One day, when the weather was unusually cold, Lee Tae-seok prayed at the cathedral.
At that moment, the morning sunlight came in through the window.
At that moment, I remembered my childhood days, when I would play the zither under the sun every afternoon.
Is God still waiting for him?
When I thought of you watching me from the side, far from your calling, tears flowed without me knowing.

He was shocked to the point of feeling as if his whole body had been shocked by the stench coming from the shacks and the leprosy patients who were barely clothed.
Although he had even done anatomy training while attending medical school, the sight of 50 men, women, and children lying on the dirt floor, waiting for death was so gruesome that he could not bear to look at it.
Detective Lee Tae-seok covered his mouth with his hand and drove back the way he had come.
Tears flowed from my eyes without stopping.
I kept running without knowing where I was going and ended up sitting down next to a bush.

And finally, 『Father Lee Tae-seok』, which vividly depicts the 48 years of life of Father Lee Tae-seok, was published by Kim Young-sa.
This book is a commemorative book for the 10th anniversary of the death of Father Lee Tae-seok, published in collaboration with the Sudan Children's Scholarship Association.
The Sudan Children's Scholarship Foundation, which Father Lee Tae-seok worked with during his lifetime, supports poor youth in Africa in honor of his will.
This book, completed with the generous support of the Salesian Society of Korea, where Father Lee Tae-seok was a member, is an 'official biography' approved for publication by the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul.
Author Lee Chung-ryeol has opened new horizons for Korean biographical literature and has dedicated himself to informing the public of the trajectories and zeitgeist of figures who have left significant marks on Korean cultural and social history, such as Jeon Hyeong-pil of Gansong and Ah, Cardinal Kim Su-hwan.
This time, he faithfully restored the devoted life and spirituality of Father Lee Tae-seok.
To do this, we first examined all the records left behind by Father Lee Tae-seok, including letters, emails, memos, holiday cards, and other documents, as well as photos and videos.
All materials related to Father Lee Tae-seok, including books, papers, daily newspapers, and Catholic newsletters, were also thoroughly verified.
We interviewed childhood friends, medical school classmates, Salesian fellow priests, and volunteers who worked with him at Tonz, and recorded their voices. We corrected previously misinformed facts and shed light on previously unpublished anecdotes.

Tonj, South Sudan, known as the lowest place in the world, was a land of despair left devastated by a long civil war that displaced its residents.
Father Lee Tae-seok built a school and hospital there with his bare hands, creating hope.
It is already well known that he saved countless lives, and was called 'Father Cholly' and 'Schweitzer of Sudan'.
Father Lee Tae-seok treated 200 to 300 patients every morning.
At school, I taught math, and in the afternoons, I did oratorio activities and had the kids in the band practice new songs.
In the evenings, I helped students study, but emergency patients would come in frequently, so I usually went to bed around midnight.
Sometimes I would wake up at dawn to treat patients who came to the hospital with severe malaria.
He was human too, so there were times when he got annoyed.
However, thinking of them as poor people who had nothing, he welcomed them as if he were Jesus and treated them as best he could.
Thanks to this, I often felt a great sense of accomplishment when I saw patients miraculously surviving and being discharged from the hospital.
