God's zeal
Description
Book Introduction
“God’s Zeal” is a well-known sermon collection and representative work of Pastor Park Young-sun.
Since its publication in 1985, this collection of sermons has been considered a "life book" by many believers. Now, a generation later, it has been republished in a refined form.
In his youth, he doggedly questioned and pondered the topic of 'faith', and after a relentless search through the Bible, he came to the answer that 'faith is the result of God's zeal.'
At the time the author preached this sermon, there was a pervasive atmosphere in Korean churches that idolized biblical figures and encouraged the audience to have good faith like them.
However, behind the atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and challenge, there was also an undeniable reality that many believers felt frustrated and despair due to their religious lives not going as well as they had hoped.
Everyone sympathized with the gap between enjoying the prosperity of the revival period and not being able to quench their thirst for faith.
In this situation, the audience's sympathy with the author's scream became the premise for writing this book.
This premise may not be one we can empathize with today.
Because we live in an age of skepticism and cynicism rather than enthusiasm and passion.
Our framework has changed and will continue to change.
But the mystery of God's work, which exists as a greater word beyond our worries and questions, will continue to come to us today as well.
This is precisely the meaning of passing this book on to us and the next generation.
Just as this book, which finds its answer not in "zeal for God" but in "God's zeal," while sympathizing with the despair and frustration of countless believers, has provided a new turning point in the faith of many, I believe it will also provide an opportunity for us and our descendants to rediscover the mystery of God's work.
This revised edition includes a new entry on Paul, and the appendices at the end of each sermon reflect the author's deep insight into his long history of emphasizing God's sovereignty.
This book provides a glimpse into the origins of preacher Park Young-sun, who has been on God's side his entire life.
I hope that through this book, you will experience the joy of discovering God's sovereignty throughout the world and history.

Publisher's Review
"God's Zeal" is a book that compiles sermons from my youth, when I was a believer, yet I was not satisfied with myself, and I was unable to do anything about my own dissatisfaction and anger. I would read and reread the Bible, worry, question, and scream.
It took me a lifetime to realize that the life God demands of His children is not a simple one of getting the right answers.
God makes us think and ponder over faith, so that we can reach the level He desires, rather than being satisfied with faith as a mere excuse or solution.
What makes God's faithful work so burdensome and confusing is that His purposes exceed our expectations and imagination.
The biblical figures introduced here are not heroes who demonstrate their own great qualities, but rather historical witnesses who reveal who God is and how He works.
As I was refining the book, over thirty years later, I added a brief insight I gained over the years to the end of each character.
Paul is a newcomer.
God's work toward him is revealed in the zeal with which he accomplishes a great reversal.
The audience's sympathy for the screams I made back then was the premise behind writing this book.
The cry I made back then may not be a premise that all generations can sympathize with even now.
This is because we live in an age where people no longer regard the figures in the Bible as great men, and the desire to live like them has faded.
The assumptions we have are easily changed, shifted, and lost.
But no matter what premise we start from and ask about it, God's zeal will still be abundantly available to everyone today.
Because God is still working.
May you be blessed believers who willingly surrender before this unchanging and unchanging zeal.
