Science Communicator Orbit tells us
The backstories of scientific geniuses

EBS's flagship lecture program [My Second Textbook] Season 2 is back in book form.
Science communicator Orbit takes on the role of daily lecturer for the 'Science' section of the four subjects, and explains the science textbooks that adults encounter again in an easier and more fun way than anyone else.
The main character of this book is a ‘scientist.’
From the iconic achievements of 21 scientists to their personal stories and little-known anecdotes, the story is vividly told through Orbit's witty banter.
It covers not only scientists who are regulars in science textbooks, such as Galileo Galilei and Thomas Edison, but also role models in orbit, such as Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman, as well as scientists who are not often covered in textbooks.
Everyone knows that Newton discovered the properties of light and wrote the Principia, but it is less well known that he was also a master of the mint and a keen workaholic who was fascinated by alchemy. This book also contains the hidden stories of the famous scientist.

The orbit unfolds with suspense, as if it were a science communicator from the era in which scientists lived, depicting the fierce competition between scientists and the scientific story that developed within it.
Two or three scientists appear in each class and show off their unique chemistry.
The fascinating narratives of how scientists began their scientific journey, what frustrations and realizations they experienced, and what kept them from giving up in the end, will naturally draw you into the joy of science.

Publisher's Review
The orbit gathered together scientists who were cherished.
The world's most competitive science textbook!

Orbit, Korea's leading science communicator, runs wherever science is.
Because our daily lives are all made up of science.
He is always busy breaking the stereotype that 'science is difficult' and making science fun for everyone.

In the EBS educational program “My Second Textbook” Season 2 - Science Edition, Orbit returned as a lecturer.
If Season 1 dealt with scientific theories centered around curious questions, the main characters of Season 2 are scientists themselves.
The textbooks we learned in school focused on scientific formulas and problem solving, and the lives of the scientists who actually created those theories were neglected.
But the orbit raises this question:

“If there were no scientists, would today’s scientific theories exist?”

How about a special science textbook that tells scientific stories centered around the lives of scientists?
Because scientific theories are so deeply connected that they cannot be separated from the lives of scientists.
This book is not a simple biography or theoretical commentary.
Rather than arranging the lectures chronologically, the track meticulously arranges the scientists' stories to ensure the reader's greatest enjoyment and immersion.
It brings together scientists from different eras and backgrounds to show how their discoveries interlock, interact, and change history.
The chemistry between scientists literally comes to life.

The message that Orbit wants to convey to readers is not limited to simply imparting knowledge.
In the passion that has dedicated a lifetime to science, the courage to challenge established beliefs in pursuit of truth, and the tenacity that has changed the world, we discover the true meaning of science and exploration.
Scientists, seen through the lens of the orbit, come across as human beings who have walked a path of obsession, failure, and sometimes loneliness, rather than as the great figures of textbooks.

A path that took the path of a scientist, with Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman as role models.
Now, through this book, he asks the reader:
“Which scientist would be your role model?”
