon as I opened the door, I doubted my eyes.
Meanwhile, a thief broke in.
The veranda window was open, and trunks, backpacks, and all sorts of luggage were strewn about, open.
No matter how much I looked, the valuables were still there.
After looking closely, I realized that, oh, the only thing missing was food.
I get it.
The thief was none other than Bibi.
I forgot to lock the window, so opening it would have been easier for these villainous baboons than chewing gum.
--- From "The Villain of Safari"
The British humor, which tends to be more reversal-like in serious moments, stems from the softness of this thought.
Does leisure in life lead to leisure in thought? Does leisure in thought lead to leisure in life? Yes.
What I most envied in England was the leisurely way they lived their lives, never losing their sense of humor.
'What in this world is there that can't be laughed at?'
--- From "The Most Envious Thing in England"
After completing departure procedures, I searched the airport duty-free shops thoroughly.
What the heck? There was no Panama hat.
When I asked at the information desk, I was told that there was no place that sold it.
Oh, I should have bought it yesterday.
Now that I'm leaving Panama, I'll never be able to buy this cool straw hat again.
I should have bought it yesterday.
If you've decided to do it, then do it.
Now or Never! It's either now or never.
--- From "Now or Never"
Actions do not necessarily have to have a reason.
Just eating, just exercising, and just going on a trip are all worth trying.
Even while traveling, it's worth trying just resting, just walking, and just playing around.
The idea that the bigger and more important something is, the more justification it needs is just a concept created by the world.
It's something you just do for no reason, something you wouldn't dare to do without a certain amount of courage, but sometimes you need to break away from the path the world has laid out for you.
You deserve it.

A journey that leads to everyday life
The courage to break away from the path the world has set for you
“You deserve it”
Traveling is about escaping from everyday life and entering a new world.
So, PD Kim Young-hee says that the meaning of travel is “the process of breaking down the stereotypes I have” (“Travel 4”).
The Dead Sea taught him that “there are many things you can do only when you empty your mind and throw yourself into it” (“Things You Can Do When You Empty Your Mind”), and the Himalayas gave him the courage to say, “Anyway, if you put your mind to it, you can do it” (“How to Bathe at 4,300m Above Sea Level”).
PD Kim Young-hee says.
We have the 'right' to change ourselves and forge a new path.
I hope everyone packs their bags and sets off on their journey right now.
Because that is the path to finding our true selves and leading our lives in a better direction.
