The Screwtape Letters
Description
Book Introduction
'Jeongbon C' presented with a new cover.
The first volume of the S. Lewis Classic!

Recommended by the late Eugene Peterson!

The antidote to the wrong notion of evil, the original C, has been wirelessly replaced with a new cover.
The first book, 'The Screwtape Letters', a S. C. Lewis classic, is a collection of thirty-one letters in which Screwtape, a seasoned and seasoned veteran demon, advises his nephew and rookie demon, Wormwood, on how to seduce humans.
Full of brilliant insights into human nature and the nature of temptation, this book follows the journey of Wormwood's "patient" (in this book, the demons refer to the humans they are responsible for as "patients") from their conversion to their deaths in battle and their entrance into heaven.
It covers various areas that constitute the essence of life, such as family conflicts caused by trivial matters, misunderstandings about prayer, spiritual stagnation, the duality of humans sharing spiritual and animal elements, the relationship between change and permanence, the differences between men and women, love, laughter, pleasure, and desire.
British C.
The '1961 Preface', published with the permission of the S. C. Lewis Society, was added by the author more than 20 years after the original publication and provides an important clue to understanding The Screwtape Letters.
Recommended by spiritual theologian Eugene Peterson as “the most fundamental book to read in our time,” The Screwtape Letters will serve as a starting point for readers who wish to explore the thoughts of Lewis, a major figure in 20th-century Christianity.

Into the book
I won't bother explaining how I came into possession of the letters I'm about to reveal to you now.
There are two errors that we humans tend to fall into when thinking about the devil.
These are errors that are diametrically opposed to each other, but equally serious.
One is not to believe in the existence of the devil.
Another is to believe in the devil but devote too much unhealthy attention to him.
The devils delight in both these errors equally, and they welcome them with open arms, whether materialists or magicians.

--- From the "Preface"

One of our biggest partners today is the church.
Don't misunderstand.
The church I am talking about is not the church we see rooted in eternity and extending across all time and space, a fearsome church like an army raising its banner high.
To be honest, such a sight would unsettle even our most daring seducers.
But fortunately, humans never see that sight.

Personally, I hate bureaucrats more than bats.
I live in the age of management and the world of 'administration'.
The greatest evils are no longer committed in the seedy 'dens of crime' that Dickens loved to paint.
But that doesn't mean it's done in concentration camps or labor camps.
What we see in such places is the ultimate result of evil.
The greatest evil is that which is conceived and dictated (proposed, submitted, passed, and recorded in the minutes) by decent men, dressed in white shirts, with clean-cut fingernails and beards, and who do not need to raise their voices, in warm, clean, carpeted, brightly lit offices.
