Book Introduction
Oasis, the band that sings of eternity
1994~1996, Oasis' record of continuous hot days

Contrary to experts' predictions that the rapid growth of computer games would lead to a craze for games rather than music, Oasis was at the center of an era when music was important and being in a band was desirable.
This book chronicles the early days of Oasis, following them on tours of the UK, Europe, and the US from their debut through their legendary Knebworth gig in 1996, documenting the most exciting days of their career.

The author, who appeared as an interviewee in the documentary film [Supersonic] about Oasis released in 2016, reveals the hidden story of Oasis in this book from a more personal and private perspective than the film.
The lives of the members of Oasis, especially the Gallagher brothers, were interviewed with their families, management and staff at the time, record labels, and friends, providing an in-depth, multi-faceted look into Oasis's heyday.
Additionally, the limited edition includes previously unpublished photos by Oasis' representative photographer, Gilles Furmanowski, allowing you to vividly experience Oasis from that era.

Into the book
“I don’t understand why you do that.
At that time, we were confident in the future of Oasis.
But confidence alone wasn't enough.
I had to work my butt off to make my convictions become reality.
Practicing for two hours on Sunday afternoons while doing other things wasn't enough.
Once you start a band, you have to decide whether you want to give it your all or just do it as a hobby.
We decided to give it our all.”
--- p.233

“They said our music was too Manchester-esque.
So, 'of course.'
'We are not Turks or Israelis, we are from Manchester,' he countered.
And then I said, “That’s it,” and came out with the tape.”
--- p.279

“There are a lot of songs that seem like they were just made to kill time.
“We will only make great songs.”
--- p.343

“People often stop proving their abilities at some point.
“As long as I am here, Oasis will never have that happen.”
--- p.427

“The reason our articles are plastered all over the newspapers is because they are newsworthy.
We are proud.
I'm honest, serious about music, and I write the best songs.
So, of course we would be concerned.”
--- p.431

“I would go crazy if I read an article that claimed 'Oasis is Noel's band'.
Oasis is nobody's band.
“If even one person is missing, it cannot exist.” --- p.486

“If Oasis disappears and a thousand new bands form in the next five years, then we’ve done our job.”
--- p.512

“Music should be the focus, but the topic of conversation is more about who is more popular.
But everyone knows.
“That our music is the best.”
--- p.521

"no.
The vocalist is not nervous.
“If you’re nervous, you shouldn’t do vocals.”
--- p.556

“Fame must always follow me.
If you let your fame get the better of you, you'll lose sight of your goals.
The reason I'm in a band is to share our music with people.
That's all.
I don't care about anything else.
What matters is the music.
It's simple.
But people think they know everything about me just by reading newspaper articles.
Without knowing anything.
There's no way I knew.
You've never talked to me before.
“That’s all I read in the newspaper.”
--- p.596

Publisher's Review
Some very personal things we talk about when we talk about Oasis

When talking about Oasis, the things that always come up together - Manchester, the working class, football, the Gallagher brothers - all of these things started from their childhood.
This book helps us understand the Gallagher brothers and Oasis by including the history of Manchester, its working-class background, and its family environment in the first chapter.
You will learn about the hidden side and story behind Oasis's rebellious attitude toward the existing order and atmosphere, and its honesty in revealing itself.

What stories lie behind the music of Oasis, who healed wounds and shook the world through music? This vivid and immersive account captures a more intimate and unfiltered story than is commonly known.
Through this book, you can freely transcend the flow of time as if through a time warp and encounter the youth and adventures of Oasis at its most brilliant.
For those who knew the oasis of that time, it will bring back memories, and for those who only saw it in records and were unable to relate to it, it will allow them to feel the uniqueness of the oasis at that time.

Lyrics and melodies that sing of freedom
And the audience goes crazy

On August 10 and 11, 1996, the Knebworth Theatre held a capacity of 250,000 people over two days, but a whopping 1.75 million people were unable to secure tickets.
This book explores the history of Oasis, revealing how the Manchester indie band rose from the UK to become one of the world's best in just three years.

Oasis' surprisingly honest approach, which deviated from the norm by more than a point, was liberating.
Perhaps their seemingly reckless and unstoppable youth was shaped by music.
In an age where opportunities to express freedom were scarce, Oasis' performances provided that opportunity.
The lyrics that sing of freedom and the melody that exudes freedom made the audience feel free and passionate.
Through this book, you can recall the exciting roller coaster-like days of Oasis, like opening an album, and relive their shining times at any time.
Even though it's over, there are things that aren't over.
Music sometimes makes you remember things you've forgotten, or takes you back to your old self.
Oasis' music will always be there, forever in our memories.
