Preface: Criticism is not about "sweeping," but about "communication."
Chapter 1: The Brash Lee Jun-seok: "The 'Sassy Immunity' on Test Day"
Memories of Sanggye-dong and Mok-dong that raised Lee Jun-seok | The aura of "freedom" fully absorbed at Harvard University | The label "left-wing" has become a "young, conservative idiot" | The Democratic Party's sense of crisis that condemned Lee Jun-seok as Hitler | Is he a "bottle opener" that opens the public's heart for generational change, or a "crater"? | The progressive camp's labeling of "jungle conservatives" | Hating the enemy clouds judgment | The "meritocracy debate" spread by Lee Jun-seok | Why the 2030 generation wants meritocracy | Meritocracy is a "symptom," not a "cause," of inequality | The "sleazy immunity" enjoyed by Lee Jun-seok | Democratic Party freshmen lawmakers who capitulated to staunch supporters | "Lee Jun-seok is clever, shrewd, and brilliant" | The "Yoon Seok-yeol admonishment incident" and "morality" remarks | Beyond "proof of existence" or "leadership obsession" | The "If Yoon Seok-yeol becomes president, I'll leave the Earth" incident | "I won't tolerate Lee Jun-seok's arrogance and self-righteousness." | Talking too much is also a sign of shameless behavior. | Lee Jun-seok's biggest challenge is to differentiate himself from others.
Chapter 2: Why Two-Thirds of the Public Wanted a Pardon for Lee Jae-yong: Samsung Mirrors South Korea
Lee Jae-yong's growth process | Chaebol families resemble royal families | 'Prince's Rebellion' and the conflict between Lee Maeng-hee and Lee Kun-hee | Lee Jae-yong thinks, "It's so unfortunate" and "He's pitiful" | 'The Agency for National Security Planning X-Files Case' and the 'Slush Fund Exposure Case' | Lee Jae-yong embroiled in a state affairs meddling case | Lee Jae-yong re-arrested in the retrial | Overwhelming public opinion in favor of Lee Jae-yong's pardon | Conflicts that have erupted since Lee Jae-yong's parole | Were the people swayed by the media's conspiracy? | Koreans' 'realistic habitus' | Koreans' 'small-nation complex' | The difference between Samsung and BTS | The 'legacy of compressed growth' that captivates Koreans | Koreans are 'people who have lived 300 years in 30 years' | Koreans' 'distrust of the law' | Beyond the 'selective justice' of 'hypocrisy' | Let's cultivate the good aspects that are not reflected in the mirror
Chapter 3: Why BTS is a "Living Self-Help Book": A March for Comfort, Positivity, Hope, and Solidarity
BTS member RM criticizes self-help books | Are there people who don't develop themselves? | "I will stop all prejudice and oppression against teenagers" | Song lyrics tell BTS' own stories | A message that goes beyond "I want a girl" | "BTS's greatest charm is its 'authenticity'" | "One morning, when I opened my eyes, I wished I were dead" | "All the underdogs around the world, listen up" | BTS's storytelling-style self-help message | The message that "You're okay just the way you are" | "Please make your voice heard" | Bang Si-hyuk's anger for his "fanboys" | BTS is a "religion" that goes beyond "self-help books" | "BTS International Interdisciplinary Academic Conference" | BTS's anti-racism and anti-violence movement | "Me, you, we all have the right to be respected" | "BTS has achieved 100 times what I did, but it's going to be so hard" | The interactive nature of the messages of 'comfort, positivity, hope, and solidarity' | Is BTS's self-help message just a money-making tool?
Chapter 4: Hong Jun-pyo, Too Brave: Why Can't He Break Free of His "Foul-Speaking" Image?
The 'trick of fate' that turned Hong Joon-pyo into a 'conservative warrior' | A childhood spent filling my stomach with tap water for lunch | "I'm a dirt spoon to the bone" | A 'strong and weak' man who refuses to distinguish between left and right | The 'Jinju Medical Center closure' incident that turned him into a public enemy of the progressive movement | Hong Joon-pyo's 'lonely struggle without allies' | "Relieving the education gap is more important than free school meals" | "The train goes on even when dogs bark" | Politics is 'image politics' | "Did Roh Moo-hyun and Trump become president because they had character?" | Yoon Seok-yeol and Lee Jae-myung have "gangster, thug leadership" | Media that only reports when there is harsh criticism is also a problem | "Yoon Seok-yeol's 'Cho Kuk investigation' is a power struggle within the ruling party, disguised as fairness" | "I will stop the tyranny of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union and other militant unions" | "I'm just a 'lone wolf,' not a lone wolf" | Controlling the 'lone wolf temperament' is the biggest challenge | To turn solo singing into a chorus
Chapter 5: The Democratic Party's Essence Revealed by "Criticizing Yoon Seok-yeol" Content: Beyond Tribalism and Inward-Looking
The content of criticism exposes the critic's level of skill | Tribalistic criticism that ignores public and private matters | Moon administration officials' "big brother" rhetoric | "The gangster mentality of 'I raised you'" | The Democratic Party cheered the court detention of Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law | Frenzy over 'Jeong Kyung-shim's four-year prison sentence' and 'Suspension of Yoon Seok-yeol's heavy disciplinary action' | When I say it, it's 'judicial justice,' when I write it, it's 'judicial coup d'état.' | "Activist politics" as revealed by "Choo Mi-ae's Flag."
Chapter 6: Responding to the Rebuttal by Cho Don-moon, Chairman of the Roh Hoe-chan Foundation: "A World Without Irregular Workers" is a Lie
A world without irregular workers is a lie | 'Friday Man' Cho Don-moon's rebuttal | A simple question of common sense that even elementary school students can understand | The Moon administration's focus on 'ceremonial politics' and 'event politics' | Is it progressive if it always goes in the exact opposite direction of Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye? | The 'winner-takes-all structure' itself must be destroyed | A '1 vs. 99 society' and a '20 vs. 80 society' | "If this continues, the Republic of Korea could perish" | Beyond the 'torture of hope' with no end in sight
Chapter 7: Is Kim Yong-min a Blessing for the People Power Party?: The Curse of the Obsession with Sunk Costs
'Cognitive dissonance theory' and the 'sunk cost effect' | Who is Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min? | "A war of goons that has become a pro-North Korea vs. anti-North Korea fight" | The Democratic Party's hypocrisy regarding civil lawsuits | Kim Yong-min, "There will be no more tolerance" | Kim Yong-min's first trial loss, abandonment of appeal | "Kim Yong-min doesn't even know the ABCs of the prosecution system" | Kim Yong-min's 'emotional battle' advocating for 'Impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol' | Lawmakers who submitted a 'Pledge to Complete Prosecution' to 'Moon-addicts' | The Moon Jae-in administration's abuse of investigative authority | Kim Yong-min recommends 'text bombing' of first-term lawmakers | Kim Yong-min's 'equation for success' as he takes first place in the Supreme Council | "Why doesn't the Democratic Party feel hurt even when hit with a stick?" | "A single word from Kim Eo-jun leads Choo Mi-ae, Kim Yong-min, and Kim Nam-guk to 'reform, reform'" | Passion for leading 'media reform' following 'prosecution reform' | Is it such a waste and a shame that all the effort and passion you've poured in has been wasted?

Into the book
The same goes for the previously mentioned ‘praise of meritocracy’ and ‘criticism of feminism.’
Although this is a topic that is difficult to enjoy 'immunity from criticism' except for some ardent supporters, Lee Jun-seok has responded with a straight-forward and undifferentiated approach.
The problem of ‘criticism of feminism’ is particularly serious.
He predicted after the April 7 by-elections that “the candidate who takes the lead on gender issues will be chosen in the presidential election,” but this was a huge mistake.
This is the height of 'tunnel vision', being obsessed with one's own successful experience of attracting young men and having a lot of fun.
--- From "Chapter 1: The Bold Lee Jun-seok"
I gave this article the subtitle, “Samsung is the mirror of South Korea.”
To be more precise, Samsung is a mirror of modern Korean history.
Bettina Stannett said, “A mirror thrust in suddenly can only tolerate children and fools.”
We, who are neither children nor fools, find the mirror called Samsung quite uncomfortable.
So many of us only speak our minds over drinks or in anonymous polls.
No matter how much they were manipulated by the media, the majority of Koreans who wish for Lee Jae-yong's parole have a "realistic habitus" that they experienced or inherited from Korea's turbulent modern history.
Their realism and justice sometimes come into conflict, but in such cases they value relativistic judgment over absolutism.
--- From Chapter 2, “Why did two-thirds of the people want ‘Lee Jae-yong’s pardon’?”
BTS's message of "comfort, positivity, hope, and solidarity" to their fans is two-way. This means that BTS is also influenced by their own messages. When asked, "Are there any lyrics you find satisfying every time you sing them?", the BTS members answered as follows:
Let's just look at some of them.
“I like the line ‘Because the dawn before the sun rises is the darkest’ from ‘Tomorrow’ the most.
“I wrote without any hesitation.” (Suga) “The lyrics of “Sea”, ‘Where there is hope, there is bound to be despair,’ somehow touched my heart.” (Jungkook) “Of the lyrics I’ve written recently, I like “Best Of Me.”
This is a message to the fan army, and it says, 'I wanted to be a loving wave, but why didn't I know that you were the sea?'
“I thought I wanted to be a big help to my fans in my own way, like a wave of affection, but it turned out that I’m happy because it means that I realized that my fans are much bigger than me and that they are the ones who made me.” (RM) BTS members are likely to suffer from the obsession of having to be ‘flawless people,’ and the intensity of their ‘emotional labor’ may be higher than other idols, but it can be said that they are moving forward on the path of applying and putting into practice the messages they delivered to ARMY.
--- From Chapter 3, “Why is BTS a ‘living self-help book’?”
The Democratic Party lawmakers came to recruit Hong Jun-pyo to the Democratic Party.
It was also the party that Hong Joon-pyo most wanted to join, but the Democratic Party leadership turned a blind eye to his request for nomination, and in that situation, he suddenly promised to join the ruling Democratic Liberal Party at its request.
It was difficult to break that promise, as it was made through a direct phone call from President Kim Young-sam to Hong Jun-pyo.
As promised, he joined the Democratic Liberal Party the next day and became active as a leading conservative fighter.
Whenever I see People Power Party lawmaker Hong Jun-pyo on television these days, I think of the "trick of fate."
I was thinking that if the Democratic Party had accepted Hong Jun-pyo at the time, he would have become a representative warrior for progress.
His life trajectory was more in line with progress, as he was born into poverty and even participated in democracy protests during his college years.
